Took machine to shop in Jupiter (address is wrong on Angie's list). Dropped machine off with 2TB external drive for material that was to be recovered. Shop called a few days later and said work was almost done, but they could not find the drive. We told them that the proprietor took the drive at the same time she took the MAC. They could not find it. There seemed to be an insinuation that we must have not dropped it off and there was never an offer of reassurance, never an offer to give us another external drive and even no offer to sell us one. Finally we got a call they found the external drive and the work could be completed. A few days later a call came to tell us it was ready to pick up. It took us a few days to pick it up because of distance (70 miles round trip) and family/work logistics. My wife called to say we would be coming to get it, and the owner said she normally closes at 5pm, but today, or Fridays she leaves at 445. Stuck in traffic with an ETA of 5:01, we called to let them know we were on the way. The owner reiterated that she was supposed to leave at 445, but they would wait. Upon arrival, she intended to give us the MAC without us being able to verify what data was actually recovered. In her defense, this was a miscommunication between her and the employee who did the work; owner thought we had an opportunity to confirm what was recovered. When we told here we needed to see what was recovered, she had a fit. Through the discussion, she started to close the door and told us she was going to remove the data that was recovered and give us the MAC back. After a few minutes of her telling us she has never had a customer who was so ungrateful for recovering their data, she calmed down. She told us to come back on Monday when we had more time, and she would make sure we were satisfied. Went back the following Monday and when my wife was satisfied as to what had been recovered, we left with the MAC. When we got home, the MAC would not boot up. Crashed like a Windows machine with no blue screen. Coincidence, probably not. When we called to let them know the machine was not working, the response, of course was, "it worked when it was here." The suggestion was to take it to the Apple store. Needless to say this was a nightmarish and expensive mistake. Would recommend staying away from this shop, they are disorganized. BTW, when I pointed to the hours on the shop door that stated closing time is 6PM, the owner said that does not apply to her shop. There must be more than one business operating there. The address is 500 N. Old Dixie Hwy, Jupiter, FL 33458, not Military Trail.
