They were contracted to refinish my pool. Unfortunately, I had to travel during the labor portion of the work and my wife was left to deal with them.  They did not always listen or respect my wife's wishes. It began when they were asked to drain the pool to the back of the yard and they drained it to the front. We received a complaint from a neighbor and again asked them to move the drain to the back. Instead of complying, they tried to argue that it was legal to drain it to the front. My wife had to say to them that she did not want to argue, she was paying for the service and wanted it drained to the back. After that there were numerous problems with craftsmanship.  The grout around the tile was sloppy, the light were poorly installed and did not seat flush with the sides of the pool. The edge tiles were poorly cut and badly installed it took several complaints to them to get them to semi re-tile and it is still sloppy. When they were acid washing the finish they got acid on the hand rail and turned it a brass color. They denied it had changed color. Then they tried to clean it but it is still discolored. Before we began the service we had the pool leak checked. Pinch-a Penny assured us they would take care of the leak even though we were willing to get the other company to fix the leak. After they were done, we had to pay for them to fix a new leak that somehow developed.
This was a huge hassle and although it began well, we felt that we had to watch them and everything they did to make sure they were following through. Communicating with them was also very hard. They were always defensive and never just told us they would look into something or take care of it. Most of the time they would, come by and look at the issue, but not always take care of the problem.
Overall this was a terrible experience. The sloppiness costs too much to fix but it is not worth trying to sue them. we are left with a poorly crafted job and a lot of disappointment.

We replaced our old pool pump with a new Intellipro variable-speed pump. We replaced the cartridge filter with the newer Hayward Swimclear cartridge filter. We replaced our older Polaris with a newer model and had a booster pump installed to increase/improve pressure to the Polaris.
Our biggest concern was with the existing layout of the piping for the pump system. It was not a standard layout and was downright confusing to anyone who saw it.
Tyler at Pinch-A-Penny Mandarin reviewed our old system, made recommendations and assured us that he would be able to redo the piping and improve it. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. On the day of the job, he showed up on time and spent the majority of the day on the project. When he was finished, my wife and I were amazed at how the entire system looked so much cleaner and more organized, especially the piping.
The new system is working beautifully! The variable-speed pump is silent when running at low speed. With the booster pump, the polaris only has to run 4 hours a day and completely cleans the pool. Because the system is more efficient, we'll definitely see savings in our electric bill.
I definitely recommend Pinch-A-Penny in Mandarin. Ask for Tyler. He went above and beyond for us and did an outstanding job.

This was thw 2 time this happened in the last 2 years. They knew I would have the pump repaired and yet did not act, Always want to get extra money to "bring pool back up" after they failed to act. AVOID THIS COMPANY!

Went to the store and talked with them regarding checking all of the components of a swimming pool at a home we just purchased. We asked them to come out, inspect the entire system, insure that all components were working properly, replace any broken and/or worn parts and then service the pool on a weekly basis for $110 per month. All of the employees in the store were helpful and knowledgable. The service tech that inspected the pool system arrived on time and explained how the system worked and pointed out all of the items which needed to be replaced or adjusted. Initial impressions were positive and we will be monitoring their service in the hopes that our first impressions were correct.

Pinch a penny gave us a good price - $100 discount, and came out 2 days after we called to install. Very professional, on time, new pump works great. We also take our pool samples to them, they analyze for free, chemicals and other parts are relatively cheap.

The person from Pinch a Penny is very reliable. He appears to know what he is doing. He is very good, punctual and courteous. I once had a person come over who got an instruction manual. I could have done the same thing.
