"The $75 toilet tune up was never the plan. The customer had an entire remodel project for his condominium. A previously hired plumber walked off the job due to issues with the customer. We negotiated a price, then he wanted an additional discount after that. The plumbing work was completed by us. There was a small drywall patch he needed to address due to a repair we made on a line inside the wall. Each customer has their own way of rating service. Based upon the price, our ability to work with the wrong materials purchased, promptness and scheduling at his convenience (he had to leave town on business), B+ or an A is more appropriate."
"I don't recall ever receiving any contact from this client. Unless he called after hours , I always personally respond to any calls."
They are the absolute worse.
In short, we had them come out because we had no hot water. They misdiagnosed the problem as a popped breaker and were in and out in $5 minutes and charged us $75. When we called back because we again had no hot water, his response was ?I am too busy today, I am too backed up? and he didn?t even offer to fit us in is schedule.
We called another plumber and within 2 minutes the competent plumber removed the bottom panel and it was evident that the water heater was leaking onto the electrical components which was causing a short and causing the breaker to pop. Had we waited we could have had a very expensive flood or a dangerous fire.
So not only did they not do a good job but they also put us at risk.
The worst part is that I had used them before to install a sink and while they were pricy I recommended them to my next door neighbor who also had some work done. Never again!
I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism. If you cannot do a good job and stand by your work, you should not be in business.
Long version:
They misdiagnosed the problem as a popped breaker. I informed him that before it stopped working we had issues where one day the water was too cold and another the water was too hot and then it stopped working. We asked him if he could check to see if something was wrong with the unit which was causing the breaker to pop. He said it could be the thermostat but seemed to be in a rush and simply said well if you still have a problem I will come back and won?t charge you the $75 service call.
He was in and out in $5 Minutes and charged us $75. He then asked us to make the check payable to him personally (not the company), which we found odd, and gave us his cell phone number should we have any issues.
Well the water heater stopped working again. We called the guy back and he was short and said check the breaker, which we had already checked. After several calls he agreed to come out b/w 12-2pm the next day.
That night I removed the panel and hit the reset button and the unit started to work again. I called him left a voicemail and said it is working for now, let?s cancel for tomorrow (since neither my gf nor I could afford to take off from work) but to call me because there is clearly a problem. He never called. The next morning again we had no hot water.
We checked the breaker and the reset button and nothing was working.
I called him again at 9:15am and left another voicemail. I never got a call back.
Frustrated I called the office of FAM Plumbing and the person who answered the phone said ?I am too busy today, I am too backed up? without offering to schedule me in at any time. I guess they didn?t want to do any work to really earn the $75 service call.
We called another plumber that afternoon and they came within a couple of hours. Within 2 minutes the competent plumber removed the bottom panel and it was evident that the water heater was leaking onto the electrical components which was causing a short and causing the breaker to pop. Had we waited we could have had a substantially more expensive flood or a dangerous fire.
"I can't argue with most of this. Unfortunately, I was faced with help issues and sent a "backup" tech to diagnose the first problem. I was advised that the water heater was working when he left. As a matter of fact, we replaced the upper thermostat and the heater was working for approximately a week after we left. It's not unusual for a leak to occur after a service is performed, so there is no way to know that it was leaking while we were there. There was no evidence of that or we would have checked further. When the customer called, I was in the middle of several issues and he hung up before I could ask if he could wait for a day. I am truely sorry for his displeasure and would happily refund his $75 if he requests it. We have never received such a scathing review and it is never acceptable."
"Someone that used to work for my company must have done this job using my company name. While working for me, he would regularly give out his personal phone number. I do not work alone. I schedule all of my appointments with the customer. I would never charge $125 to replace a water heater."
"After relocating the control device, everything was working. I don't recall being contacted for additional information or I certainly would have responded."
"The facts as stated by the customer are not entirely accurate. They left a message after hours over the weekend. I responded via their message on Angies List that I would return their call as soon as possible. It was not evening when I contacted them, but in fact, it was the following morning when I was prepared to address their problem. The advised me that they had already had the problem repaired."
"If the repair was not completed, we would not have charged the customer for the service. This is the first time I'm hearing of this issue."
"While I appreciate the overall grade of A. What was not mentioned is that the original service was performed over a year ago and we stood behind our service and did not charge the customer for the return service call."
