Roy Vance Prestwood Sr. of Party Spa's was recommended by Pinch-A-Penny's in Orange Park FL and the Mandarin FL locations to fix our Dreamaker Spa for a hard to open drain valve in spa.
After inspecting the spa, Mr. Prestwood did not have parts to fix the drain and left to buy parts at Lowes. He was gone over an hour and a half and said Lowes did not have the part. He charged $25.00 for $5.97 3/4-in Compression Brass Boiler Drain Valve & flexible PVC tubing ($2.95). (Later I found our local Lowes did have this Drain Valve in stock)
During the repair work Mr. Roy Vance Prestwood engaged me to talk with him about various matters. All the while, his 'assistant'  Danny changed the valve for our spa, picking at the spa insulation with various tools and cutting, drilling into the bottom of  the spa, and heating tubing and clamping tubing under the supervision of Mr. Prestwood. While this was going on, Mr. Prestwood repeatedly interjected: " I hate working on Dreamaker Spas. Dreamaker Spas are hard to work with!
Time was spent on this small project was an exhausing 3 hours since I was engaged in continuous conversation with Mr. Prestwood, which most was unrelated to our spa!
After the work was completed and Mr. Preston and Danny left, we later discovered a small leak under the spa after filling. Our spa did not leak prior service and was dry prior the repair process of lifting of the spa, the picking and removing of insulation, the cutting of water lines, drilling holes and placing clamps for replacing the drain.
We called Mr. Prestwood the next AM to inform of leaking problem and was assured by Mr. Roy Prestwood he would visit to fix the leaking problem. He told us not to drain our spa and he would come by mid-afternoon. We called Mr. Preston again around 3PM and he asked us for our phone number and would get back with us. Hours later, I called Pinch-A -Penny owner (Tyler) on Blanding Blvd (Who recommended Mr. Prestwood's business, Party Spa's) to complain concerning lack of follow up. Almost immediately we got a call from Party Spa's owner (Mr. Prestwood) that he would visit to fix the problem. Pinch-A Penny owner (Tyler) called soon after to confirm he called Mr. Prestwood and I assured him Mr. Prestwood called us for addressing the leaking. (I do appreciate his follow up.)
Mr. Prestwood and Danny finally arrived around 4:40 PM. After 2 hours or so, assessing the leak, he said the leak was not his fault though the leak appears just inches where his helper, Danny was working. Mr. Prestwood told my husband he would fix the leak free (audaciously, without further charges!) if I provided him free services as a legal nurse to assist him with a problem he was
having! I was not present when this conversation transpired, and in fact avoided Mr. Prestwood on his second visit, so he would not be so distracted from the purpose of his re-visit to fix the leak caused by the new drain installation.
I later called Mr. Prestwood and pointed out we did not have a spa leak prior his first visit and furthermore we had already paid him for his services that were not performed correctly, most likely due to his or his helper's negligence (Danny) that caused a
leak during the installation of the water drain valve. Mr. Prestwood said he would refund our money or pay someone else to repair our spa, but was evasive and vague concerning his offer of restitution. He denied damaging our spa with his shoddy repair work and stated that the leak was not his fault. He then disconnected our conversation.
I called Pinch-A-Penny and left a message that their recommendation for Party Spa's has resulted in damage to the spa and Mr. Prestwood is not trustworthy or professional.
I would not recommend this person, nor would I recommend the Pinch-A-Pennys in Orange Park or Mandarin who
recommend this so called repair service, named Party Spa's. I have since researched this person and found he is not a certified repair person and I suspect his business, Party Spa's most likely is not a legitimate business since he does not have a fictitious name according to sunbiz.org.  He is in fact, a funeral home director by profession!
I am out of my money and have bigger problems than where I started.
Lesson Learned: Today I joined Angie's List so hopefully this will not happen in the future!
