Finding the right tile and design was the easiest part. The company who manufactured the tile had a "up to $500" off coupon. Was then told by K&FDC that the coupon did not apply to my purchase. The tile took a few weeks to arrive and install. The installer did a very nice job of laying out the pattern and grouting. K&FDC had to come back because the threshold was removed during installation and not re-installed. All in all, we are now very satisfied with the job.

I hired this company to install my kitchen cabinets and install backsplash tile.  They are COMPLETELY INEPT.  I've been waiting nearly one month for them to finish my cabinets and it is still not done.  Now they can't find the parts (crown molding) to finish.  They are very undependable; I'm told installers will be here to finish and no one shows up.  I've heard every excuse in the book.  The tile installer never showed up either so now I've fired them for that job and will hire someone myself.

This is beyond frustrating!!!  I have never seen a company so poorly run.  Now I'm hearing 'everyone wants it done by Thanksgiving' but this project was started 8 WEEKS AGO AND IS STILL NOT DONE.  My kitchen is only 12' X 20' and 8 weeks to complete.  Save yourself the misery and do not use any of their labor services!!!  Their labor charges are cheap for a reason!!!  Don't be fooled by it!!!

"November 26, 2014 Ref: Poor Customer Review on November 24, 2014 As the owner of Kitchen and Flooring Design Center I take these negative comments very seriously. I personally interviewed our sales person, her manager, and our installation Mangers for their recollection of this job and customer. I also pulled our records from the job. This order consisted of kitchen cabinets with crown molding, hardware, and installation. The special order cabinets were ordered on September 20th. We received them on October 1, 2014. They also ordered a tile backsplash and 32 boxes of floor tile cash and carry ( they had their own tile installer). Our salesperson contacted them in early October for installation of the cabinets. The homeowner delayed installation due to her drywall contractor not being finished. The delay lasted approximately 4 weeks. They also removed a soffit in the area above where the cabinets were to be installed. The removal of the soffit exposed a drain pipe which hung below the ceiling. The homeowner then requested we build up the crown mold to cover the exposed area. We had to special order more material at that point to accommodate this request. The cabinets were finally scheduled by the homeowner and installed in early November. We were still waiting for materials to complete the add on to be delivered from the manufacture. At that point we discovered the crown molding for the job was missing. All records indicate it was delivered to the job and signed for. We believe the installer may have taken it with him when he couldn’t install it with the rest of the cabinets, it was misplaced. We are out at this job on November 26 to complete the add-on created by the pipe. We supplied an upgraded larger crown molding to replace the missing crown. To my knowledge the cash and carry floor tile was delivered without any problems. Lastly the homeowner called on Friday requesting we install the backsplash the following Monday. This is when we told her we would have to check our installation schedules as thanksgiving week is a hectic week. At that point she cancelled the installation of the backsplash. Our salesperson went to our warehouse and picked up and delivered the tile for the backsplash personally that day. In Summary; 1) The major cause for delay in the completion of this job was the delay in the drywall (done by Others) causing 4weeks of the delay 2) The discovery of the pipe hanging below the ceiling when they removed the soffit. This added another 2 weeks delay. 3) The cabinets were special order, and when they did not get installed as scheduled, because of the delays. The crown molding had more of an opportunity to come up missing. We are taking full responsibility for replacing the missing crown with a larger upgraded crown. 4) We have been waiting to collect the balance on this job for final completion. This is in spite of the fact that the remaining work being completed today was an add-on to the original order."

Floor looks great but they left so many voids in the glue that is sounds like a floating floor in many places. Over 1000 sqft and really poor install.

"[Member name removed], I am sorry to hear that you are having problems as this review is the first we heard there was an issue. Did you call our office to see about somebody coming out and taking a look? Seeing that this install is right at 1 year old there are a number of things that could be causing this problem. I also see that you only paid us for the material and NOT to install. Did you pay an installer directly? I am more than happy to come look at the issue but please realize The Kitchen and Flooring Design Center can only be responsible for labor on projects that we install and are paid for. If you would like me to come look at the issue please call my cell anytime. Richard Coleman 904-524-7563"

They quality was very poor.  We had to replace the floor 3 times after they installed it.  They did not cut the granite right and decided to try to refabricate it inside our house which was miserable and the granite was still not cut right.  They installed the plumbing wrong which then leaked twice onto our new floors and it ruined our floors becuase the floors were poor quality and the water warped them over night.  The workers even stole all of our groceries from our refridgerator and pantry about $100 worth. I would warn anyone from using them.

"[Removed Member's Name], I see that you say this work was completed in 2008 and your review was this year(2014). I also see you live in VA. We are based in Jacksonville, FL so I am not sure if you have the correct company as I do not show you in our system either. If you have a concern, please reach out to me. Richard cell 904-524-7563"

From initial consultation to completion everything was as promised.  Bill Laing, kitchen designer and job coordinator, was with us every step of the way.   The design was perfect for our needs and any changes were quickly made and renderings immediately sent.   Phone calls were promptly answered and and any issues taken care of. The contractors - from demo to final installation- were prompt, professional, did quality work and left a neat job site.  On time , on budget, and professionally done. Bill Laing delivered as promised-exceptional service, design, and a great kitchen.

We have done many remodels over the years on different properties and this was by FAR the best experience we've ever had.
From the moment we walked in to design center, Mr. Bill Laing helped us select and coordinate new cabinets, tile, granite counter tops, etc.   His follow up calls to keep us informed of the delivery status of some of the things we had to order( vanities, granite, etc.) kept us well informed.
ALL the sub-contractors were just outstanding!  From Nelson Plumbing to Empire Granite and the tile guys (Wilbur and Rafeal) were just incredible.  Kudos to to you all and especially to Mr. Laing for making this a pleasurable experience!
Next year - the kitchen!

The work went really well with just a few exceptions.  The end results are beautiful, but sometimes the workers were late, or were in too big a hurry and missed a few thing and had to come back.
Overall I am VERY happy with the new design and the kitchen.  The product is wonderful.  I would recommend them!
