The contractor was very informative on the phone and quoted a range for how much the work would cost. He performed all work as requested and pointed out that our bathroom sink drain also needed to be cleaned so we agreed to that as well. All of the other work has held up fine but the bathroom sink is not really draining anymore.
Overall we were not satisfied with this provider. He quoted the price of the work as a range but come to find out it was really at an hourly rate. We didn't mention him taking phone calls and troubleshooting other people's plumbing issues and setting up appointments for them because we thought we were paying a price within the range quoted (range based on what supplies he needed for the type of p-traps we had). Come to find out, all of those phone calls were on our time at a rate of $84.50 an hour.
At the end of the day, the high end of his quote would have been a total of $250. Final bill was $359.04. Surprise charges include a $10 trip charge and a $45 electric sewer machine charge. Plus we paid 3 full hours of labor (1-4pm) when he showed up at 1 and was handing us the invoice at 3:50pm (after at least 20 minutes of phone calls as well!). Oh, and the electric sewer machine that he used for drain cleanout needed batteries that we had to scramble to find for him.
