I am very impressed with the services I received from Rodney. The weather was horrible and it didn’t stop him and his crew from working. Not only did he get the job done under bad weather conditions but the job itself is awesome. I am extremely satisfied and I would definitely recommend him. I actually have already recommended him to my neighbors and friends.

After my nightmare experience with Family Fence I decided to go with Rodney Dean to complete my fencing at the recommendation of my handyman. Everything from start to finish went so smoothly that I wish I would have contacted him first to complete my entire fencing project. He was punctual, responded to texts and phone calls and completed the job when he said he would. His price was fair and he did an outstanding job with cleanup!!! He has my highest recommendation!!

Rodney and his crew did a great job. They installed the entire fence in one day. The crew cleaned up their mess and didn't leave anything behind.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…. When I contracted with Rodney Dean The Fence man, there were 2 requirements to the install. First, I wanted the top rail of the fence lined up to the same height as the neighbor’s fence. Second, I wanted NON keyed gate latches as I know from experience that locking latches corrode and become unusable. My first clue that something might have been problematic was when he “forgot” to bring me licensing, insurance, bonding and materials information at contract signing. He represented that he and his crew were fully insured. He represented that he was using virgin vinyl fencing instead of the cheap Chinese material sold at the big box stores. But, being a trusting soul, I gave him a 50% deposit towards materials purchase. I knew I had made a bad decision when his crew shows up and the lead crew member is collecting information from their ID’s! None of them spoke English and it was clear to me that these were day laborers. Clearly they were NOT insured and if any of them had injured themselves on the job, I would HAVE LIABILITY. Rodney Deane The Fence man was there for a few minutes to get them started and again, he “forgot” the information I had asked for but promised to bring it before the job was complete. I reminded him about the 2 requirements of the job and I told the lead crew member about the fence height. He nodded approvingly and I left to run errands. At this point I was boxed in. They already had ½ my money and I couldn’t stop the job. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. When I returned at the end of the day, the BOTTOM rail was set parallel to the ground contrary to my instructions and the gate latch was of the locking variety! Clearly Mr. Team leader couldn’t understand English either and the Boss was not around to supervise the job. I called Rodney Dean The Fence Man who tried to tell me that they usually set the bottom rails parallel to the ground and the “crew” must have forgotten. They returned, same day and raised the fence. Rodney Dean The Fence Man told me that he couldn’t change out the gate latch for the correct type because the screw patterns were different and the other screw holes would be visible. At this point, instead of insisting that he replace the post and gate where the screw holes would show, I just swallowed my frustration and called it a day. A few days later, the fence starts sagging because when they raised the fence, they didn’t dig up any posts, they just “pulled” them up creating an air pocket in the concrete. The posts eventually sagged under the weight of the fence. I know this because they DAMAGED the bottom of the fence with the tool or 2x4 they used to try and raise the post! See the picture. For 45 days I called, emailed and texted Rodney The Fence Man and the only time I could get a response is when I threatened to write up a negative review. He had stalled me several times. It was always “next week”. I have truck problems, I have a family problems, I have scheduling problems. When I finally told him I would write the review if he didn’t show up Saturday (after he told me it would be done that week), he said if I write the review, he’ll never show up. So, I started writing the review, it took me another week to do it because I was busy. Can you believe that even in THAT extra week, he never showed up? I could. Don’t use this guy. Whatever small amount of money you save by using a legitimate fence company, you will regret it. He has no business location; the address he uses is a relative’s house. He operates out of his trucks and has multiple negative reviews that I didn’t see when I was looking. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

"First of all everything I agreed to I did the fence was installed on time I meet with [Member Name Removed] and walked the job with him and my workers. After the fence was installed I received a call from him yelling at me about the fence not be the same height was the neighborhood fence. I told him I would send my guys back to rise the fence up. My workers returned with in 20 minutes and raised the fence up. First of all the post are only 9 feet in length if you put them only two feet in to the ground as the home owner demanded the post are not deep enough as required by the manufacturer , it will drop back down. I told [Member Name Removed] I would bring him the gate keys I did I checked the two post and promised I would rise them up. being the busy season I asked for a little time because I was down a truck. He agreed then he started making threats about bad mouthing me on line. Yes he paid me for all the material for his fence when we signed the contract. I started the fence on time and completely it the same day to include removal and hauling of the old fence. The material are pure vinyl purchased from merchants metals a company of hard castle. My workers make 18.00 per hour on the books. This is all because I did not get back to your house fast enough for you so you lie about me on line . we had good conversation and you even talked about trying to help me with some business thinks and now you and trying to ruin me because I did not get to your house for the second time sooner. You contact me by email for weeks and I had a feeling about you and did not follow my feeling. I am a man of my word old school I take care of my customers 18 years doing this business. I told you I would come back to raise the to post up the damages you are causing me you can't fix when your post get fix. This guys is just trying to hurt my business writing negative comment all over the Internet about me it is personal."

