They were suppose to come out and check it out. They did not do the work at all but they charge me $495 so we have to hire somebody else to do the work. They won't even contact me to do anything or to fix the situation. No phone call, no voice message , no email. I would rate them a zero if I could as they are fraudulent company. I would tell everybody not to use them. Use A1 Gator Septic instead , they are cheaper , they came out , they take pictures. But Moon Site & Septic Inc did not do anything , I spent $495 for it but they do nothing.

They were professional and punctual. The office staff especially were a joy to deal with! I can be hard to understand at times, my English isn't the best, but they were polite, considerate, and took the time to make sure that they answered all of my questions. I would definitely use them again!

On Dec 15 2020 we hired this company to perform the 1st septic cleaning and inspection of our new residence. The pump truck did come sure enough it was pumped out. The service man did a quick check and clean the filter before the closing up. He tried sell me new riser and switch upgrade of $2,500-$4,000 but wrote down 'everything appears to be working in good order at this time' in the invoice. When asked for a formal inspection report which was part of the job, he stated it'll be in the mail. The services were paid ($275+$310) in check #1549 right after the works. Far forward 2 weeks after the holidays, I did not receive formal inspection report. I also noticed new puddle of waters forming on top of the sewer tank entrance. This is new we never have this problem before. I was very nervous and inquiring for assistance. I was told it will be a new service call for additional $225. I agreed in writing that I would pay for the additional service cost of $225, once they have the chance to inspect it and determine the problem is not related to their previous job. Now what's absurd is that this company then asked me to pay for the $225 'service call' in advance before coming out. Mind you I just paid them $585 after the service 2 weeks ago in check and it was clear. I am a good paying customer with proven clear record. I questioned the inconsistency of the charging practices and was brushed off as 'being rude' and 'we always do that for that type of service'. I felt I'm being discriminated and mistreated at this point and hung up. My dear reader / home owner, thanks for your patience reading through this long story. Hope you can make out your right decision based on the facts when hiring the right service provider.
Response from Moon Site & Septic Inc
"Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We provided an inspection for you. Your report was provided to you on the invoice, as explained. The report also showed a faulty float switch, which as explained may have been the cause of your new issue. You requested that we send out a technician to check on your new issue, which we agreed to. Taking payment in advance is a standard practice, especially for service calls. When the office staff requested payment you began to yell at the young lady (19 years old) and belittle her, accusing her of discriminating against you because you are a "minority". Immediately after you emailed me and said that you felt discriminated against. I apologized that you felt that way and asked if you would explain why you felt that way. Your reply was "It's your job to supervise her with policy. You should know. " I assure you, we did not ask for pre-payment due to any minority status. We are sorry that you see such horrible things where they simply do not exist. We employ and work with a variety of people from numerous backgrounds and value them all equally. Your treatment to our staff was completely unacceptable, especially towards a young lady. The fact that I myself am a minority makes the situation a tad more ironic. We wish you the best in your future endeavors."

October of 2019 Moon Site & Septic sent out a driver to resolve the issue of matter backing up into the house. They were quick to come out to fix the problem and I paid them with no problem. December 2020, the tank was already full causing matter and water to backed up into the house. I called them again and this time the charge was $685 because it was after hours. The driver who came out said that we were having this issue again because the previous guy who came did not do the job properly and was too lazy to clean both sides of the tank. HE also said the previous guy did not clean the filter. Once I told him, it was Moon Site & Septic who cleaned the tank the previous year, he refused to write that on the report. When I told him that I was going to call the company he said, "I never said that!" If you are going to take the money, get the job done properly. I call the dispatcher John to let him know that his previous guy collected $485 but only got the job done halfway, he told me that it was too late and he did not want to carry on a conversation with me. I would not recommend them. Dishonest work by some of the drivers.
Response from Moon Site & Septic Inc
"Hello! Thank you for the review. We really appreciate when our customers take a few moments from their busy schedule to write one so we absolutely love seeing a notification when a new one comes up! Please note that a typical residential septic tank (usually 900 - 1250 gallons) is typically full in approximately three days once it is pumped out, based on normal use. This is completely normal and the way that the system is deigned to work. I am afraid that it would be impossible to tell if someone cleaned the filter a year ago. I am afraid that we do not have any dispatchers named [Member Name Removed]. I do not see this address or your name listed in our database or on our scheduling software either. Would it be possible that you might be mistaking us for another company? We would ask that you double-check your records, however, and adjust your comments accordingly. Perhaps you can check a credit card receipt to see what company ran it? We are very sorry that you had this negative experience and would love a chance to discuss it with you, regardless if you may have dealt with another company. We are happy to make it right... even if we didn't deal with you to begin with!"

I don't recommend this company! Go somewhere else!!!!! They sent the pumping truck early the next day. When I saw it I meet the person on my driveway and asked him if he could check my problem with any type of tools and he said no that it was just a visual. So I called the company again and told the person who was the same person I spoke the day before that this is not the service I requested because I needed a technician who could inspect and fix the problem of my pump. And then the person on the phone said that this was the correct service and that he had sent the person to inspect my sewer so I had to pay him the $210 anyways. I told him I will pay for the correct service we agreed upon but he insisted it was the one he sent. So I told the driver that I didn't need a visual inspection so I told the person to go and he did but the next thing I know is that one of the owners of the company shows up in my house with a police officer because I owned him money. I explained the situation to the officer and then paid the $210. The funny thing is that this company installed the sewer with pipe and tank 3 years ago but I'm the new owner and they said they didn't have any records of it.

