Had dealt with Thompson Electric several times before for small jobs and always found them to be professional and very customer focused, so when I decided to do something more they were the ones I called. They provided what I felt was a fair estimate and I agreed to it without inquiring about any warranty information. While installing the LED lights, the electrician casually mentioned there was a warranty on the LED bulbs for 1 year, which would have never occurred to me. Before the electrician left he told me one of the front porch light covers was "loose" and showed me how it moved back and forth when he pushed it. My only concern at that point was whether or not water could get in and he assured me it couldn't. About 3 weeks later I noticed the cover was hanging by one side and looked like it was about to fall off. I called them and explained the situation to their receptionist. She spoke to someone and told me this was not covered under the warranty and it would be $95 for a service call to check on this. I reminded her of what the electrician had told me about the cover being "loose" and that it was less than a month after the service had been performed. She said she would have to refer my request to the owner and he would get back in touch with me. After not hearing from anyone for a couple of days I called back and told her I assumed there had been no change in their position, but I would like a copy of what was covered by the warranty, thinking about the LED light warranty mentioned during installation, and that they could send it via email. My impression was that it would be sent. As of today, I have not received a copy of the warranty and the other side of that porch light cover has also come loose. The cover is currently taped to the porch ceiling to keep it in place. The LED lights and one of the porch lights are working as expected and I have made arrangements to fix the problem with the porch light cover. I doubt having a piece of paper detailing a warranty is worth anything at this point.

I like that they were very quick. They were able to resolve the issue quickly. However, there was an issue that was unresolved. When I went to turn on the power, a local circuit breaker needed to be turned on manually. I was not going to do it so I missed my appointment. I still have to get that fixed before the electricity can be turned on.

Professional to the tee. Friendly, courteous. From Jerry doing the estimate, to John and Mikey doing the work. Impressive!

The guy who came out for the estimate was great, but the crew sent for repairs was awful and made me very uncomfortable in my own home I'm a disabled vet with PTSD and I have my own issues, but you do not come into my home claiming you have full access to my privacy. They almost drilled a hole through a beam of a flat roof. They installed my kiln on an existing breaker, which is not allowed - kilns are required to have their own breakers. They didn't tell me what they were doing as they went so I was barely able to keep up with what they were doing to avoid problems.

I liked their services but I think they were overpriced. They charged us a lot, considering the amount of time it took. They were very professional and responsive and I had no problem there; their work was good. I would say they should be more reasonable with their pricing.

It didn't. Their estimate was double another competent company referred by Angie's List and they charged for a visitation fee for the estimate. It was disclosed to me ahead of time and I agreed to it but shouldn't have.

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], We always quote any services before they are rendered. We NEVER guarantee to be the cheapest ( an never will )...Only customer satisfaction. But it costs to get a professional to look at YOUR problem or issue. Thanks for the opportunity."

Service was fair. I had to initiate contact after a week after paying for the service via Angie's List. Once contact was made they were initially reluctant to provide me a date and time due to may location in Yulee. I spoke with Fred the service manager and finally arranged a date and time to conduct an initial inspection of my electrical panel to ensure my panel was compatible and within code. During the initial inspection, I was informed that I needed a sub panel and not the a new panel which I had already purchased. They told me however they would install the sub panel and the price quoted via Angie's list at no additional cost.
I went ahead with the service and two days later they installed a sub panel and some additional work to my sprinkler pump outside the agreement via Angie's list. The installation and professionalism of the installer was fair. They didn't do a great job cleaning up and the drywall patching was average. They didn't do a great job labeling my electrical panel ( I had to remind the technician). I would NOT recommend for service in Nassau Co.

"We are getting with our mangers concerning cleanup...This will be corrected. We schedule and service all areas of North Florida very successfully. What Mr [Member Name Removed] doesn't say is he works in Jacksonville, an needs a two hour window for service. Several times he could not make it to his own scheduled appointment. Yes this does add logistical problems."

From the day we purchased our home, the home inspector told us we would need a new electrical panel.he said that because the type of panel we had was often recalled and had too many twin circuits. That was four years ago, so i was happy to take advantage of this Angie's List deal. The employee came out on time, was very professional , stayed late to ensure the work was done right. I asked the employee about the surge protector portion of the deal ,he knew nothing about it. Update: The City inspector was here today to inspect the new panel and surge protector. He turned to me and said "Thompson Electric does a great job".

The technician was nice, had been here before. I'm not sure if he actually checked all the outlets that I asked, because it wasn't notated on the invoice he emailed me. He completed the other 3 tasks I asked him to perform and I am satisfied with them. The problem I encountered was with their office staff. I asked them to contact me via cell # in order for me to leave work and meet them at the house. The competence level required for such a request eludes the ladies at Thompson. I got home and there were 4 messages on my home phone and they said they didn't have my cell, could they send someone tomorrow. NO.....so I guess they found someone because he showed up about 30 minutes later. I just don't need the stress, I have enough of that already. They seemed to be higher priced than I remember also.

They did not give an estimate over the phone and came out to look at what needed to be done and provide an estimate. The estimate seemed on the high end compared to other electricians that we have dealt with in the past. We felt pressured to get the work done because they were going to charge us a fairly significant service fee just for them providing an estimate in person, if we did not have the work done right then and there.
We hesitantly agreed to the service and they went ahead installed the junction box and the new switch onto an area that had an existing outlet with a switch. This switch controlled a ceiling fan on our porch. Now we are no longer able to turn the fan off, even though we were able to before they came out. When I went to install the new light onto the junction box they installed, the wire was still "hot" even though I had the switch turned into the "off" position. I received a significant electrical shock due to this.
I called them to speak to them about this and just wanted them to come out to investigate and verify their work without us incurring any additional charges , since a fan that we could switch off before is no longer able to be turned off. I figured they would have no problem coming out and verifying their work without a charge. They however were very condescending and they started saying that we asked them to make the switch "hot" all of the time. We never asked them to make the switch "hot" all of the time. The whole point of getting a switch installed was so that we could turn it on and off. Why would anyone get a switch installed that cannot be turned off - what is the point of having a switch that doesn't work?
The man we spoke to, just kept saying how they have been in business for 20 years and how they know what they are doing. I don't doubt that they do, but mistakes happen. The fact that they are not even willing to consider that they made a mistake and come out free of charge to validate that is ridiculous.

"Mr [Member Name Removed] said the work is over priced.. I cant see how , he was quoted before we started . We have a commencement signature. There wasn't any pressure. If you notice Mr. [Member Name Removed] is referring to hot, black wires ? The reason is, he insisted on installing his own ceiling fan. Obviously he was unsuccessful because he wanted our company to come out an correct his work. He was told we warranty our work free of charge. But if it was something he did , by policy there would be a charge. He refused again. This is clearly a customer impossible to please."

Scheduled to have an electrician come out to fix 3 non working outlets. I allotted 3 hours to do the job. Electrician showed up 2 hours late! I had to call after a half hour when no one showed up to find out where they were. I should have been called to let me know they were running behind and given an approximate time. When I finally did get a call that he was on his way, it was another hour before he showed up.
Response from Thompson Electric Inc
"As in all our calls they are scheduled on a first call first for service basis. ALL customers are told we will call about 30mins to 1 hr before arrival. And Ms. [Member Name Removed] was called. Its our policy."
