I have a 5 month of German Shepherd who has been a loveable handful. She would consistently jump on everyone she met and would bite people. This has caused us so much frustration to the point where I was willing to pay an arm and a leg for a dog training lodge.. the ones that would cost enough for my family and me to go on a Disney Cruise... So as I was searching for months I finally ran into Pawfection Dog Training so I decided to see what all his awards and accolades were about. I gave them a call and Pennie was so informative and so kind when she was answering all of my questions. So, I decided to give them a call and schedule an appointment and WOW the difference is night and day. Not only did Darryl fix my german shepherds problems that were causing us so much headache, but he did it in about an hour... I am still AMAZED at how knowledgable and clear he was on how we can not only fix the problem but explained to us why our puppy acted the way she did. I literally cannot recommend them enough, they were very professional, AFFORDABLE, and Darryl's training has brought so much relief into my house! Thank you guys so much I look forward to the other training Darryl and Pennie offer at Pawfection Dog Training.

The difference in behavior in my puppy in just one session was amazing! He is a 7-month old Shepherd mix and has lots of energy, which manifested in excessive barking, jumping, mouthing, dragging me around our complex on his leash, etc. After our afternoon training with Darryl, he is now well-mannered and has proper outlets for his energy. EVERYONE has noticed the change in behavior, from my neighbors to my family and friends. I highly recommend Pawfection because they take pride in their work and genuinely care about you and your dog and the issues you’re facing. Both Darryl and Pennie were great to work with and I can’t thank them enough for their assistance!

Darryl and Pennie are amazing. We have a 4 year old Shepherd mix (male) and recently added a 5 year old Shepherd mix (female) to our family. We had some adjustment issues with food aggression and general behavior problems. They truly did fix both us and the dogs in just a couple hours. So glad to have met them both.

It went very well! By the time Daryl left our pet was not barking as much! Daryl taught us how to control and teach our dog.

"[Member Name Removed] if the dog is still barking please reach out to me and I will send Darryl back. We don't mind one or two barks to let you know someone is at the door but anything more is excessive and if this is the case please give me a call as Darryl would not have left until it was completely fixed. I want you to be totally happy"

What a great experience I have had with Pawfection. I take my dog to the obedience & agility group training. I learned at the first class some basic handling skills and how they train from both ends of the leash. Rocky loves going to class as it challenges him mentally and physically. Previously, I was never able to walk Rocky without him pulling and tugging to the point of it being unsafe. Now our walks are so much fun and he is able to go to stores and socialize with other dogs during the week. Darryl and Pennie (along with all of their trainers) are knowledgeable and caring. They make it such a positive experience me and my dog.

Wow! Just wow!!! Darryl Payne with Pawfection just gave me my life back. My mom moved in with us and brought her 9 month old Goldadore, Riley. I had 2 dogs of my own and adding Riley to the mix turned our house upside down. I couldn't take it any more. So I called to schedule Pawfection to come save us. My mom was very skeptical. How can they fix it in one day let alone 2 hours? Yea right, it's just gonna be a long road of more visits for more money. I can't even put into words the shock and awe we are feeling right now. Our house is quite. Dogs aren't fighting, barking or chewing everything in sight. You dont hear every member of the family yelling stop, give it back, drop it, or get down. It truly is amazing how good Pawfection is. The price was WAY less than everyone else and it was ONE visit. Less than 2 hours and Boom, the pack was right side up. I'm sorry I'm going on and on but I am just so grateful for Pawfection and the fact that I have my sanity back. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I have been attending the Saturday obedience/agility classes for a year. My golden girl is a pleasure to take on daily walks now. She is obedient meeting people and other dogs. I receive multiple compliments regarding her behavior. Darryl and his team go above and beyond to work with you regarding any issues you may have with your pup. The classes are fun and the pups have a great time.

