BF Plumbing came out to give free estimate to replace water expansion tank. He wanted to check other things and 'found' that the anode rod needed replacing and T/P valve 'was bad'. Estimate to replace all 3 things was over $650- more than the cost of a new water heater (not incl. installation). If I knew nothing about water heaters I might have vastly over paid. I suspected that the anode rod was nowhere near the end of it's life span and I was pretty sure there was nothing wrong with the T/P valve. After an hour & 1/2 on google & youtube I am 99% sure they both fine for another 3 to 15 years. I might have been willing to pay $250-$300 to replace the expansion tank, but not after getting bad information on the other two items. I ended up replacing the expansion tank myself in 30 minutes at a cost of $42 (plus $3 for a tube of thread sealant). I also spend $38 on a new anode rod before deciding not to replace it, but I'll keep the new one and replace it myself in 3-5 years when it really does need replacing. Seems that T/P valves typically last the life of the water heater so I won't buy of them until I really do need it. Pllumber seemed like a nice enough guy, but so do used car salesmen. My advice- if you don't know anything about plumbing get a least 3-4 estimates before you pay anyone. And remember that sometimes a $49 fee to get an estimate will end up being cheaper than a 'free' estimate.

They did part of the work. He said he had to get more parts and come back. He didnt come back. I called and they said the guy was out sick. I waited for the guy since I had already paid. When I called later. They tried to charge me another service call fee. The guy did come back to finished the work.

They were terrible. We had to have some other plumbing stuff done and we went with Dunedin Plumbing down here and they were good. They charged us $1400 to replace the faucets on both sinks, it's a dual sink so they would match. With faucets like that, we go to a national home improvement store and it's $50-80. I think they really milked the job. We didn't know, we just moved down here so I think they took advantage of us. I guess they can charge reasonable rates. We didn't know, they did the job and then we had to deal with it. When we talked to people, they said it was outrageous. They did a good job as far as we don't have leaks or anything. They could have gone with different faucets. The guy was here so long, I think he was padding his bill. They did come when we called.

A young kid showed up to repair a shower valve for my father. He looked over the job, and got on the phone to contact a supervisor for instructions on the repair. After 6 hours, numerous phone calls and almost burning the house down with his torch, the repair was not made. He obviously did not know what he was doing. He finally turns to my elederly parents and says, the reason I can't get the valve soldered in, is because the copper pipers are old, so you need  to replace the pipes in your house. My father turns to him and tells him to leave. Enough is enough. Then the kid tells him he needs to get paid for the time. My father tells him he's not going to pay because nothing was accomplished. In fact it was worse than before. Now the valve was burnt and damaged and could not be reused.
The next day the kid calls back and tells them he want to come out and finish the job. My parents refuse, based on the previous days experience. He puts a supervisor on the phone who begins to yell at my 81 year old parents and tells them if they don't pay he will call the police and hang up on them.
After hearing this from my parents I called in to talk to someone about the incident. A young girl by the name of Amanda answers the phone and sympathetically listens to my complaint and assure me that she will contact a manager by the name of Mario to talk to my parents and resolve the issue. So Mario calls my mom and proceeds to read her the riot act. He tells her you cant order services and not pay for them and they sent the technician away because somebody was coming to come out and clean the carpets, which was totally bogus. My parents told the kid they needed to cancel the carpet cleaning since he removed the valve, so now they couldn't even turn the water back on TO clean the carpet. Mario wouldn't let my mom get a word in edgewise. He just kept talking over her, so mom just hung up.
Beware of these people they don't fix anything and then use scare tactics.

I am happy with them. They were very professional. They were able to really suggest how to do it the best way so that it works well for me. They were in and out quickly. I was able to use a coupon with them too.

I called them for a sewer backup in a bathroom/laundry line on July 1, 2013. They wouldn't give me a price over the phone but said the technician would price it out when he got here. He came and said that a photo line inspection and 6 month warranty were included for free and then told me it was $399 to route out a sewer that I've never paid over $200 for to anyone else even for an emergency Sunday call. I told him it was too much and he said then he just wanted $49.95 for the service call. He finally agreed to do the sewer work for $200 without the long warranty or camera. He supposedly did it but obviously not well. The line was slow again within a week and today backed up again completely. Their answering service said they would only charge me the $49.95 service call today and they would fix the old work. Not so said the guy who arrived today. Tomorrow I'll call someone else. If you don't want to be used, avoid this plumber.

I saw an ad on one of their trucks that said any drain cleaned $79 but our job cost us $250 - so make sure you check the price-related details before you hire them because if you see the price quoted on the truck it could cost you considerably more. The plumber was very cordial, well-spoken, and appeared to be competent, and a good salesman for Benjamin Franklin. He did appear to clear out the line. It came with a 60 day guarantee - which I thought was not a qood quality guarantee.

I was pleased with the worker, he was very nice and did the work he said he would.
I was not so pleased with the price. I have used them before and probably will in the future as they do good work.
However, I think 170.00 to fix the outside faucet was way to much. it took the guy like 15 minutes to do.
I had a coupon to clear any drain for 76 bucks but was told I had used before and this is a one time thing. Don't forget the show up fee. They did honor the coupon as we did not know about the one time use but bill was still way to high for what was done. I know plumbers prices are ridiculous no matter who you use so I will continue to call them as I really have no choice but would use another plumber if I could find a good one like these guys, only cheaper.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing had gotten me in touch with the people that they use for the clean-up. The flood happened the night before and they were here the next morning. They were very professional, gave me some option on the different types of water heaters and different price range. They offered a home protection club and I thought that I would give that a try for a year and I think it's like $20 a month but you get 2 air-conditioning and heating services and I'm getting 4 different visitations to make sure everything is on track.

It is one of the big companies in town. We used them and they were just terrible. We joined Angie's list because we had such a bad experience with them. They left the hose running in the hot tub, which wasn't discovered for another half a year or a year so we were paying extra water every month for it. Especially since it was the hot water tap they left open. The price they charge was higher than anyone else has ever charged. It was just carelessness in their part. They did come out pretty promptly.

I live on the third floor so they had to get a heavy water heater up here on a dolly. He did just a beautiful job. They are so punctual, professional. Everything is polished and shined up when they leave. They are so sweet, positive and quiet.
