In the year 2000, I hired Keys Roofing to reroof my home. In January of 2017, it was brought to my attention that the permit had not been closed. I called Keys Roofing and was told that they would check their records and get back........ Ultimately, I was told by the owner that the company closed the permit and it was my problem. I asked for their assistance, even offered to pay their expenses, but was left out to dry. "Not our problem, we closed it", though they clearly did not. Even though all of this, their office secretary was delightful. Lots of time, an inspection, an understanding structural engineer and nearly $500 later the Monroe County Building Department was able to close the permit. Eric at the building department was very helpful.
