I installed Windows 10.  Kept getting the pop-ups for it, it was free...what a mistake.  I don't have a smart phone, don't Skype, twitter, text, run a business out of my basement, so Windows 10 was wasted on me. I had purchased Windows 7 a few years ago, Star Tech installed it for about $50.00.  Except for a bug that ate all my files about 1 year ago.  I had no problems with 7,  my computer ran pretty fast, had a lot of memory, installed by Star Tech when they first opened about 5 years ago.  So, of course I took my baby back to them to reinstall 7, MY Windows 7.  Last week it cost me $100.00 to have them reinstall 7, the computed runs so   s l o w,   it takes forever to play a game of free cell and to write this review.  If they think I'll take it back to them to make it run as fast as it did before , they are mistaken.  I already had an unpleasant encounter with the owner when I dropped my baby off on Wednesday, and now this....I wont go back there again.

repaired my computer to above my expectations.  Did an excellent job and were completed much faster than I ever expected.  Had it done in couple days and I was not expecting it for about a week with all the work they had to do. |Very happy!

Took a laptop in that a cd drive that kept sliding out. Obviously it was
not secured in the computer. Did not have a screw that fit it. Took it
to them to have the drive secured properly. Dropped computer off and was
told it would be no problem. Later, wife went to pick up the computer
and was told it was fixed but it would be $35. To put one screw in and
turn a screw driver, this is ridiculous. They fixed it,  but I felt way
overcharged for it and were quite snobbish about it when I said that was
a very high price. The guy that I'm assuming was the owner was very snobby and said that was
a fair price for their labor. I should have gone to Lowe's and got the screw myself.

It went pretty well. This purchase actually started a little over a month ago when my wife and I purchased a new laptop from them as a replacement for her aging laptop. We were able to test each laptop and, again, all our questions were answered and we were sold just exactly what we wanted, nothing more was pushed on to us. The price was reasonable and the performance of that laptop is so good that this is what caused me to go back to see their other laptops. I didn't need one as fancy as the one my wife got and was shown all the options he had in stock. I settled on a midrange laptop that will last me for a few years. I did go to other places selling laptops and the service from those other businesses was lacking and they would not vary from the listed sticker price. Not all the display laptops were working or were connected to the internet so that I could test the performance. At Star Tech I felt comfortable negotiating a price for the laptop as well as the upgrades that I wanted. Star Tech does not accept checks. They will accept cash, credit / debit cards.

This place is a huge rip off. They sold my 75 year old grand mother a "refurbished" dell studio laptop telling her it was brand new. When I looked at it for her I discovered it was refurbished and didnt have the operating system that was labeled on the case. We took the laptop back and asked about the 2 issues. They young guy at the counter tried to talk around the issues I had and acted as If I didnt know what I was talking about. In the end he agreed to take the laptop and upgrade the operating system to match the vista stickers on the case and there would not be a charge. A couple of days later my grand mother returned to get it and the owner charged her an additional $117.00. $854.00 for a used laptop and $117.00 to correct their error... They will not get our business again.
