Sendtko & Shaw Inc

Sendtko & Shaw 's two owners came out to my home two weeks before Christmas 2010.  They gave me an estimate to prep and install high end marble in my family room.  One week prior to Christmas they started the job with all going well over the first 3-4 days.  A couple days before Christmas, they were applying the grout between the marble tiles and decided to start sealing the marble at the same time.  They said they wanted to hurry up and not have to return after the holiday.  As they finished, I noticed the normally, highly polished marble had a bad haze or fog over it.  They worked an additional hour trying to remove it but it remained foggy.  Mr. Peter Sendtko then became very rude and told Ms. Sara Shaw to "take pictures of everything in case they decide to sue us".   She said she would return after the holiday with a handheld buffer that would remove the haze.  The next day I called DuPont, the manufacturer of the sealer they recommended and used, and I was told that EVERY marble installer knows you don't apply sealer to highly polished marble and EVERYONE knows you have to wait several days after applying the grout before you seal anything.  The sealer bottle says , in bold type, you must wait 72 hours after grouting prior to sealing.  I called Sendtko & Shaw that day and Ms. Shaw came out and spent a couple hours with a hand held buffer trying to remove the haze off my previously mirror like marble with no luck.  She said she wanted to buy some marble polish and would return the week after Christmas.  During this week I spoke with several Tile and Marble installers who said they made a huge mistake, and after this kind of negligence I should never have let them touch my marble again.  I got an estimate from a local marble restorer of $500 to try and fix their mistake.  They too agreed that any professional marble installer knows not to seal the marble anytime near the grout process.  I told Ms Shaw and she still wanted to try and fix it herself.  She told me Mr. Sendtko admitted that they had made a mistake with the sealer.  She still came out and tried different powders and products, but could not remove the fog.  I then had the marble restorers come out and after 12 hours of labor they made the marble about 90% better, but said there will always be some haze on the marble.  Over the phone I spoke with Ms. Shaw and she agreed to refund half of the repair cost.  Then the following day called me and said she could only pay me $75.  I never received any money or any further contact from this company.  Obviously, due to their lack of marble installation knowledge, and poor professionalism and ethics I would highly not recommend this company to anyone.
