Terribly incompetent company. I am not sure why Channel 4 would support such an unprofessional organization. Says all one needs to know about Channel 4 as well. McGowan's will charge for a service call with no intent of follow up. Anyone intentionally and continually patronizing this organization is meshugana.

D simply because service tech was good. Waiting for a part that was prepaid. Customer Service worst Ive ever experienced. Answering service can only take a message. 3 messages left no return call over a week. Had I read the online reviews I would never have signed with them. READ the REVIEWS

We bought a new home in March 2017. McGowans installed the upstairs and downstairs units on Feb. 20, 2017. In October, the upper unit failed completely. We called McGowans. They evaluated the problem and told the unit need a new coil but that warranty was expires. We paid them $1068 to replace the coil on October 10, 2019. Yesterday, the unit failed again. We again called McGown and were told that the coil had damaged “Some valves” when it went bad and those valves needed to be replaced. We were also told that while the parts were still under warranty, the labor was not so we would need to pay an addition $1200 to replace the valves. Considering that they should have identified the damaged valves when the coil was replaced, I suggested that they should reduce the labor charge because now I was having to pay twice for the same work. The technician called his supervisor to see if they were willing to reduce the labor. The supervision refused and said we had to deal with the manufacturer to get any relief on the labor. I then asked the technician if he could give us a written description of what needed to be replaced. At first he said no problem. However, he came back in the house a few minutes later and told us his supervisor told him not the give us a write up of the problem, that we didn’t need it. A company who refuses to stand behind their work and then refused to be transparent with their customers is not a company that will ever get my business again.

Fail. Lost air conditioning after a lightening strike, as well as many neighbors. McGowan installed all our HVAC’s in new neighborhood. We had a prepaid, preventive maintenance contract, hoping for 1st in line service, NOT. Called Tuesday evening, left message, with after hours service, two hours later received call, rep talked us out of service call that nite, but would have office call 1st thing in AM, Weds.. Never occurred. We began calling around noon, Weds., several times, no answer, left message(s). Thursday AM, received call, at this point we had contacted other service provider. Tues thru Thurs without AC in Florida is not good. We are senior citizens, this borders on criminal, if we had been invalid in anyway the results could have been bad.

Excellent! Can't say enough good things about this company. We had a policy with American Home Shield and when the a/c quit in the middle of a very hot July 2017, they were called. There were multiple problems with the contractor that AHS sent that spread out over several weeks and the temperature inside the home was higher than outside! But, that's another review. Finally, after multiple problems that the AHS provided contractor seemed to cause and not know how to fix, I called McGowan. They came out the very next day, diagnosed the problem quickly , had the required part on the truck and fixed the problem within 2 hours while the other AHS contractor literally spent several weeks. Their service call and repair were reasonably priced and nowhere near the amount of money the other contractor said it would cost. We will look at getting a yearly maintenance contract with them.

We feel we got the best installers around. They showed up on time, were professional and knew exactly what they were doing. After they were finished, which wasn’t not about 2 1/2 hours, they went through with us setting up the new NEST thermostat for both zones. They left our home clean of any debris. Our system works perfectly. They did an awesome job and highly recommend them. The price is well worth the services that we’re guaranteed and their long track record gives us piece of mind.

Over all very impressed with this company as they always showed up when we expected them and ultimately installed unit on a Saturday so I didn't have to miss work. Cleaned up job site after installation and always wore shoe protection as to not mess up our carpet. There was a few kinks with a wiring hook-up but the Service Manager came out to assist and ultimately saved the day. I sign in to the JEA website to track my electricity use and it has came down from 79 KW a day to now in the high 40's. AC was pricy but when your laying in bed sweating who care so being cool and comfortable is definitely worth it. I would highly recommend calling this company if you need a new system.

The first time seemed to go ok, last year. The tech was young, but seemed competent. He said he found "mold" on the intake (condensor coil) of our upstairs air handler and it would be $800 to pull and clean it. I confirmed a new unit as about $1500 so my assessment was not to put $800 into a nearly ten year old unit. Just replace it if it dies. He did his best to clean it, however and moved the UV light to try and prevent future problems. The second round was a different story. I was not home so what I know is based upon my wife, documentation, and follow up with Tom Regula. In short, the tech allegedly checked the units and found one or more of them to show evidence of "leaks". (I believe the subcooling was listed as very low on both, with identical numbers). The recommendation was to do a leak check and I believe that was $300 or so each (dual zone) and if coil replacement needed, up to about $3k (inner and outer coils noted on both). He said he added a pound of refrigerant to each, I believe. Of the same mindset (builder grade, less efficient, about 10 years old) I asked for a replacement quote. I believe the quote was about $13k for ONE unit. I ended up calling Air McCall for a 2nd opinion. (Note: they will do this for free if you have a written diagnosis from another vendor. I only had this on one unit so I paid about $50 for the 2nd unit to be checked.) Long and the short, the tech from AirMcCall found both units operating normally and while subcooling was a little low on one it was fine on the other. He also said that he found the Schraeder caps on the refrigerant intakes off (set aside), the brass top cap on that intake finger loose. (Was this potential light sabotage to cause or assist "leaks" or simply an oversight/error? I cannot say for sure). In looking at the estimate it is also painfully clear that it made no sense. The upper unit is a 1.5 ton heat pump and the lower is a 3.5 ton A/C (matched to a gas furnace). The McGowan's estimate was for a 4 ton (Carrier Infinity apparently only comes in full ton options) heat pump. The problem is that no one said you can use one big unit for both zones and the lower is an A/C. With these highly disparate opinions and an estimate that made no sense I contacted Tom Regula at McGowans. (It was not easy to locate his email but if you keep digging you can find it). I explained the concerns in detail. To his credit, he responded promptly but not in much detail. He did say that they have complex/expensive testing units that they hook up and this simply spits out data which they use as a large part of their diagnosis. (One person's professional opinion, but this sounds like an entity trying to make up for inexperienced staff with better technology, which is a dubious solution in many cases). Because I had at least a reasonable suspicion that the McGowan's tech may have intentionally left caps off/loose to bolster a "leak" claim (so as to cause a need for otherwise unnecessary service) and because of the very suspect replacement estimate, I asked the FL Department of Professional and Business Regulation (DPBR) to do an investigation. They ended up coming back with a letter after a few weeks saying it was out of their jurisdiction, encouraging me to get a lawyer and sue. I followed up with Mr. Regula and told him I had no intention of litigation and suggested that if they wanted to resolve the concerns and win back my loyalty they likely would wish to send out a senior tech and re-verify the opinions and estimate(s). I gave Mr. Regula and McGowan's several weeks to respond and heard nothing. Accordingly, it would seem they have no interest in a continued business relationship. For the record, I am a realist and understand that builder grade units are less efficient and in this climate, A/C and heat pump units run hard. Ten to fifteen years is about the max of what you can expect with most units. I am budgeted to replace them if I need to. But given that trust is such a fragile thing, and HVAC such a substantial investment, I will never again be able to trust or use McGowan's Heating and Air for the reasons noted.

McGowan made good their sale promises by solving an unanticipated problem with our H&AC two zone system. After multiple home service visits & additional parts, problem was fixed at no additional cost. Can't beat that for service & integrity.

Everyone in this company who spoke to us or did the actual installation was professional, knowledgeable and communicative. The installers arrived promptly, went over what they were going to do for us before they started the job, and then they did it. They are craftsmen who really take pride in their work. It just doesn't get any better than that.