My young golden retriever started her training in September 2016 with weekly group training. She was about 15 weeks old at the time. We have continued our weekly training sessions and she has progressed to being able to work off leash for obedience and agility. I now realized how long and how hard both she and I have to work to have a well-trained dog. We have also participated in Therapy Dog training at Pawfection Therapy Dog Training for a 6-month period. We are now a Therapy Dog team and visit schools and assisted living facilities on a regular basis. If you are looking for an excellent training group for your dog, contact Pawfection Dog Training.

Excellent!! Darryl, Pennie, and their team of trainers are excellent. We initially signed up for the 6-week puppy class, which focuses on socialization and confidence-building for the puppy during their “puppy-hood,” as Pennie calls it. The class is different every week and teaches puppy parents about different hot topics each class, while maintaining the same class structure. Our puppy, my husband, and I all have a great time in class and learn a lot of important basics. We learned so much and had such great results with our pup that we continued for two additional 6-week puppy courses. We have since graduated to a beginner adult class after consulting with Pennie based on our dog’s performance and maturity level. Pennie and Darryl really keep a eye on the dogs and genuinely care about your dogs progress and safety. They do an excellent job of assessing your dogs ability and make sure that your dog moves along in the courses at a rate that challenges your pup, but doesn’t over work them or push them Beyond their limits. We plan on continuing classes indefinitely because we see such great progress and truly enjoy our time in class and with the staff. They clearly are experts and have a lot of experience in training dogs and teaching humans. Not only are they great in class, but they are also excellent for the in-home training. Darryl came to our home and helped us correct some behavioral issues and helped us to understand how to prevent new ones. Pennie and Darryl are also great over the phone responding to questions that arise here and there. Another great thing about Pawfection is that they don’t try to sell you any products, merchandise, promote a store, and are extremely fair with their cost. They are the most affordable, effective training squad in the area and their entire team is friendly, helpful, and LOVE to be involved in your dog’s learning. Last thing to note is that Pawfection also is very actively involved in improving the lives of children and animals through constant charity work in our community. It’s great to see a family business excel AND give back!

In december of 2016 Darryl came to our house to help us deal with a rowdy 3 month old puppy. In a little over an hour, my husband and I gained more "dog knowledge" than we've ever known. We learned how dog learn and that we were contributing to her poor behavior. We were offered the chance to "come and see" the saturday obedience and agility course in Winter Springs. We have now been with Pawfection for over 2 years!! We love the trainers and how they focus on the positive rather than the negative! We now have an amazing, well-behaved 2 1/2 year old GREAT dog thanks to Pawfection and the amazing trainers!

My Westie Teddie loves the classes. He started in the puppy class and is now in the advanced class. The trainers are very caring and also very good. What Teddie and I like best is that the classes do both obedience and agility training. I also like that the training is not treat based.

Amazing! Thankful for Darryl Payne and Pennie Payne and the entire Pawfection team for their knowledge and willingness to work with the dogs of Central Florida. I can not say enough about their group classes on Saturdays as well as the one on one in home training with Darryl. We have a large dog that is pleasant to be around for our home guests and can be taken places to enjoy life after being rescued. Thank you so much. You are making a wonderful impact to our community in serving this way!

Pawfection dog training has been wonderful for my puppy. It gives him socialization with other puppies, as well as, helps to build trust between my dog and me. The practice recall they do gives me comfort in that if my dog ever escaped he would come back when called. If you ever have a question just ask, they give very good advise on any puppy question! We will continue training with Pawfection!

I've been with Pawfection for the past 2 years and have trained three of my dogs through them. I highly recommend them. My youngest has been in training since he was a pup and has advanced through the classes. The company offers in home training and group training in Winter Springs. I opted for the group training. The trainers are fabulous and I have learned a lot about handling my dogs. I receive compliments almost daily on the dogs behavior and actually had one who was saved by the training done on the emergency stop. The group classes help the dogs learn to socialize in an appropriate manner with other dogs of all shapes, sizes and even disabilities. One of the pups in my current class is in a doggie wheelchair but still does the larger tunnels, recalls and A-frames. She is an inspiration to all of us. The group classes are not meant to be one-on-one or to have individualized attention unless needed. I've found that Darryl, Pam, Ellen or Nicole will jump in if they see an owner or pup needing additional assistance, but the value is in learning from them how to handle the dog yourself. They are always available for questions or advice. I've learned a lot over the last two years and continue to learn every week. My dog looks forward to Saturday mornings - actually waits by the door and whines until I put him in the car. I enjoy it as well. Like anything else, you will get out of it what you put into it. Many thanks to the Pawfection family!

