I told him I had a drainage issue causing erosion next to my seawall and under the sidewalk. I told him this is what I needed he assured me he would be able to do that. He started installing PVC pipping and I had asked why he was not putting in gravel and landscape fabric first. His reply, " this is a much better system." There is no no need for gravel and landscape fabric. Using this PVC pipping the water will run right straight through and not get any dirt in the line." Being a professional I no longer questioned his instillation. When we have had a lot of rain. I noticed the side yard was filled with water and the collection box was over flowing with water and was not draining out through the seawall at all. I also noticed it was not installed properly because the PVC pipe was sitting on top of the ground. That means there is no way the water is able to go up to drain out properly. The drain line is not installed at a proper slope to drain correctly. I also noticed I was charged for 3 12" collection boxes but I only have 2. I'm not sure I have 4" PVC or 2" either. I was very appreciative that he filled the erosion near the seawall and sidewalk with rock and dirt. The erosion near seawall seems to be holding well. The one under the sidewalk is eroding again. That means I'm still very concerned about the proper drainage. I sent him a text on December 21, 2022 stating my concern about the drain he installed. The collection box is overflowing, water is settling on the lawn there is also erosion under the sidewalk, it appears no water is running out beyond the seawall. His response was, "I can take a look at it." I wasn't expecting anything until after Christmas. After the holidays I telephoned asking for a return call as soon as possible. I have not hear a word. On January 3rd I mailed a certified letter stating " Im writing this letter because I have not heard from you about making the corrections on the drain you installed." I have not heard a response in reference to the letter. I believe it is because he recognized the name and refused to sign for the letter. Im very disappointed because I thought I had hired a professional that had a great amount of integrity.

"All French drain material was installed correctly. After the installation we hooked up a water hose to each drain to test for proper flow. Customer witnessed water flowing through the pipe before submitting final payment. Project was completed 5 months ago. Property meets sinkhole repair requirements but instead of having the sinkhole repair done she asked for a French drain installation. By now I’m sure the soil underneath has shifted even more which could cause the French drain system not to function as normal. I did say after I returned bank into town that I would view the system. The letter that was sent out was sent to an old address which is why we didn’t receive it. But either way this isn’t the right criteria for a bad review especially when you know you have a sinkhole issue. All materials used for the installation was outlined in the invoice so there shouldn’t be any confusion on the size of the pipe used. Also as stated at the time of installation you don’t need gravel and mesh to install pvc pipe it only applies to flex pipe."

Jay and his team were amazing and very responsive to my landscaping needs! I’ve used a few companies in the past for landscaping and no company has been as on top of work commitments as Jay and his team. I will continue to use their services and advise others to do the same.

Service was great. From initial contact Jay was professional and courteous. He provided all the necessary information I needed to make the final decisions on the project. He was patient with my pickiness, was not pushy and his pricing is pretty fair and reasonable. I am extremely happy with the work that done by him and his team. I will definitely be recommending Cultiv8 Landscaping to family and friends.

I am a 31 year old female, and I saved my money for over a year to do the back yard project of my dreams. Once I finally saved up the money, I made the HORRIBLE mistake of hiring Jay and Cultiv8. During the initial consult he told me the project would take 5 days- that was the first of his COUNTLESS lies. As the project began I immediately knew we made a mistake. His workers never showed up when he said they would, if they did show up, they would work for an hour and then leave, he said material was being delivered and when it never did, we would reach out to him, he wouldn't return calls or texts for days at a time. 9 weeks later and the project is not complete. The situation was so pathetic that he at one point called me on the phone CRYING saying that he is a professional and please don't let our project reflect upon his business.... A few days later he DEMANDED more money in order to complete the project (this is illegal in the state of Florida)- this is after he has done NOTHING since the demolition. We then promptly asked to see his business license and work permit which he REFUSED to show us and shortly after that he quit on the job and told me he would give me a $400 refund (I paid him thousands of dollars- he took 10k of my money and said that he had used it all to complete demolition). I now have to spend my time and resources suing this guy in small claims court, and my backyard isn't done. I have never met such a deceitful, unprofessional person- my only hope is that this guy never gets to RIP OFF another person again. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!

"All untrue statements unfortunately people just can’t find it in themselves to be honest. I’ve been in business for 20 years and well over 200 5 star reviews I think that says a lot. We initially started the demo of the project and a sub contractor failed to show up for over 3 weeks. Which they delt with him directly. Cultiv8 landscape doesn’t have any interest in ripping anyone off nor have we. The review is false and this was the results of a customer trying to extort $4000 from me. We owe a difference of $400 which was left on the balance. After the initial deposit was used we asked for another percentage of the invoice which is normal on any larger scale project. It’s not a crime. I didn’t quit the job we agreed to part ways."

A very unprofessional and expensive job done on April 12, 2022. Put sod down on top of weeds, grass and existing mulch. Did not clear areas completely first. Had no tools to lay sod. Did not prepare land before laying sod. Borrowed our tools, then did not return our shovel. Did not put screening down to help deter weed growth before landscaping. Now have an abundance of weeds we have to deal with. Broke sprinkler lines. Had to pay sprinkler company $200 to repairs lines that were broken. Left a tree root right in the middle of our landscaping in front. Jay said we have to have it removed. After paying him almost $5000, we now have to put out more money. It has been a very disappointing and anxiety filled experience; Especially since we relied on the recommendation of Angi's site. An extremely unprofessional job. Still trying to get in touch with Jay. He is ignoring our request to get the tree root removed.

