Paragon Painting & Pressure Washing Inc
About us
I was originally trained in Bath, England and was fortunate on completion of my journeymans apprenticeship to gain a position with the Late" Lady Walston " at Walston House a large Manor in Bath, Avon. Having remained in her employ for a number of years I gained a position with Lord Hamer of Alford. Lord Hamer was a property developer and typically bought historical properties renovating them from the ground up to final completion. As a private contractor here in Jacksonville I have been fortunate to win and complete contracts on larger private hospitals and nursing facilities. Presently I am gaining a foothold in the residential market and have a tendency to produce a higher quality finish for our customers for a reduced investment figure. Our goal is and always has been a luxurious high quality finish exemplified by my references and the projects I have completed. I thank you ahead of time for offering me and my company the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to speaking with you, with a view to fulfilling your contractual needs.

I needed a house painted and I had a time deadline. I turned to Angie's List. I called 3 painters before calling Tim Pearson of
Paragon Painting. Here is how it went down:
. The first co, I call but the co couldn't meet my deadline. I appreciated their honesty.
. The next two companies I called promised to come out and
take a look and give me an estimate. I left gate open and they were to leave a note or text me back. No show the first time.
I called back and they had not come but promised to come that day and give estimate. Again, No show, no note or text.
(Later I found out that the 3rd co had come out but did not leave a note or give a text as promised.)
Note to painters: If you come out to look at a job, at least leave your card so the customer will know that you did not stand them up.
. 4th call to Tim Pearson/Paragon Painting and Pressure Washing
I called Tim and left a message. He called e back shortly after. He promised to come out that evening and give me an estimate.. Tim came and I hired him and he started the job the next day. He did an excellent job.
. He is a perfectionist so you don't have to worry about the quality of his workmanship.
. Tim uses the highest quality paint. I want a paint job that will last!
. He put everything in writing and included the paint brand, type, and color name, which I requested for my records.
. He focused like a laser on the job and completed the job quickly.
. He gave me some free expert advice which I appreciate.
You can't go wrong with Tim because it all boils down to character.
My house is absolutely BEAUTIFUL now!
Thanks Tim! & Thanks Angie!
Most painters will pressure wash the house, maybe do some scraping, use so-so quality materials, spend a few days, maybe a week, on the job and then they are gone. Not Tim. He worked on my house for three weeks, at least five days a week, showed up at a decent time and stayed until late afternoon. And he worked! He spent days, weeks probably, on preparation. He pressure washed, he replaced rotted wood, he scraped flaking paint, he caulked, he taped, he sprayed a bonding material on the house....so many steps of prep, I probably can't name it all. And he uses extremely high quality paint and materials. He shows you the products he uses and explains the benefits of using these.
Even more than the quality of work, I appreciated his expertise and his patience. He will gladly give you advice and his opinion on your project but he let you make your own decision. There were several suggestions he made that I am so glad I took. For example, we have some painted brick on the front of our house between the two front windows. It has always been painted the same color as our shutters. He suggested painting them the house body color for a less dated look and it turned out fantastic! Also, we have an addition on the back of our house that, for whatever reason, we have always painted a different color than the rest of the house. He suggested painting it the same color so that it gave a more cohesive appearance and did not make it stand out as an addition. Seems so logical but it never occurred to us! Another suggestion he made was painting the chimney in the back of the house the trim color to make it stand out as an architectural detail....something I would not have considered, but it looks so good! Finally, something as simple as the rain gutter downspouts....he suggested painting them the color of whatever they are up against so that they do not stand out. For example, the ones against the back porch are painted bronze to match the screened in porch, the ones against the metalwork are painted to match that, and the ones attached to the body of the house are painted the body color. He leaves every decisions up to you, but you would do well to listen to his suggestions and explanations.....the man knows what he is talking about! Even my neighbor across the street came over to get Tim's advice on colors and such for his own house!
In reference to his patience, no matter how many questions I had or indecision, he never lost patience with me. He made himself available to go with me to Home Depot to pick out knob sets for the doors. He was available if I needed to call him to discuss different color options. He was never annoyed when I would leave him post-its with little requests or suggestions. And believe me when I say I have control issues but he was very understanding.....he gets that it's your house and you want everything done correctly. And his concern for a job well done does not end when he leaves. I called him two days after he completely the job to mention that he forgot to rehang my flag pole bracket on the house and he is coming back to take care of that for me.
Lastly, let me say this - you will never regret the money you spend to hire Tim but you may regret the less superior job you would get without him.
The house looks incredible and he was able to completely remove the mold from driveway.
I am very please with the service Mr. Pearson provided.
Our deck repair was much more involved than anticipated. I am so glad that we used Paragon Painting and Pressure Washing. We initially thought the cost was rather high but after researching (even Lowe's), we found that other contractors charge about the same and most have lots of hidden costs (dumpster, clean-up, etc.). Paragon gave us no surprises. We were informed with every step and the estimate was exactly what we paid.
Tim Pearson is extremely knowledgeable, professional and talented. He is an artist and takes much pride in his work. He answered all questions, helped us with ideas and is a pleasure to work with. We didn't realize our old deck was ready to collapse and now we have a beautiful addition to our home! That's a WOW!
Tim was actually the highest bidder. His review of what my home needed and the detail to what he would do to fix it and make it last in beautiful shape for years to come was head and shoulders above the other bidders on the project.
Tim was there when he said he would be and did what he stated he would do.
He also had some excellent suggestions on some "Finishing Touches" that made the house stand out with out being gaudy.
I've had Positive comments from my neighbors not only on the final product but Tim's professionalism while working on the house when I was away.
