Smarter Remodeling

It all started with a free estimate on the phone where I was given some price ranges for my projects. Once I decided they were within my budget, I paid a design consultation so I could get exact pricing on my project as well as drawings and 3D renderings. It took about a month or so of consults and redesigning but finally we reached an agreement on the scope of work and the price. We signed the contract and about one week later the entire team arrived to my house: Architect, designer, project manager, salesperson and even the owner. We discussed the entire project, made notes to the scope of work and the process got started. It took about 5 months to get my entire project finished (one month under the promised deadline) and we couldn't be happier with the results. Everybody from Fabian to the cleaning ladies and everybody in between was great to work with. We were kept informed at all times and they went out of their way to make us happy. Special kudos to Agata, the designer, as she helped design our dream kitchen and bathrooms and held our hand throughout the entire process. Our total renovation cost was $296,000 and the project was completed right under budget. Thanks Smarter Remodeling team for a great experience!

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS: We hired Fabian Videla and his company Smarter Remodeling to remodel our house. We paid Fabian Videla $190,000 in total renovation costs. Smarter Remodeling installed our front door system backwards and now it has failed. We paid Fabian Videla $18,315.00 for this front door system. He came out to our house twice to view the incorrectly installed door. We also had the door manufacturer's rep come inspect the door. The rep said the door was incorrectly installed and gave us a quote to fix it. We gave this quote to Fabian Videla and asked him to call the rep if he had any questions. Fabian Videla said that he would fix the issue but he never did. We have been trying to get resolution for one year. Fabian Videla will not return our calls and is totally non-responsive. He does not stand behind his work. We have filed a complaint against Smarter Remodeling with the Florida Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau. We will now proceed to file suit and try to recover our lost money in court.

A nightmare. Started 8/1/2014, should have been less than 90 days per contract.
WELL, WELL over...
Company uses subs, other than plumbers, and electricians.
Cabinets didn't fit after install, counter didn't match side to side of randge (NEW appliances were in the garage prior to remodel start) ...
They FIX'd.. but should NOT have to...should have been right the first time.
Some things really good, but the bad was Terrible!
And yes, we paid draws on time.

He brings in the electrician, the plumber and such kind of stuff.  He has been very prompt and thus far he has done what he said he is going to do.  He keeps me informed of his plans.  He has been willing to comply with anything that we want so far.  Overall I cannot say anything negative about him.  His price is reasonable.  I would not call him cheap.  Through out of our conversations and with all our conversations he has been very responsive.