"Hello, We are sorry that you had a negative experience. If you note all of our other reviews, here and elsewhere, you will see that we do perform quality work with top-notch customer service. We have been doing business since the 1980s and place a high value on our customers, both old and new alike. It was explained several times prior to scheduling the appointment what the scope of work included. We sent a technician and truck out as agreed for the agreed amount. Unfortunately, a septic pump is submerged unlike a well pump which is above ground with impellers and other parts that can simply be changed or cleaned. The tank needs to be pumped in order to provide physical access to the pump. If we would have been permitted to move forward and replace it, the charge that you incurred would have likely covered it. There is a procedure that needs to be done but unfortunately you would not permit us to follow it - it is like a mechanic diagnosing your vehicle without opening the hood. We wish you luck moving forward."

Rich the owner is an outstanding human being. I called Moon Septic in desperation after another plumbing company attempted to fix my drain field and performed bad work. The septic system quit and I was already 7k in the hole with this plumbing company. Rich coached me on how to work with this company to get my money back and Moon Septic provided outstanding service to correctly fix my drain field. I highly recommend.

I scheduled them for a window of 8 - 11 am. They arrived at 12:15 pm and did not let me know that they were running late until I called them. They were very highly priced and tell you that it is $265 for the first 900 gallons and .38 cents per gallon after that. You have no clue how many gallons you have until they open it up and say "Price is going to be $417 do you want me to do it?" Honestly, at that point you have no option. I am not sure if this is industry practice, but it just seemed like a lot of money for a total of 15 minutes of work. Not to mention, they covered up everything before I had a chance to inspect and make sure it was fully drained. I will be using someone else in the future and I suggest you do as well.

Good morning,Just a quick note to say I am very impressed by the work Jason and Jeremy did. Very professional, came out when he said he would on time, did a very thorough job, and cleaned up after themselves. Many businesses could learn from your ethics....Thank you,I didn't realize this is supposed to be done on a biannual basis, now I know, and I'll use you in two years......

from OM the start with Elsie answering the phone, I felt comfortable that all would be done.....

John responded personally to my first phone call about our septic pump, and came out later that day to look over our system. As suspected, we needed a new pump, but we found out from John's inspection that we also needed new electrical service to the pump. John clearly explained how he would address each step of the problem all the way from the breaker box to the pump. Ours is an old system, but he didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need ~ it was clear that bad wiring had ruined the pump. He made two valuable suggestions ~ that we install a warning light with the new pump and that we have the system pumped. John quoted our price and after a friendly discussion about the 2 year warranty, the 24 hour service, and the concept of "YGWYPF" (you get what you pay for) we shook hands and made a plan.
Although there was some initial confusion over scheduling, Moon was quick to respond. Once they arrived, Jason was the lead technician on the job; he and his assistant were very pleasant to work with, and Jason was quite knowledgeable and patient with our questions and comments. For much of the time they needed access to a part of our home that contains some delicate equipment and sentimental valuables. Both were respectful of the space and the equipment.
In addition to inside access to our home, they obviously needed to dig up our yard and cut back some bushes. We were pleasantly surprised at how careful they were when trenching the power and finding the septic lid, leaving as little damage as possible. We are very happy with the work John, Jason and the Moon crew did for us, and we will continue to use them in the future (I'm guessing that with this old system of ours, we'll become pretty good customers!!).

From the first call to the completed service, exceptional. Elsie on the phone was very informative, friendly and gracious. Lynn came out to do the work and he was FANTASTIC. He taught me all about my system, explained the process from beginning to end. Pumped out 1100 gal tank that was FULL, cleaned filter. He was personable, honest and sincere. Really happy with this company, wouldn't consider using anyone else since this encounter.

When I contacted them on the Thursday prior to service I asked if I could pay by credit card over the phone because I could not be there when they performed the service. John (one of the owners) told me no problem after they completed the service he would give the information to his receptionist and she would call me for payment. When they showed up the next day my roommate was asked for payment immediately. She was told if they did not receive it the waste would be put back into the tank. When she explained that I was the homeowner and there was a agreement about taking payment over the phone from me the service guy knew nothing about it. My roommate ended up paying out of her pocket so he wouldn't put the waste back in. When I called the roommate after less than two hours of service I immediately contacted John at Moon to find out where the disconnect of our conversation happened. I told him I didn't appreciate how my roommate was basically threatened for payment. He said that he wasn't there but he was sure that my roommate must of miss understood his service guy. He told me that he requires payment immediately after services are performed. I then told him that this was not relayed to me the previous evening or I would have made other arrangements to get him payment. He apologized for the miss communication but said that he has been burned in the past and now he requires this. I told him I had No problem with this if he would have explained/communicated this the night before. My roommate was left paying for this service and now I had to waste time getting her the money back when this would have never happened if he would have told me what was expected.