I met with Rodney & then hired him.  His workers came to the house & did the work as requested.  A few weeks later I noticed that the double gate they installed was sagging. He had ensured me in the initial meeting that his gates never sag because he uses steel rod supports. The gate continued to sag worse so i called him and he said he would come take a look  but I never heard from him again after repeated calls and texts.   Obviously he does not stand by his work & I will not use him again & I will tell anyone I know looking for fence work NOT to use the fence man.
I am a superintendent for a large general contractor in the area & know a fair amount of people

Rodney is very hard to get a hold of. Doesn't return calls. On the day of the job Rodney showed as promised. It was a large yard so it took 2 days to complete. On the end of the second day the job was completed. The fence looked nice and seemed to be done properly. The yard however was riddled with trash and had a few things that were missing. ie caps on some of the fence posts, crooked gate and one of the gate locks was broken. Also none of the holes that were dug were filled back in or cleaned up at all. Dirt was everywhere. I noticed this because neighbors had recently had a fence put in and the company they used not only cleaned up but wiped down the fence and fixed all the dirt. We spent a few hours packing the dirt and picking up trash. We called Rodney and since he was wanting final payment he came to fix the issues the next day. 2 weeks after installation we found a crack on one of the gates. Needless to say it's been almost 3 months and Rodney has not fixed or replaced the issue. The work is good quality but the lack of respect he shows customers is unbelievable.During planning for the fence there were multiple times we had appointments for Rodney to come for estimates/questions. He either was hrs late or didn't show. He needs to learn th get back to his customers in a timely manner. We lived in the same community with Rodney so we were trying to give him a chance but I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Response from Rodney Dean The Fence Man
"My guy left a small amount of trash in this yard I picked it up personal and apologized. I fix the gate to his liking and he paid me the balance for my labor. He call me a week or two later claimed one of this two gates had a crack on it I stop by looked at the gate made a claim with the manufacturing company and he got a new gate. every thing the customer complaints about I fix but he didn't go on line and mention that."

Mr. Dena, the Owner of the company came out to look at what needed to be done.  Although my fence is an inferior product compared to the product of fencing that hie works with, he was kind enough to repair what I have to ensure my dogs would not be able to escape.  I plan on using him in the future to actually replace the gate and build another fence on the other side of my property. Mr. Dean was so prompt, kind & professional.............you just don't see that in todays world.  Thanks for restoring some of my faith in the fact there are honest, hardworking people left in this world!

Our fence looks amazing. The price quoted was a lot cheaper than we had anticipated. Rodney and his crew completed the job over two days. All debris was picked up after they had completed the work. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

I am a 67 year-old retired city planner and US Army Combat Engineer Officer. I grew up on a farm where I had to build long fences.
(This is a duplicate report on Rodney Dean The Fence Man made this date.)
Job:
1. Install sixty-five feet of vinyl, 6' x 6', privacy fence on my east property line.
2. The existing wooden fence had to be replaced in accordance with our Subdivision Covenants per the HOA.
3. I cleared the old fence and all obstructions except roots from the path of the fence.
Problem:
1.  The fence crew was not familiar with the type of fence that I bought for the job.
2.  When the crew chief became aware that some of the pickets were too long, by 1/2 to one inch, he was not able to explain to me how the offending picket would force the panel into a parallelogram shape.
3. I suggested that he sort the pickets and use only the ones that were short enough before he started trimming pickets.  As it turned out only 35 of the 64 pickets had to be trimmed.
4. Finally, the crew failed to use the agreed upon one bag of concrete per post.
Complaint:
1.  Mr. Dean was in a hurry and did not stay to supervise his installation crew.  This is not his full time profession.  He works for the county.
2.  The crew chief was not able to explain, so that I could understand, the impact of having some pickets longer than others.
3.  The crew seemed confused about how to handle a few minor problems, such as how to sort the short pickets from the long.  The sorting process went well, but they for got which was the long stack and which was the short. In addition, Mr. Dean failed to tell his crew to use one bag of concrete per post as agreed.
4.  When called two days later, Mr. Dean would not comply with our agreement to use one bag of concrete per post.  Previously, I asked him if he would insure me that he would make right any mistakes if I paid him prior to completion.
4.  Mr. Dean was argumentative with me when ask him to comply with the contract.  That is, he talked over and blamed me for bothering his crew. This, I feel, was defensive tactic to divert the conversation away from his failure to comply with the contract.
Mr. Dean accused me of costing him money by interfering with his crew.  He is the one who added this job at the end of the work day.
Justification:
1.  I noticed Mr. Dean?s argumentative behavior at the outset, but continued thinking that he was in a hurry.
2. I notice the lack of direction of his crew and lack of attention to the job by the crew chief.
3. Mr. Dean left his son in charge of two older men.  Not a good sign of leadership.
4. Mr. Dean asked me to pay up front so he could pay his men. I did on his promise to honor any discrepancies. I had no recourse except to observe and comment on the work in progress.
5. My intervention caused some frustration for the crew chief, but ultimately I solved the communications problem between us. After which, I left him alone to complete the job.  Later, I apologized for getting involved and complemented him on the job done.  However, at that time I did not notice that the crew chief failed to use the requisite amount of concrete per post.
Conclusion:
I honored my end of the contract.
Mr. Dean did not honor his end of the contract.
My fence is up, but could be knocked over in a strong gust of wind.
I hope Mr. Dean's son, learned from this experience.  I sure did.

"I install this fence on a Sunday and customer was in the way when my men called me to tell me what was going on I called mister [Member Name Removed] and asked him to let my men do the job or I would return his 500.00 check to him because I had not cashed it. He said he would not get in the way a three hour job for two men took 7 hours with 3 men because he what to do the job the wrong way. He started the fence his self and was off the property line I tried to help him I wish I would have just gave him back his check and walked away. I have installed vinyl fences 14 Years I never let my customer provide the materials I a full service. Some people hire you and then would let you due the job make me not what to do small all these lies for five hundred dollars between three men."
