He calls himself Francisco, but his real name is David Estevez. I suppose that he hides his real identity due to the fact that his work is terrible. David a.k.a. Francisco quoted me a price of $1000 to finish my ceiling and walls in my two-car garage. He subcontracted the ceiling work to another painter (Mike). Mike told me that he was hired only to do the ceiling. Mike did a satisfactory job on the ceiling. I gave David a $500 cash deposit, and the remote control to my garage, so he could finish, and paint my garage on Saturday while I was away. I return home on Sunday afternoon, and I could not believe how bad my garage looked. David did not spackle, sand, or even wipe down the walls prior to painting. He painted over everything including an old screw sticking out of the wall. I immediately sent him a text expressing my dissatisfaction. He called me back and told me to get some tape and mark the spots that needed attention, and he would fix those areas. I told him that I would need an entire roll of tape because the imperfections were all over the walls. David came to my house with a small putty knife attempting to fix the walls with a 1-inch nail hole filler. He then sanded and painted the walls again. It looked a little better, but it was still really bad. At this point, I just wanted him out of my house so I wrote him a check for the $500 balance due. I was unable to sleep that night because I felt that I paid for something that I did not get. The next morning I decided to hire another painter to finish the walls the proper way. The new painter came over and quoted me $350 plus material. I called David (Francisco) and told him that I stopped payment on the check because the job was not satisfactory. I told him that I still wanted to pay him something to avoid aggravation. David (Francisco) was extremely angry and told me several times that it is only a garage, the walls should not have to look like the inside of your house. He came back to my house screaming and yelling, while the new painter was fixing all of his imperfections... At this point, I did not want to pay him anything, but I gave him another $300 cash as he returned my voided check. This project is now costing me $1250, and David (Francisco) feels like the victim.