"I’m sorry but these aren’t true allegations. And we always return our phone calls. We just paid for stump grinding on your property even tho it was never my responsibility to take care of. We replaced 6 plants that you never watered. A professional job was done otherwise I don’t see someone paying $5000 if they weren’t happy. We aren’t responsible for weeds growing weed block was never asked for nor was it on my estimate. We didn’t borrow and tools either. Honestly is hard to come by. This review system gets abused a lot."

Jay was responsive until the end of the project. While I see here that other people’s jobs were being done promptly and with quality during the timeframe of our project, we clearly were at the bottom of the priority list. Unfortunately, this may be because we ended up paying for the job of 100% in advance when we were approached by Jay saying that he needed more money to purchase materials for our project. Lesson learned. Work progressed very slowly, and not on the days promised. The bobcat sat in the front yard for at least three days. The project was dragged out over almost 2 weeks. Workers did not come when promised. Stone was laid in a very haphazard fashion without clear demarcation lines, not a professional polished look like on the website pictures at all. We brought this to Jay’s attention. He apologized and said he had a new worker and would come to the property to fix things. We tried a couple different times to meet him there but it was not convenient for him. We Finally agreed to a phone discussion and text messages with photos of desired corrections. Jay did come out but things were not executed fully as discussed. After this we received a notice from the city that our water meter was buried under rock. We also discovered that the weed block as Quoted in the invoice was NOT applied under the gravel and we have uncontrollable weeds coming up through the gravel driveway within two weeks of the job. Jay was contacted about these two issues. He says we asked for a discount and that’s why there’s no weed block. However we were never informed, nor would we have agreed to a gravel driveway without weed block. It is clearly listed on the invoice. He initially said they would come uncover the water meter. He then responded that he had talked to his worker and that they never saw the water meter so it must’ve already been buried. He then indicated that he was done “ going back-and-forth about this.” The city has been reading the water meter for over a decade and never sent a notice before so it is clearly related to the work done. After purchasing a metal detector, we located the water meter and then spent two hours digging it out from where it had been buried during the excavation of the front yard. I am absolutely shocked that this could happen with an experienced company that is so highly rated. We have spent 2 hours digging and we still have not gotten all the dirt out of the water meter box, we have barely uncovered the shut off valve. This is just so unacceptable. The excavation work appears to be satisfactory other than the water meter being buried. The lack of weed block creates an ongoing issue with what was designed to be a low maintenance solution to enhance parking and improve curb appeal. The center design feature is a total flop and now has to be completely re-configurated because of the water meter being in the middle of it. Most of the plants were installed in the wrong area or improperly in a crooked line and too close to the house. We are working our way through re-planting all the plants. We are still trying to figure out the demarcation lines between the stones. We had Bricks we had wanted to use as a border But Jay said they could not be used and offered to throw them out for us. When I asked for them back He offered some brick he had on hand but never provided it. We also did not receive the size plants promised or type for center island and we were shorted 2 plants in the center island. A lot of excavation work was done at the property. A lot of product was brought there as well, limestone and granite. We hope we got our $6000 worth but as far as the finished product it is far below expectation and Is not appealing at all. We paid for a professional polished product much like the ones you will see on Jay’s website. What we ended up with couldn’t be further from that, even after sending him pictures from his own website and telling him this was the quality we expected. The end result is beyond disappointing. I’m surprised to see many other people having a positive experience with this company and happy with their results. This confuses me about our experience. All these great reviews are part of the reason I chose this company and most of our interactions with Jay were very positive until we started expressing dissatisfaction with some elements of the job. I recommended this company to my friend based on reviews and photos here and from Jay’s website, and the fact that he was vetted by Angie’s list. I feel badly for recommending him to my friend and feel responsible for the terrible result. I did note 2 other Complaints against Jay’s company in the Better Business Bureau so we are not having an isolated experience. I guess Jay can be very good but his company’s performance is inconsistent.

"Our conversation via text: The extra plants from the courtyard would go there and then the gray patch is where I envision Repurposing the granite from the front of the house and thinning out the center island to create of a walkway path into the courtyard if you still have those bricks you were talking about maybe that would be a good place to have a little border to hold the granite in place it’s boggy walking on that limestone into the courtyard We are not overall dissatisfied with the materials. We are concerned that we can’t find the water meter and that there is no weed block as per the contract. Those are the only issues at this point. Jay’s response: water meter was already buried below the foundation. And that we were willing to help locate it. Do to budgeting needs weed block was removed from the invoice. And we recommended monthly weed control measures. Offered free edging because he didn’t have enough old material to salvage nor was it the correct material (6 bricks). At first it was a yes to the bricks then it was can I bring mulch instead and dig up already planted plants and move to another area. Which everything was done at no additional cost."

Jay responded almost immediately to our request for a quote. He showed up on time, gave us a written quote, and scheduled our sod replacement quickly. The team was prompt and did a great job removing our weeds and putting down healthy green sod. It would have taken us forever to do it ourselves and they made it look easy. Would totally hire them again!

I would highly recommend Jay and CULTIV8 LANDSCAPE SERVICES,LLC. My wife and I have used them a couple times now and he's great to work with and does a great job. Always showed up when he said he was going to be at the house and delivered on everything he said he would do.
