Our problem with Jack Harris is that we paid for services never rendered, and he has refused to answer our correspondence in writing. We paid $85 on a 5/10/10 invoice. Jack installed an outdoor duplex receptacle on our side patio. It has never functioned properly. Jack claimed it was bad plug, and he replaced it. It still doesn't work, and it never has. Jack has never returned to replace or repair the receptacle or wiring.
On the invoice dated 5/29/10, we paid $300 for six bathroom vanity pendant lights to be wired and installed by Jack. But he never did that job.. We also paid $80 for a light switch to be relocated in the Master Bedroom, but that job was never done either. This is a total of $465 for work not done by Jack. As I said, several projects overlapped, so at first we were not concerned. We expected Jack to return to complete his jobs once Mr. Rios was ready for him. It never happened.
Then in the fall of 2010, Mr. Rios suddenly quit working on our home, abruptly leaving only a hand-written note that he took a larger remodeling job. For several months, we wrote Mr.Rios trying to resolve problems such as this one with Jack Harris' work. Mr. Rios ignored all correspondence until recently. He sent a short email stating that This Home Handyman was no longer in business.
On 4/18/11 we wrote a letter directly to Jack Harris, detailing the problems involving him. We described the work we had paid for that he had not done. We asked for his response in writing. He has not done so. We want our money back! We have filed complaints against Jack with the BBB and the Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Agency. We will next go the state level and ask that his license be sanctioned or repealed. We still want our money back for the services not performed or performed improperly. And we are hoping Angie's List can help get this accomplished. We also want others to know that Jack Harris does not stand behind his work, nor does he follow up with problems.
Thank you for any help you can give us in recovering this money from Jack.

Overall work was completed very well. I thought the price was too high for the amount of work and time that it took. Jack spends a lot of time talking that I didn't realize I was being charged for. While installing a light in the master closet, he accidentally knocked a hole in the hall ceiling that we had to have another repairman fix. He offered to fix, but we felt that to have it done correctly, an experienced sheetrock person should do the job.

It went very well. Contractor found issues along the way and provided satisfactory solutions.

Jack Harris of Harris Electrical Services is a very professional guy. He calls and verifies times and gets the job done. He worked well around the handymen's schedules since they were tearing out some old lights and drywall from my bathrooms and he was wiring the new sconces. I originally had Jack just doing a few things and before I knew it I found myself at Home Depot buying new lights and having Jack replace everything and adding the second ceiling fan, etc. Very honest and a hard worker. I've even had Jack come out again for another project, which is included in the above mentioned price (technically, it's over 3 days of work that was done in the price listed). I also have plans for him to come out in the near future to wire me a 30 amp plug for my motorhome.