It has taken me a few weeks to sit down and write this review without anger or resentment towards Darryl or, especially, Pennie; after all, their behavior says more about them than it does me. I have taken three of my dogs through various courses they offer. My husky, Zulu, was taken to weekend classes as a puppy until she was one year old, she also went to a few weeks of nose work classes. My dog, Jax, went all the way through the therapy dog course with me and we both received nothing but praise. My newest dog, Maple, who this review will mostly focus on, went through six weekend classes before we finally said enough is enough with this company. Maple was born with two deformed front legs. She has been to two separate vet hospitals seeing several different doctors, all reassuring us that Maple can get around perfectly fine without assistive devises. As she ages, arthritis will become an issue, but an issue we are already addressing. High impact activities are to be avoided as much as possible. Meaning no long distance running on hard surfaces, no jumping off anything too high, etc. Low impact activities are stamped with the vet’s approval though. Things like running and playing in the grass, on the beach, around the house, even casual strolls around the neighborhood are 100% fine! As a personal choice, we opted to buy Maple a wheelchair made for dogs. While not required, it keeps her from getting tired as quickly so she could join us on longer walks. Pawfection wishes to start an anti-bullying program in Florida schools and were immediately drawn to Maple’s very obvious physical deformities. They informed me that they would gladly pay for her to go through their therapy dog program so that she could be an advocate for their anti-bullying agenda. To get Maple working on her manners, we decided to start weekly training classes. On June 1 this year, Maple and I were attending the last of her six week prepaid classes. We paid the full $135, same as everyone else. Yet in the first five classes we were almost entirely ignored. Having previously taken one dog to classes, I was under no illusion that Darryl would actually be doing the training, Darryl rarely leads any class but the most advanced dogs. However, they also would not allow Maple to be out of her wheels, this meant Maple could do only circle work, then we would be sent to the corner with the one other handicapped dog while everyone else did agility where we were entirely ignored. One day we stood and watched everyone without doing a single thing, just to see if anyone was paying attention. Nothing. Not even a glance from one of five or so trainers present. By no means do I make enough money to pay full price, yet only participate, in one-third of the class, so I decided to ask why we could not participate, sans wheels, in the low impact agility (weaving poles, small A-frames, tunnels). Darryl informed me he would need a vets note of approval. He was unwilling to accept that no vet had ever prescribed her a wheelchair, that it was a personal choice. So I said that maybe near the end of summer I could get the vet to write a note and we would come back, but with therapy class starting soon, she would be getting training and that I could not afford to come every Saturday to only participate in a fraction of the class. Everything was fine. About 10 minutes later, Pennie stormed over and informed me that, “we need to talk.” Immediately she offered me an ultimatum, either pay for, and attend classes continually, or they will not put Maple through their therapy dog course. I, of course, explained my situation to her. This explanation was met with an indignant look. How dare I accuse them of not doing what I had paid them to do, train. Pennie became visibly upset and began saying no vet would EVER approve Maple doing things out of her wheels. Maple is incapable of walking and maneuvering even the simplest of obstacles. Accusing me of being a “CRUEL OWNER,” and, “pushing her to her breaking point” because I allow her to walk and play without her wheelchair. My personal favorite was when I asked her if she thought she knew my dog better than me, to which she answered, “yes.” Pennie has never even pet Maple, nor taken a close look at her feet, not even spent more than 10 seconds looking in her direction. Absurd. Suddenly I realized Maple was being excluded from these activities because of the way she looked, which I then pointed out to Pennie. Those who want to preach inclusion should probably start with the dogs they are using for that purpose, correct? This infuriated her. She asked me what I do for a living. For those wondering, I am a pet sitter/dog walker. I love my job and do it with passion. I have been doing it for 15 years! I have worked in dog boarding facilities, pet stores, am pet CPR and first aid certified, not to mention easily passed Pawfection’s “oh-so-hard” therapy dog course to become a certified and insured therapy dog handler. Pennie openly laughed in my face when I told her this. She asked me, “what makes me think I am qualified to be a “pet sitter”?” Yes, she used air quotes. I began with my years of experience, to which she replied, “EXPERIENCE IS NOT A QUALIFICATION!” To quote from pawfection’s own web page, “Experience is the most important element.” When talking about Darryl, they are sure to mention his experience first and foremost. She continued to berate me and tell me how unqualified and bad I am at my job. Telling me I know nothing about handicapped dogs because Maple is my first. Bad news, I actually have two handicapped dogs and care for many others on a regular basis! As she stomped away from me she turned and yelled that she will go ahead and take us out the therapy class. I then asked why she was so mad? She didn’t reply, just trudged away. It was not until later, when speaking to others from the class, that one lady pointed out that I had just been bullied, it had not occurred to me until that moment. A differing of opinions about a dog had been turned into a personal attack on me, my knowledge, my job. The very definition of bullying. Later, my fiancé called to ask why I came home so upset. He was rightfully angry and spoke louder than usual. He pointed out that Pennie had bullied me, but she refused to accept that her comments had hurt my feelings, which is not something she gets to decide. Darryl refused to talk on the phone. Pennie then said that because his voice was raised and he had called her a bully, that she was now being bullied! I don’t think that’s how it works! Darryl, when he actually puts forth the effort, may indeed be good at training dogs. No one will know until he starts training the difficult dogs and returning to them when the issue was not fixed the first time. What will be the downfall of this company will be how horridly Pennie treats people. “Dog trainers wife” is not a qualification I will EVER recognize to give advice on what me or my dog are capable of. Darryl may be the dog trainer, but Pennie wears the pants and Pennie does not care about what is best for your dog, only about money and image. This was my most negative experience with this company, but not my only negative experience with them. This was just the last straw.
Response from Pawfection Dog Training, LLC