As expected the clean up after every day on the job was excellent.
Tim responded to all my suggestions and comments in a professional and pleasant manner. I was pretty h****** him and teased him a lot but it never ruffled his flight feathers. We had an issue from the original Paint Manufacturer and Tim kept me informed of all the problems and solutions. In fact he is the most honest contractor I've ever dealt with.
There are no doubts that I picked the right contractor and will use him again in the future.
I have a few of the "Finishing Touches" mentioned above to install before adding photos to this review. It will be updated when all is complete.
Thanks again Tim for such a fantastic job. Maybe now you that the project is over you can spend some quality time with your daughter.

Looking for a painter is a daunting task. We started with Angie's list which helped us narrow the field, but there were still lots of choices. While price was important, quality and knowledge were the driving factors for us. We had three different painters give us estimates. Tim was friendly and knowledgable giving us a clear picture of the entire process. His proposal was a good value and included high quality products and techniques. For example, he used multiple coats of elastomeric paint. As we researched it further, this paint seemed to be the best approach for stucco and has a long lasting, durable finish.
The process started with pressure washing our home to prepare it for painting. Then, he painted our soffits, next the accent color and finally the body coat. Tim explained that doing things in this order would really help the colors "pop". He was right! The lines between the color transitions were crisp and gave the house extra dimension. Tim also took the front door down, sanded it, and then painted. Sanding the door was another one of those extra touches that added to the quality of the job. Throughout the process Tim was focused on doing a top-notch job and making us happy customers. I would definitely recommend Tim to anyone.
We've also discovered that Tim has other talents. Since painting is dependent on weather, Tim has openings for other kinds of projects. He has trimmed our Washingtonian Palms and removed a couple of trees. Tim approached these projects with the same care that he approached our painting project.
The job we hired Paragon for was to put new surface deck boards on existing decking. After the old boards were removed we found some water damage that needed to be repaired as I suspected. Tim designed solutions that I am confident will last a very long time. We have an existing spiral staircase on the old deck that needed to have the support structure rebuilt and Tim came up with a very creative way to accomplish it while working in a very tight situation. He implemented a few good ideas for managing water flow in the future to avoid having the kind of damage that we had to the deck structure.
I consider the final product a work of art. Tim made sure the decks were finished out just right and added little touches that I would never of thought of. For instance, he noticed we had a pile of leftover slate from a tile project and suggested we utilize the slate tiles as the surface of the bottom step instead of plain concrete. It turned out great! I discussed my failed attempts at lighting the old deck with Tim and we found some solutions that are really just top notch. The new stairs are much more than just a box, Tim came up with a crossed-board pattern idea for construction that left slats open along the front of the step, yet still they are very sturdy. The new low voltage lighting is installed inside the steps and the illumination at night is really elegant now. We carried the same step design throughout the rest of the decking to the front porch and it really makes the entryway to the house beautiful. I consider the work Time did a great added value to our home.
I would not hesitate a bit to recommend Paragon Painting and Pressure Washing for any kind of deck project. I plan to have him back again to do some more work as soon as we can work it out.
Sincerely,
Arthur and Biyama Cox
All construction exceeded the standard codes that are required for a free-floating deck. The piers he constructed are 4x6 pressure treated lumber inside of 12" forms filled with 12-24" of 5000lb concrete. (Other contractors that we considered were going to use 4x4's and put them on pavers with concrete poured in a hole dug with post hole diggers. Nowhere near the strength Tim designed.) All beams were 16" on center. Tim recommended upgrading from standard 5/4" decking to 1 1/2" deck boards which outlast the thinner decking. He showed me samples side by side and the difference is great. The cost difference was minimal compared to the upgrade in strength and durability. Especially good idea since our deck is so close to the ground. He added many custom cuts to give it the special touch that really makes a difference. We also added to the structural integrity buy adding 4 additional supports where our offset umbrella will go. The base contains 300lbs of sand to keep it standing and he wanted to be 100% sure there would be no sagging or shifting.
All the time Tim was working on the deck, I was working on "under deck" projects. I had to run electrical conduit and 4" drainage pipe to connect two gutter down spouts and divert the water away from the deck out to the woods. He was always willing to offer ideas when I was scratching my head trying to figure the best options for MY PROJECTS. He also was very flexible in that he would work on portions of the deck that would not interfere with what I was trying to do. He did a exceptional job of custom cutting around my plumbing of the deck drains. Really has a professional look to it.
We also asked for a couple steps leading from the deck down to the back yard. We were originally thinking it would be a wooden set of stairs. He ended up making the steps out of concrete that forms to the contour of the pool which really gives it a nice look.
A couple other notes. Several other companies that we called never showed up or it took them days to come out and look over the job. Then it took several more days for them to call us back with any type of quote, if they called back at all. Not the case with Tim. I called around 4PM for a price quote and he was there the next morning at 0930 as agreed. We discussed all of my design requirements and then he took measurements and some photos. He said that he would have a design worked up and a quote for me by the next day at the latest. That same evening there was a written quote in my inbox. He was the ONLY prospective contractor that was punctual and got a written quote to me when promised.
When he was working, my daughter was chomping at the bit waiting for it to get finished so she could get back to swimming. He was very courteous with her on the occasions when she would come out into the screened enclosure and ask him questions. He never seemed put out that a six year old would be taking up any of his time. He was always there when he said he would be and worked in the extreme heat of a Florida summer.
I would love to include some photos of the finished job, but I don't see any way to add them to this review. As stated before, Tim is the best contractor that I have ever had the pleasure of hiring and I would hire him again or recommend his services to anyone without hesitation.
