Thanks so much Mark...
Mark came out and removed the bees and did some work with the honey in the rafters. He started to fix things here and there in the attic and around the house and before I knew it I had a bill in excess of $6000. There are two problems to this story.
1. He never finished the work and
2. I now have a bee nest in the exact same spot as big as a watermelon. I called the Palm Beach County Bee Keeper Association and they stated there is no way I would have a nest that large so soon in the same spot if the Queen was killed.
The neighbors who referred him called and called and I have called and called and we have all emailed asking him to come over to finish and fix several of the things he has refused to rectify.
I wrote this email personally to Mark who now claims he will not come over because my neighbors are harassing him which is totally ridiculous as they are only asking him to finish the work we already paid for.
Mark I’m most disappointed in you. Without your many quotations from the Bible, you are nothing more than a BAIT AND SWITCH ARTIST. First you give me a written statement for removal of the bees and the riddance of the rats…$300 and $350- which you charged me in access of $6000. I paid you IN FULL.So I was had by a super BAIT AND SWITCH ARTIST. You not only did this, but you had complete run of the house. Then when I asked you to come and finish the job two months later, no word from you. You did say that you didn’t want to come to be blamed for taking things. An odd thing for you to say UNLESS YOU TOOK SOMETHING.and quot;
I have now had to pay for another contractor to come over and fix the interior work that I could no longer wait on. However the bees are still an issue. I am well into my 80s. I have been taken full advantage of, this company has been paid in full and I just want TRAP n GO to keep his contract and remove these bees. They are now entering my home.
"Addressing this erroneous report filed with AL to stop defamation of a locally owned and owner operated small business. On June 4th we went to the above address as a favor for a business contact who was concerned about a nest of bees at his neighbor’s house. As he described the nest of bees were on the 2nd floor roof area. Upon arrival I found that honey bees had made an entrance into the attic area and informed the owner that my standard rate for bee removal was $350.00, as a reference we gave a $50.00 discount. As I accessed the upstairs bedroom area I noticed an extremely strong odor of urine. Upon opening of the attic hatch the rat urine smell was overwhelming and the bees started attacking me as they were drawn to the flashlight trying to defend the hive. Now I was confronted with a major rat infestation and the bees in the attic issue. As I had no ability to ascertain the size of the bee hive, I explained that I have set prices for bee removal and rat trapping, but repair of the wall after we remove the whole hive can only be done on a time and material basis. I explained that I only charge for time on the job and give the customer actual receipts for the materials used in the repair of the openings. Each step of the projects were well documented with photos and videos of the 15 gallons of honey and hive removed, and other work performed. All photos were sent to the customer on a daily basis. A feature that AL does not allow me to provide in our defense. Actual invoices were given for each phase of the work: Bee Removal - $300.00 Rat Trapping and removal - $350.00 Repair of wall outside stucco 4’x3’ and painting to match color Repair of drywall inside upstairs bedroom and sanding and painting - $750.00 Materials with receipts - $91.90 Totaling - $1,491.00 Now the issue that has been totally omitted from the customer’s letter is the remediation work in the attic. The entire attic was soaked with urine, rat feces and nests that posed a respiratory health risk to the customer. The proposal was to vacuum the entire 24sf of attic area, disinfect the entire area with industrial grade disinfectant and replace the contaminated insulation to an R factor of 30 with Owens Corning blown in insulation. The industry average for this type of work is in the $3.50 to $5.00 per square foot range. Our price was ½ the average as we understood that money was a major issue. The price of $4,166.00 equipment, labor materials included, was agreed to and we completed the entire restoration in 3 days. The project was completed and prior to receiving final payment was inspected by the neighbor who referred us. After a discount of $50.00 was given, we received the final check. Now over three months later, we are told that we must come back to the property to remove a new batch of bees and hand a picture. As most pest control companies will only give a 35 day guarantee on bee removal, we in good faith at our own cost, contacted a major pest control company and they responded immediately. The reported that no bees were in the attic and they were able to spray the baseball size hive. Here is a list of work done at no charge: 1. Replaced and painted attic access molding 2. Cut down tree rats were using to enter house 3. Banded 3 palm trees to eliminate ability of further infestations"
