Friday, November 6th was the install date. I called our rep the day before to ask when the installer would contact us to confirm things for Friday and I was told "don't worry he'll call at the end of his work day, but if he doesn't just expect him at 9:30 AM on Friday" - OK.. So I took Friday off to wait on our tile guy who never called Thursday evening. 9:30 came and went, we called and were told he was stuck on another job that apparently ran over.. Really?!.. So after another heated discussion, they promised my wife they were "pulling him off the big job to be at our house by 12 PM".. Great, so now we were way behind for the day.. He finally arrived at 12:30 PM.. Took a look at our fireplace and then began the debate on what he could/could not do. We needed him to blend in the new stone with the old so it did not look like he just filled in a square.. The sales rep knew all of this, but the installer said there was no way he could do it and even if he could he did not have enough stone!! We asked if he could re-use some of the stone that he pulled off of our wall to blend in and after phone calls to his sales rep and back and forths he agreed to try our suggested approach and it worked! So, day one he managed to frame out the area and install the stone for the fireplace. He had to come back on Saturday to do our backsplash which meant my wife had to miss our daughter's soccer game.. Anyway, the installer showed up as agreed Saturday but then informed us that he could NOT install the tile on diagonals because our sales rep ordered tile that was too big!! Seriously?! We gave the sales rep a picture from the internet on the design we wanted! How more specific can you possibly be than say - replicate this picture in OUR kitchen! My wife decided to go ahead with the tile that was brought to us anyway because we did not want to drag this process out any further at this point. Overall the installation was very nice, the work looks good, we just wish we got exactly what we wanted instead of having to settle slightly..
So, to sum it up.. The sales process is not the most convenient and you don't get much design assistance. Expect to follow up frequently with your sales person to get things across the finish line. The scheduling issue we experienced was very inconvenient because like most people, we work for a living and have to juggle schedules when we have people come do work at our house during the week and for someone to show up over 3 hours late is maddening. Ordering the wrong tile or not telling us that the install we wanted could not be done with the tile available was just carelessness in our opinion.
We were happy with the quality of work, its just many other things prevented it from being as positive an experience as it could have been.
While at the showroom, we met owner, Frank Milea. Frank, thank you for having a wonderful staff. Special THANKS to your brother John and his crew for a job WELL DONE.
We would recommend and use again