"This review is littered with lies and factual omissions Bottom line is that we offered Maple a free 6 month therapy course with us to participate in a school’s anti bullying program - she was attending the group training to bring her obedience up to standard for that course. Maple’s front legs are deformed and as such without wheels (only acquired when we insisted) her elbows scrape along the ground. The author of this review told us that she wanted her dog, Maple to do the agility and we simply told her that before the dog could attempt the agility equipment we required clearance from her veterinarian for each obstacle to ensure it was not going to be injurious to her. The author refused and then lashed out on as many sites and review sites as possible to trash our name. I have previously had to speak to This woman about walking Maple on a concrete sidewalk in over 100 degrees on her front elbows where she had taken Maple’s wheels off against my instructions because “she wanted to treat her as a normal dog” My opinions here are based on 30 years professionally working and training dogs both as a Police k9 handler and supervisor responsible for the welfare of over 300 police dogs and investigator of allegations of cruelty against dogs together with 20 years as a pet dog trainer and behavioral consultant. I believe This woman’s treatment of the dog on this occasion amounted to neglect at best and cruelty at worst. Her insistence that this dog be forced over agility equipment without medical clearance further shows that this is a person who is either misinformed or deluded, this is particularly worrying as she is a “professional” dog walker. This review does not accurately reflect the facts, is inflammatory and is akin to a toddler throwing a teddy in the corner because it can’t get its own way. Oddly the author of this has attended my group training, therapy training with another dog and search training and up until she couldn’t get her own way we were the best thing since sliced bread! We deal with handicapped dogs all the time (see the Facebook page for an extraordinary journey of hope to see inclusive we are) I am father to a handicapped daughter and husband to a handicapped wife, I am more than aware of the importance of inclusion but would never allow a dog to suffer abuse to satisfy the ego of an owner. I could t speak to her husband at the time he was screaming down the phone like a scalded cat at my wife as I was actually taking a class at that time. It worries me slightly that he is a commercial pilot with that lack of self control tbh. I will reflect on the 86 A rated reviews and won’t let this delineated rant upset me."

