James resurfaced our garage floor with a product that he highly recommended. When the flooring repeatedly chipped, he came out and did small repairs on it two or three times but laid the blame on the builder for not "curing the cement" 20 years ago. The last time he came out to fix an area that had peeled up, he dumped lacquer all over the floor (looks deliberate because I cannot imagine any professional painter would have left such a sloppy uneven mess) which looks worse than the area that had peeled up. When I wrote him to see if he could fix the mess he left, he said that because the lacquer had now hardened, he would need to grind down the entire floor at a cost of $600 in order to repair it and that is the only way he can fix it. My husband and I feel that he deliberately made a mess of our flooring on this last visit because he was annoyed at trying to fix areas he was unable to repair. There is no way a respectable professional painter could have left a job this way. When we asked him to repair just the thick gobs of lacquer that he smeared over the floor, he refused to do it and said that the floor was "still functional, it is only a cosmetic problem." This is a concrete garage floor. Of course it is "functional," and we only wanted it resurfaced for cosmetic reasons in the first place. I would recommend avoiding James for any painting job.
