South Florida Roofing

South Florida Roofing was quick to respond with proposal, material delivery and installation, after I noticed a significant water stain and leak on my bedroom ceiling. Rectangular 300 Sq foot roof was recommended for replacement. Agreed to terms. Was satisfied with quality of material and installation. When the first crew responded, I specifically asked and was told my the roof would have a pitch. However, company did not create a pitch to the flat roof. I assumed that they would. Water pools on the roof. I checked the roof myself and took photos of the water pooling. Questioned local inspector. He told me, and I verified, that the building code for replacement flat roofs are not required to have a pitch. Brought my concern to South Florida Roofing. Contractor told me roof installed to code. Pitch not needed as long as water evaporates within 48 hours. I am assuming this is for the material warranty. When I brought up the issue that I was told from the initial response that the roof would have a pitch, the coordinator told me the this was wrong information and I should not have been told the roof would have a pitch. Conveyed that I would pay extra to have the flat roof pitched. Contractor said that pitch would be a relatively easy job, and that he would send a crew over to accomplish this. I waited a week, and this never happened. South Florida website advertises 100% customer satisfaction. Which in my case WAS NOT achieved. I don't think what I requested is unreasonable. Having a pitch on a flat roof replacement may not be required by code, but best practice does recommend a pitch for a flat roof. I wish the coordinator was more involved with educating and involving me with any options or upgrades. I had to inquire about copper flashing with the installation crew. A well worthwhile upgrade. Was told copper flashing unavailable due to material shortage / supply chain issue. Communication with the company was fair at best. Although office staff was polite and courteous, I remember 3 times being told someone would get back with me either later in the day or the next day. Never received any call backs and would have to seek . answers and info from the crew when they arrived. In all fairness, two times I called, I was able to speak to the project coordinator. I have used Angie's probably over 10+ times over the years, spending tens of thousands of dollars on repair, and upgrade home improvement projects. This is the ONLY time that the provider I used did not fully meet my recommendations. if a homeowner decides to use South Florida Roofing, try to educate yourself as best as you can and ask plenty of questions. I hope South Florida Roofing reads this review and contacts me for resolution. I would gladly modify or add to my review of a great job done. I would really like to keep the perfect record of Angie providers delivering top notch, A1 service. My review is meant to be constructive and not in anyway punitive or disparaging. South Florida Roofing, in my opinion should be pro active with customer needs and wished. ,