Absolutely amazing! We adopted Bella, a german shepherd rescue, a few months ago and our problems have been jumping (on everyone), barking excessively, pulling on the leash and destroying property. We made an appointment and were told exactly how to prepare for the training and exactly what to expect. Darryl came as scheduled and began with a powerpoint - very educational and informative about dog behavior, health, interactions with other dogs and humans and why they do what they do. We gave him the entire list of problems and he addressed each one. Some of the problems he was able to solve IMMEDIATELY! He showed us how to walk her (went on a nice long walk with us) and gave us guidance on exactly how to deal with the issues going forward. Bella is SO much more pleasant to be with! He gave recommendations for products that help (some I didn't even know existed!) but doesn't sell things to you. Actually, there was one product he does sell if you want it but he had me check the price online and said "don't buy it from me, you can get it cheaper on Amazon"! He also talked about diet - dog food and treats - and gave recommendations for those (as they will affect behavior). He does *not* instruct you to buy the most expensive stuff, which is nice. He encouraged us to reach out if we need any additional help after the visit and offered to have us participate in his group training session for free. The whole thing took about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. He really spends all the time you need but is able to deal with things fairly quickly. This guy was WELL worth what we paid - seriously I believe it's the same training you get from others paying thousands and Pawfection gives it to you for only hundreds. Darryl really knows his stuff and we are so happy we called this great organization!!

I arranged an in-home visit with Darryl Payne to help with calming my 2 golden retrievers when people came to the door. Darryl provided a short intensive lesson in how to work with my dogs and what to expect. Then we worked with both the dogs. In a relatively short time, both dogs stopped the excessive barking when someone came to the door and allowed the person to enter without jumping on them. We also put both dogs into the weekly training sessions on Saturday morning. My younger dog started classes at about 13 weeks and is still taking weekly classes at the age of 2 and a half. My older dog has been in training for about a year and a half. Both dogs love the agility equipment and they have picked up the obedience commands quite well. I am able to walk both dogs for about 2 miles every morning both on and off leash depending on the environment with little worry about misbehavior. Both dogs have also been involved in Therapy Dog Training. The older dog is a Certified Therapy Dog with Pawfection and the younger one is close to finishing her training. The cost in time in money is well worth it because my dogs are learning to behave under different situations and I can take them with me with little concern that they will cause trouble.

I contacted Pawfection dog training in June 2018 regarding my Lhasa Apso companion. He had been attacked by a pack of dogs two years prior, since the attack he had become very dog reactive. With the arrival of a new puppy to our household his demeanor had gotten much worse. Our companion was now aggressive and biting us. The final straw was when he bit my oldest son in the face for no apparent reason. Darryl came out to the house and spent over two hours teaching me how to rectify this unwanted behavior. Darryl worked with my Lhasa as well as with the new puppy, he once again restored peace and harmony to our home. Frankly he saved my Lhasa’s life and returned joy that had been lost back to his world. There is no magical cure, we did the work that Darryl instructed us to do but Pawfection provided the clear instruction and tools needed to move forward. I happily report that my companion no longer takes anti-anxiety medications, CBD oils and can go out into the public, behave appropriately and enjoy outings with us. Our puppy was enrolled in the puppy classes and is currently participating in her third session of agility and manners training. We are proud to be a part of the Pawfection family. Darryl, his wife Penny, and the other trainers are wonderful, talented and very accommodating. I am very pleased with the progress of both of our dogs. I have not only seen great progress in my dogs but in other dogs that attend the agility and manners trainings. Darryl is not your basic dog trainer, he truly is a behavioralist, his experience and knowledge provides insight and he does hold true to his slogan. He does train both ends of the leash. Pawfection has several training programs at different levels and I personally look forward to continuing our training with Pawfection.

