The appointment for my cat was easy to make, and no patients were waiting at this practice when we arrived. The parking lot was empty. We soon discovered why.
Dr. Ralph W. Raymond is a big overweight bald man who showed absolutely no compassion toward me or my cat on our first meeting. He did not introduce himself or his staff (who I understand are his wife and daughters). Instead of asking me questions about my cat's symptoms, he immediately proceeded to spray down the exam table, rub my cat's fur over it, then point out little dots of what he called "flea poop". When I insisted that the cat was flea-free, he immediately overrode me and said impatiently, "Don't tell me my job, lady, I've been doing this for 40 years." When I again insisted that the cat is treated topically monthly, he went into a lengthy explanation of why the product I use is basically useless and then tried to sell me another product. I brush and comb my cat (using a flea comb) daily. No evidence of fleas has been found by me!
This man was so unpleasant, unfriendly, and unprofessional that I am surprised that he even had a business to run. I have owned cats my whole life. I am well-educated, well-mannered, and well-spoken and he seemed determined to make me feel small and stupid. When I finally had my fill, I packed my cat into the carrier, paid $42 for 15 minutes of his useless diatribe and basically told him where to stick his flea medication. Instead of turning and walking away, he actually confronted me and called me names.
To close, let me say this. I wouldn't take my pet to Dr. Ralph Raymond at Lakeland Animal Clinic even if she were DEAD!

They are very good. I don't know about the price. They seem to know what they are doing. I would recommend them.

I feel very comfortable with Doctor Raymond. He explains every procedure and talks with layman terms. He does not go over my head. He is very good. He makes me understand the problem and what needs to be done. I have never used any veterinarian than him. I talked to his daughter and they were very friendly. They tell me what to do, I am at home with them.
