1. Delivery Date - We informed the owner Eric DeVries of the required NJ delivery date and was told it would not be a problem. On June 24 I called to confirm the agreed June 25-26 date and was first told by the office all was on track then later told there would be a delay. I had to reschedule many service and contractor appointments as a result of the June 27 delivery date. Note I was the one who had to follow up - no one proactively gave me updates.
2. Many boxes delivered to the incorrect room. The movers either did not read the box or ignored our instructions. This caused us to spend much time later moving them again to the correct room.
3. Crates Unopened - Although we paid $100 for the uncrating service, no crates were opened. We have to find power tools to open ourselves later. (Mirrors, glasses, etc.)
4. Furniture Assembly poor or nonexistent - we had to monitor the crew as furniture pieces would be simply stacked and not reattached (i.e.-China Cabinet, TVs, workbench). We ended up assembling the TVs and workbench ourselves.
5. Furniture/pottery/lamps damaged - We recently filed a claim for $851.12 but this is very conservative as we fixed/repaired many bent, twisted pieces of furniture ourselves.
6. Beds - critical pieces (slats, slat supports) were missing so the beds were assembled "as is" and we were told to file a claim. Our son's bed collapsed in front of the crew - we were told to file a claim. When we went to bed the master bed collapsed and we spent the night on the floor.
7. Driver Attitude - the driver was irritated all day and the tension amongst the crew was high. Frankly we were glad to see them leave so that we could begin to make things right.
When I called Eric to complain I was told we might be eligible for compensation for the late delivery and to file a claim. Got their customer service survey before the claims form. Never heard back from anyone on the delivery compensation.
I hired DeVries based on their good Angie's List reviews but obviously cannot recommend them at all.

With that being said, I need to point out the real issues were not with our local company DeVries Moving & Storage, but they are really with Wheaton Van Lines and the driver they assigned to your job. Unfortunately, I do not have any control over whom they assign on long distance drivers or the crew they hired to help unload. As soon as you called and described your issues, I called wheaton to send you a claim form. On that claim form I mentioned to list all of your complaints including your late delivery, uncrating issues and whatever other issues you may have had. You mentioned you just recently sent in your claim form as it is many months after the move. Once they receive the claim form I am sure you will have resolution to your issues. DeVries Moving & Storage movers arrived on time and the move went without a hitch. The workers were very professional, worked fast and there was no damage or completed the move without any damage or other issues. I would definitely use them again on my next move.
