We could not be more disappointed in Billy at Legget Heating and Air. He talks a ton and listens none. Insisted that the simple approach we asked for, which would have made better use of space, wouldn't do the job and pushed a convoluted and huge footprint of a plan. Told us if we were to put the air-handler upstairs as we wanted, he'd have to run the copper and drain lines out the 2nd-floor wall. When I told him that's not how our 2 story house has it, he aw-shucked his response with a, I guess you could do it that way if you wanted. When we told him we were not happy with his plan he made up a story about how important having a ton of access to the air-handler was for us if service was needed. Not true one bit - he mentioned that himself only in passing but it was never a concern of the space we were considering. Wish I'd fired him before we got down the path. Paid him to go away b/c we have air (upstairs only) and he wanted to charge 50%+ of install to make things better. We tried to discuss coming to a reasonable solution and price with him, but Billy said he often finds a price that people can live with when they're unhappy with his work, which sounds like it's part of his business plan to change order instead of delivering on what he said he'd do. Yelled at us that we were asking for free work/stuff (not true!) and hung up. Stay away (in my opinion).

Dale left no stone unturned and told me exactly what was wrong and how much it would cost. Very professional, prompt, and courteous. A little expensive but I will gladly pay that to someone who knows what they are doing.

It went fantastic! They showed up within an hour of me calling on a Saturday. He came out did some troubleshooting, found the problem fixed it and he was done in less than 45 mins! This is the first time I've used them and it definitely won't be the last. They care about their customers and do a phenomenal job to top it off. After he was done with the work and had left, Katie called just to check on me and see how things were going. She wanted to make sure that I was happy with the service and that everything was functioning as it should. It's a level of customer service you just don't get it with the big chain companies.

I had used Leggett’s services many times over the years but now I have found someone else. The technician was punctual but that was about all.  He said he didn’t see anything wrong with the AC unit, instead he recommended I call an electrician.   We did have a hurricane that may have overcharged the AC unit.  So I called an electrician who came out and said he didn’t see anything electrically wrong with the AC unit.

This was a second home for us until three months ago, when we moved in. We did not start using these units constantly until July 2016. Leggett replaced both units in one day working up til 11pm in the dark. They were in a rush. With in a year we had a flood in one of the units inside the return duct work under the unit. We realized that when they installed this unit that they did not clean the condensate line properly which cause the blockage. They used an undersized compressor. My husband who is a general contractor and a plumber, licensed, used a much larger compressor which cleaned out the lines but we had a real mess on our hands since we were not there when it happened. The second issue was a year and a half later when the circuit board blew when we changed from heat to air conditioning. The board was under warranty but they charged $500 to change it and did not find the issue, blaming it on lightning which was not possible because the board was hardly damaged. Then last week, we turned off the air conditioning and put on the heat. The same thing happened. I certainly wasn't going to call Leggett again so I brought in another contractor. These people diagnosed the problem immediately as a low voltage line problem which was shorting and burned out the two boards. Again the board was under warranty and this contractors price was a third less and they found the problem, which Leggett did not bother to do. I would never use Leggett again, ever.

The work was done on time and the people were courteous.  However, the quality of the new unit is poor.  It is very loud, and doesn't cool as well as the old unit.  The duct work is cheap, they used the plastic/ mylar flex duct.  Overall I am not impressed especially at the price I paid.  Obviously they used a very low price (for them) unit, and did everything as fast and cheaply as possible. I will never use them again.

This is my first review on Angie's List and unfortunately it's a bad one. I've been a customer of Leggett for about 15 years and have given them at least $12,000 in business during that time. I will never use them again however because of $139 "check up" service call that in my opinion caused an unnecessary and expensive after hours repair bill. 
After repeated calls by Leggett to have a yearly "check up" on our Trane Heat Pump, a technician came out to inspect the unit which had been working fine with no issues. He arrived, "checked" the air handler upstairs and then "checked" the outside unit. We were leaving town so I paid him $139 by check and left. When my wife and I returned two days later there was no heat in the house so obviously there was a problem. I called Leggett and another technician came to find out what was going on. The first problem he found was a loose wire in the air handler that was preventing the electrical heat from coming on. Secondly, he found a bad dryer in the outside unit that needed to be replaced because all the freon had leaked out. I saw the dryer. It was rusted and leaking oil and obviously was bad. He fixed both problems for $909.  
My issue with this company is why didn't the first technician do what he was supposed to do? Why did he leave a loose wire on my air handler and not fix a part that he obviously knew was bad? Why no phone call to me?

In short, I paid $139 for Leggett to screw up my AC so someone else could come back and charge me a fortune to clean up the mess he made.
I asked Leggett to refund my $139. They refused to do so. Now Leggett has lost two things. My business and their reputation.

Set up several appointments and they always had an excuse for not keeping them.  One of the reasons was legitimate (recent)  and the other three were because they were short on staff or were not going to be in the area on the date originally scheduled.  Also, I sent a letter to the company explaining the reasons for my cancellation and the response was less than professional.  The only item they addressed was the legitimate reason that someone's heat had gone out and they needed to service that person on an emergency basis.  I understand that as I could be in similar circumstances.  However, if it only involved one person on that day, it is difficult to understand or it may be "short on staff."  Customer service telephone representatives were always cordial but I would not use this provider again.

Leggett Heating is fair, punctual and professional.  They came out to my home when my air conditioning wasn't working, and we were have major issues with another company, to give me a quote and to assess the problems.  They showed up on time and were professional and courteous while they were here.  When the issues with the air conditioning system were larger than at first thought the owner came out himself and assessed the situation and gave us a quote. At no time did I feel "nickel and dimed" to death.  I was't charged additional service calls for anything and when the work required extra hours of service due to the location of our equipment we weren't charged anything additional.   The entire system  was thoroughly explained to me andI felt very informed at every step of the process.   The quoted cost was fair and of market value .   Most importantly I was treated as a valued customer and I haven't had to call them since.  Everything works perfectly.

Quick, professional service.  I have used Leggett in the past for service and new unit installation.  They are very reliable and I would strongly recommend them.

Leggett has always been here for me, and usually fairly quickly. They are helpful in explaining things. I am very happy with their work, and they always get it done right the first time. The workers are clean, never tracking in dirt. It is a good company.
