Well, Sherry asked me to write a review because at Taylor’s, they treat you like family. Would your family treat you this way? I’ll let you be the judge of that. My family hired Taylor’s AC to do a complete overhaul on our AC system. On the day they came out to install the new unit and remove/replace the old duct work, my husband received a frantic call from the installer several hours later. He explained to my husband that the ducts he was tearing out of our attic (for hours mind you), had asbestos around them. So…. Instead of STOPPING when he first saw the asbestos, he continued ripping out the ducts while the asbestos was spreading everywhere in our attic. We were kicked out of our house that afternoon worrying that the asbestos got into our home. Sherry called us and instead of apologizing for the installer’s carelessness, she asked for our credit card for the deposit of the AC equipment. It has been months and we have only been able to speak with Sherry and Tammy twice, they blamed the asbestos on the home inspector and basically refused to take any sort of accountability for any of the damage (apparently her installer didn’t know it was asbestos… seems odd for a HVAC guy). Fortunately, the asbestos wasn’t in the house, but we were still left with a 13k abatement bill and still no returned communication or accountability from Taylor. When asked for their insurance information, it took them almost a month to get back to us and only with the name of their insurer. It was not shocking to us to see that they carried no liability insurance at all. We notified them of this and have yet to receive a response back. I have never dealt with such a cold and uncompassionate company who not only takes no responsibility for their mistakes, but also couldn’t careless if their installer’s negligence made a family homeless for weeks. Let our story be a cautionary tale to you….PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

The technicians delivered the air handler into the house, bumping it into a couple of things along the way. They also bumped into the molding surrounding door, breaking the condensate tray which collects water that is carried to the outside via a PVC line. The price was probably in the neighborhood of $4,200 which was good for a 3 and a half ton unit. The cost, of course, would also include having a new outside condenser unit, and dropping an R22 line and adding a circuit breaker to the outside. Excluding a sloppy installation, the cost was very reasonable. Subsequently, the unit required servicing on several occasions. I had one bad technician who believed the air handler wasn?t level with the floor, therefore causing a water backup. He misdiagnosed the problem, and I was able to show that the PVC line closest to the air handler was clogged. After which, he proceeded to remove the clog. I went with the Rheem air conditioning system and I later discovered that the way the evaporator fins were arranged made it very difficult to clean. I had a little bit of mold build-up from time to time. I also discovered that the unit required special sized filters that had to be ordered online, as they were unavailable in local stores. Other service calls had positive outcomes, and overall I was satisfied.

My air went out on Sunday, June 30th.  At about 8:30 Monday morning I placed a call to Taylor's and explained to them that my children were at home and I was at work.  It was understood that my teens are old enough to let the repairman in and that I would pay by phone once the work was completed.  I was told that a repairman was on his way to my area and that he would arrive to my home between 9:30 and 10:00 am.  At 12:45 the repairman had not arrived.  When I called Taylor's, I was told that the technician was finishing the paper work at another home and would arrive at my house within 30 minutes.  He arrived to my home at 1:12 and proceeded to sit in his truck while he ate and talked on the phone.  I know this because I was on the phone while my son stood in our opened garage and watched, in clear view of the technician.  When the technician continued to ignore my son, I asked him to approach the truck and tell him that I wanted to speak to him.  This was alittle before  1:30.   When I asked him what was going on, he said, "I was waiting for the rain to die down.  I don't want to get wet.  I kindly reminded him that my family had been the VERY hot house since the night before.  At that time he got out of his truck.  The story ends with the technician fixing the problem, a bad motor, to the tune or S278.  This was for labor only, since the parts were still under warranty.  He still charged me $84.00 for coming out, in addition to the labor for fixing the problem.  I don't know why the cost for the visit wasn't included in the price of the labor, especially since he was so late in starting the job.

Response from TAYLOR'S HEATING & AIR
"When we originally did the install on 12-8-10 the client did not want a new condensate pump so the existing one was reinstalled. The pump and the new install worked fine until April of this year. When my service man went out to check out the noise he bought a PSA for $149.00 which we performed on that day. Also as a part of that PSA and included in the $149, we are scheduled to go back to his house again in October and preform the PSA again. So the $149 was not for 3 cups of bleach. Also the existing condensate pump that he did not want replaced in 2010 finally quit in April so we replaced it with a new one for a cost of $217.38. The first visit was on 12-06-10 to diagnose his existing system, It had a faulty txv valve. We then quoted him $3800 and waived the diagnostic fee when he decided to purchase the new unit."

"There was a diagnostic fee plus the work was an emergency call performed on a Saturday. The contactor and the capacitor were replaced. Also the freon levels were adjusted."

I called about 11:30 Sat AM. By 2:30, Robert had come out, fixed the problem, and the unit was cooling. He pinpointed the problem, put in the new part, and was on his way in less than an hour. And this was on a 97 degree day! Another contractor might have been a little less expensive but what mattered was the time element on a hot day.

Excellent. Called them for a second opinion as I was advised by another company to replace my 2001 A/C unit. They called and checked to see if my unit was still under warranty for me which tt wasn't. Came and checked my unit and advised me to just have the evaporator coil replaced rather than replacing whole system or replacing air handler ($2000).

I called Taylor's at 11 A.M on a Thursday to set up a service call. I was put on the list for service that day. At about 6 P.M the serviceman arrived and started to diagnose the problem. He determined that the fan motor on the condenser was not working and needed to be replaced. He had a replacement motor in his truck stock and replaced the motor. That solved the problem and the AC is working fine now. The whole process, from the techs arrival until the job was complete took only 30-45 minutes. I was very pleased with my experience with Taylor's.
