I have had transmission issues as well as a significant electrical issue on my ML320. Looking at the 100+ fault codes, I was overwhelmed on where to start. Having had the entire tranny replace 6 years earlier, I was in no disposition to replace it again (at $6K+). Grant's recommended that we tackle the most likely and least expensive parts first to eliminate possibilities. The worst case scenario would be that EVERYTHING would need to be replace anyway. After tackling the first part at around $80, we eliminated about 20 codes. This was enough for Grant's to and quot;put his moneyand quot; on the and quot;transfer case motorand quot; which is the 4-wheel drive switching motor being bad. Sure enough, at just over $150 all other fault codes disappeared and it has run flawlessly two years since!