Pawfection has been a godsend for our GSD, Schotzie! Although Darryl came highly recommended and I had listened to him for years on the radio, I was a bit skeptical. Our Shepherd, traumatized by a house fire, the loss of two pack mates and having to move several times during the rebuilding of our home had become so protective and aggressive we were afraid she was an accident waiting to happen. My original conversation was with Penny. She was so kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable, she listened and explained her take on what was going on and really put my mind at ease. The home visit with Darryl was incredible. Literally, in less than two hours Schotzie was calm and sitting next to Darryl as he rubbed her ears. Darryl took the time with us and provided us with the tools, knowledge and most importantly, the confidence to continue the training. Now, several months after our home visit, the sound of the door bell no longer sends her into crazed frenzy. Instead she looks at me making sure I hear the bell then goes back to her bed to lay down. While Darryl was at our home we discussed the dog aggression, he invited us to the weekend group obedience / agility classes. With a quite a bit of hesitation we tried to remain hopeful that Darryl could once again help her overcome another bad habit. Now several months later we have learned obedience, agility, self confidence and can now safely and confidently take her to class and both on-leash or off-leash feel confident she is comfortable in her surroundings. We have also moved on to scent class which she loves. As a working dog she has thrived on these new challenges. We could not be more grateful to Darryl and his team. It's wonderful that we can now take her for walks without the worries we had in the past. The pride I feel when people visit and say how calm and relaxed she is now, is all thanks to the work of the Darryl and the Pawfection team.

Daryll showed up on time and was polite, professional and AMAZING with my yellow lab Bentley. I have owned labs my entire life and have never had any other breed. I honestly thought that I could train Bentley myself, so after having him less than a year, I have lost three couches, a mattress and several rugs, shoes, you name it. Daryll spent about 45 minutes to and hour teaching my son and I the tricks we need to keep Bentley busy while we are not home. He also trained Bentley not to jump, bark, and how to walk nicely on a leash. I spent about 200 dollars with another trainer, who BIT my dog, BARKED at my dog, and snapped at my five year old son. I would recommend Pawfection to ANYONE who has a dog and thinks they can train it themselves. I am amazed at the complete 180 Bentley has made and can NOT wait to be able to invite people into my home again! We had a visitor yesterday and Bentley didn't run to the door, he didn't bark, he didn't jump on them.....it was a sight to see I tell you! This guy is AMAZING!

Was the best decision to have Daryl come to my home and help out with our shepherd. We had a few issues that needed to be dealt with, and at the end of our two hour session, I was able to take my dog for a walk again. It had been months of him pulling and charging at cars and people. And now it’s been like walking a new dog. I have never had any issues since. You HAVE to do the homework and be consistent in order for what WE are taught in order to train/control our dogs. Thank you Daryl for your past and continued help! You have made a world of difference ?

We hired this company for an in-home session to help us with our new rescue dog. Darryl Payne is truly a “dog whisperer”! In one session he helped our new one start on the road to becoming a family member. We have used one of those companies that charge a lot and offer lifetime service with previous dogs. We got more out of our one session with Darryl than multiple sessions with that other company. We have since begun the outside obedience group classes as well. To make it more fun and engaging for the pups they also include agility work. Our dog no longer has dominance issues with other dogs and has become much more trusting and bonded with us. I highly recommend Darryl and his team. They can help with issues you may have as well as obedience. They also offer additional training including Therapy Dogs, which we’ll be doing next!

The training is informative and very helpful. The techniques used actually work. I started my puppy with another trainer but quickly found that the training was not working. My dog and I learned more in one Saturday class with Pawfection than we did the 6 weeks at the other trainers. My dog now does agility, obedience, and scent work. He is trained to find guns and gun parts. I can take him out in public with out concern. Darryl is really amazing!
