Popcorn Ceiling Removal Jacks

In March of 2019 we hired this company after soliciting multiple contractors to bid our popcorn ceiling removal and knockdown texture application job. We finally decided to hire Popcorn Ceiling Removal Jax for the job and these are the results. I was told by the owner "you won't know we were here except your popcorn ceilings will be gone". This statement couldn't be further from the truth. The pictures you will see at popcornceilingremovaljax.info will tell the whole story. I've gone back and forth whether or not to post these images but I feel this cannot go unadvertised as the company has not made it right by us and until they do I will let these pictures tell the story. The first issue I noticed was that they were "dry scraping" the ceiling. I was told they would use a light mist of water like every other company does (one company does use a thinned down drywall mud mixture). When I asked why, they told me this was less mess. They then would sand it. I inquired about the dust that would incur and they assured me there would be nothing left behind. I have performed drywall work in the past and know that when you sand drywall compound the dust gets EVERYWHERE. When the plastic sheeting was removed this was exactly the case. Every item in our house including the walls was covered with fine drywall dust. Unfortunately, that was not the worst of it. There was plaster everywhere. From door knobs, to furniture, to TVs, computers, and worst, on our clothes in the closets. They supposedly covered everything but we are still to this day finding plaster on items. Items like horse saddles, where you just can't clean it off. When we complained to the company they sent in a cleaning crew of three ladies who spent 11 hours cleaning our house. That's 33 man-hours, and it still wasn't clean. We ended up having to have the carpets steam-cleaned and what did not come out we had to cut out with a razor blade. We still have clothes being cleaned for the third time at a different dry-cleaner. Then there were the items they broke or damaged including a shelf in our pantry, a dent in our refrigerator, an outlet cover, and places on the laminate floor where they scraped up plaster and pulled up the laminate veneer. They also pulled veneer off two of our fan's blades when they pulled their tape off. There are pictures of all this on the site popcornceilingremovaljax.info for you to peruse. There were also places where the knockdown was done very poorly and other places where they didn't even scrape all the popcorn and only applied some plaster over the popcorn and then painted over it. I have tried to seek restitution from the owner and once all was added up, ruined clothing, bedding, fixtures, electronics, and not even counting some of the items, it came to over $1,200. He has offered me $600 in repair/replacement costs. They did come back and scrape off a lot of the plaster spatter but we have no remedy for the dented fridge, paint in the carpet, busted corner bead and to beat all, after over two months since they left there is still one of their ladders here in my yard and their scaffold. It was killing the grass so I finally moved it to the side out of my way. We are still finding areas of the ceiling that were never prepped properly and fully scraped and other areas where the plaster was never applied properly. All can be seen at the popcornceilingremovaljax.info website. Update June 17, 2019: The owner of the company paid me another $100 today and notified me this is the last of the restitution he owes me. This amounts to a total of $600 he has paid which is not even half of the damages we were. I am not going public with my review for others to see.
