The only reason I checked that I would use this provider again is because my system is under warranty. I cannot recommend the company to new customers. Although the employees of the business were very nice and professional and although in the end I feel that my new Trane system is high in quality, the individual in charge of the business (hereinafter referred to as "the Owner") has been difficult to deal with post-installation of my new system. The following describes only a portion of the problems I encountered.
I contracted with the Owner for an entirely new system that would heat and cool my home AND MEET ALL CODE REQUIREMENTS. When the new units flunked the first local building inspection, in part because they did not contain adequate heating capability for extended periods of cold weather, the Owner insisted that the local building inspector was wrong and that I could pass the inspection if I would either (1) tell the inspector that my decorative fireplace provided me with an adequate source of heat or (2) purchase and place space heaters around my home. When I responded that I was not comfortable "getting around" code requirements in this manner, the Owner told me that a necessary electrical upgrade would cost roughly $2000 more than I had already paid--it seemed to me that the Owner quoted that amount to get me to give in to the get-around-inspection scenario. I had also called Trane directly and the information its rep told me about the heating capability of the units was consistent with the information given to me by the building inspector and inconsistent with what the Owner had told me. I thus investigated how much such an electrical upgrade might cost, and was told that it could be done for about $600. Although pursuant to the written contract this probably would have been the Owner's responsibility, I offered to pay one-half of the electrical work up to $300. The Owner obtained an electrician, I paid my additional $300, the work was completed, and the job passed inspection. The whole process took several months because from the time that the job flunked the first local building inspection until the time it was brought up to code, the Owner did not respond to my communications in a timely manner and cancelled at least one critical meeting at my house at the last minute knowing that I had taken time off from work to meet with him.
My most recent attempt to communicate with the Owner to set up a time check on my AC during the warranty period was May 10, 2016, with a follow up from me on May 11, 2016. It is now May 20, 2016, and I still have not received a response from the Owner.
Will be recommending Arctic Air to our friends.