6/27/15 My apologies for not responding to this sooner. When I called to schedule this service the person was told that I was not going to be there that is why I asked them if they could take a credit card over the phone and he told me No problem when the paperwork gets back to the office the secretary would call me and take my information. If I was told then that payment was due immediately then I would have made other arrangements to have payment ready. My employer does not allow us to take personal calls during working ours so I could not contact you until I had a scheduled break which was only two hours later. Miscommunication is the biggest issue here, if you have been in business this long this should not have been an issue for you. I thought the person and I had an understanding about this service so I'm not sure why you state you were surprised about not having payment immediately. And we all take chances everyday, I'm a business owner as well so I'm well aware of choices that have to me made. Again this would not have been an issue if payment due immediately would have been relayed to me at time of scheduling.

Response from Moon Site & Septic Inc
"Ms [member name removed], First and foremost PLEASE except our apology. Hindsight is always 20/20 and we all learn from our mistakes. We have been in business since 1985 and with all things changes have to be made as time goes on. If this will help you we can reverse the charges on your room mates card and then charge yours ? Should you decide please call our office and the secretary would be happy to assist you with that. We have a lot of customers that pay by credit card and over the phone. What surprised us is when we came out & it was at the time you requested we assumed you would be available as agreed. Furthermore when we asked your room mate to contact you they stated they had no way of reaching you and / or a phone number either. Now this was not a normal practice for us to imply we would return the waste back into the tank but with you knowing we were coming out and your room mate not knowing how to reach you we became quite concerned. Please try if you will to understand our decision. Weather you realize this, had our driver drove off we have absolutely no means of collecting from you had you choose not to pay. Our number one goal is to maintain an "A" rating not only with Angie's List but with everyone and in everything we do. It's a hard choice to make, risk the chance of a bad rating or not receiving payments. As you can see we have very hard choices to make. Would you consider re rating us ? Please understand and mostly except our sincere apology. Richard Katz"

I called Elsie yesterday (January 13, 2015) at Moon Septic to ask the usual questions (for me) to get initial information on the care and maintenance of my House's septic system.  As I mentioned above, I bought my Home last October and it is "City Water and Septic" a situation that exists in most Homes in my area.  For a number of reasons I never really got to meet the Old Owners to ask THEM direct questions about the House to include the septic system.  Because I had been on "City Water and Sewer" for so long, thinking of a Septic System was not something I did with any frequency but, after moving into the new Home, the situation became one of concern to me since I had heard of all the horror stories concerning backed up toilets!  As such, I went on Angie's list here and began looking....you are listed as a fantastic company and it turns out to be true!  I called planning to make an appointment for sometime in the near future when Elsie asked me.....Are you home today?....when I said yes, She immediately said that She could send someone THAT DAY but that is would take about an hour for Him to empty the truck first.  She sounded so apologetic that with a smile on my face I felt like consoling the poor Lady (SMILE)!  Lynn arrived practically on schedule and like I mentioned above was FANTASTICALLY helpful in his advice and knowledge giving me information on what to look out for, how to make sure my Septic System remains healthy and very importantly here.....reassured me that MY system was in great shape!  ANYONE can with some training (though I don't know the details of such training) can go to a Home like Lynn did and pump a Septic Tank BUT, Moon Septic and Lynn in particular take such service even farther by providing WORLD CLASS Customer Service and a proven expertise!  Lynn answered EVERY one of my questions to my complete satisfaction and ADDED information that I had missed because I had said, I'm not familiar with Septic Systems......THANK YOU Moon Septic!......THANK YOU Lynn!  I believe in loyalty and the Companies and People I am finding on Angie's List to help me care for my new Home are people I hope to have with me for YEARS to come...I will be recommending Moon Septic to EVERYONE I know!

The work was done very professionally. Moon arrived in the evening just before dark. They explained the procedures and cost before starting the work. The tank was so full it was necessary to inject water to liquefy the contents before it could be pumped. After pumping, they checked my sewer line and found it to be partially blocked so they flushed the line to remove the blockage. Most of this work was done in the dark, but they did a fine job.  After completing the word, they replaced both the soil and the turf they had removed to expose the tank. The workers were Professional, friendly and considerate.  I have no complaint of any kind.

After the diagnostic visit, Rich sent out two of his workers who pumped the septic tank which it badly needed. They then dug up the damaged pipe connecting the tank and distribution box which also had some damage where it connected to the damaged pipe. After all of the damage was uncovered they quoted me a price for the additional work which was slightly more than originally estimated. That was only fair however since the broken area turned out to be more extensive than originally thought including some damage to the distribution box which had to be repaired. I stayed with them, watching and asking questions and making suggestions through the entire process and they did a very good and thorough job of completing the repair. At several points they paused and asked if I was satisfied with their work so far and I always was. Which was a very nice thing to do. It was a good job of repairing an old septic system. Our system is working perfectly and I am completely satisfied with the results. I would certainly use Moon Septic again for any septic problems or repairs. I would definitely want Rich to diagnose the problem and recommend the correction. His depth of knowledge would make a good outcome more likely.
