Painting Plus Trim

Note: This is an extremely truncated version as the full write up exceeds 5 pages printed. From day one there was lack of organization, improper communication and business etiquette in general. All workers, including the owner Lamar, were late by 2-4 hours everyday (with the exception of 1 day). Each day there was some equipment, product, etc. they did not have and either borrowed from us or Lamar drove a Home Depot in another city to get it (there is one less than 4 miles from job site). Paint for 1st home was not even purchased until day three (we were promised all materials would be at job site day one.) Beginning day 5, we suggested, many times, to have workers split between both homes (the body and most trim was completed) as the owner of the 2nd home had to return to work and the dog could not remain in the home all day. On day six, we finally advised Lamar to stop working on 1st home and at least start the 2nd and get paint on the back area that was fenced in. Lamar got extremely irate, but did go start. We later found out (at this point we already gave him $2325) he had to go pawn equipment so he could buy enough paint for the back of the house (which turned out to be INTERIOR paint). The frustrations continued to mount as the tardiness, leaving the job site, and extremely slow work continued. On day 9, I was informed by Lamar they were leaving for lunch (having only worked 2 hours); they never returned. I received a call later that evening by one of his subcontractors advising they made a decision to not come back for a couple of days. At this point I explained they abandoned the job and requested they not return. In addition to both homes not being 100% complete; there were additional damages done: 1. broken window latch 2. water leakage into interior (due to pressure washing) causing paint to bubble and entire wall to be scraped and repainted, 3. gouging of wood due to pressure washing 4. and the worst of all -- they left the gate open to the 2nd home which allowed one of the family dogs to get out and be fatally hit.
