Surgery is endoscopic and there was no pain - was back at work the next day.
Before finding Orthopedic Specialties, I went to see another hand surgeon who does the "open" procedure and told me it's the same as endoscopic. But after reading a number of postings online by people who had the "open" procedure, endoscopic sounded a lot better.
i would definitely recommend largo medical center. i did not meet anyone there who was not friendly. it was a very pleasant experience.
The physicians were ok, but several didn't communicate much about the tests being run or describing diagnoses, etc. If you asked them you could pry information out of them. That seemed true for those in the ER and the residents and the specialists. Only one or two took a few seconds to explain. There was no clear schedule to expect a doctor to show up. We had to give the same story about medications, etc. over and over to a pile of doctors - no one seemed in charge. Our board certified family doctor was not part of that staff, so they couldn't talk to him (which makes no sense) unless we went to a different hospital.
The rooms were ok, but the nurses depended on who was there for that shift. Some were excellent and others were not. We had to go find a nurse on occasion, keep up with some medications, and ask about tests and quot;orderedand quot; by the doctor without explanation. Even with insurance, many tests are expensive (much more than the same test ordered outside of the ER) and may not be immediately necessary. Even then, there should be at least a little bit of reason given as long as it's not immediately life or death. Some tests were duplicated (same thing ordered by different doctors) and our family doctor concluded some things just ran up the bill and had little to do with a diagnosis.
Ordering food was a weird phone system with a card of instruction (hard to read and there were no verbal directions).
The billing is crazy. Even with insurance in-network, and even with several family members asking constantly about costs, etc. After the visit we got 10-15 different bills from doctors (some residents), labs, and weird charges. Before leaving we went to the office to and quot;settle the billsand quot;, and even then they didn't mention all the multitude of extras - and we specifically asked while we were there!!
