Talked to company a few times, tries to schedule the job and never received a return call after several attempts. Messengedalso and no return. If they didn't want the job should have at least called and said so

As always, Todd did a great job.  He took his time and made sure the mantel was secure before he left.  I haven't had a job yet that Todd couldn't do.  He's busy so sometimes I have to wait but I'm always glad I did.

It went great. I've hired Todd many times over the years and he's the best at what he does. I've been a Realtor for 17 years so I can tell you that you will not find anyone more honest, hard working or fair.

The work seems to have done satisfactorily at the time, although the weather stripping needs to be replaced again. The price seemed to be higher than I would have expected for the work done. He did work at a good pace and was punctual.

It was a rough start at first due to some confusion with the project. In the end, everything turned out ok. I was pleased with the finished product.

Everything went well.  Todd provided me with an estimate which we reviewed on Thursday.  The work started on Tuesday.  My walls were taken down to the studs then sheetrocked.  Sounds simple enough but having an older home always brings surprises.  There was some extra work that had to be done in the attic and the a/c was moved and placed in a better location.  After that, the ceiling was painted, the sheetrock was installed, window was framed, blinds were hung and the floor was laid.  The floor matches the rest of the flooring in my house. They did a beautiful job.  I also had a ceiling repair needed in the kitchen.  They replaced the sheetrock that had been damaged, repainted the ceiing and retextured the area.  Another quality job....I use Jacksonville Repair and Remodeling for all my projects.  They do quality work for a competitive price.
A few months ago I had Todd replace my privacy fence in the back yard.  He also had to clear out the vines and branches that were taking over the old fence.  Todd removed the old fence and cut back the overhanging branches at the back of my property.  He then installed the new fence.  It is very sturdy and perfectly straight across the back yard.  I was very pleased with the work that was done.

Todd is what most would call your typical contractor.  I know he has some good reviews, and thats why I called him, but for me he was all talk.  He came over and gave me a really detailed explanation on all the things he was going to do, and took a lot of notes which made me feel like he was the man for the job.  The overall estimate took four hours, so I was impressed at how detailed he was. Thats pretty much where the wow factor ended.  After he left it took weeks to get the written estimate.  Phone call after phone call, I was assured that the estimate was sent, but it wasn't.  First I couldn't get a hold of him, then he was out of town, then his computer got a virus, and blah blah blah.   At this point I was getting worried that a guy who was suppose to be doing three of my bathrooms didn't know how to send an email.  I finally got the email in my inbox, and the estimate was slightly high, but not outrageous.  I was still willing to give him the job, but the start dates keep getting pushed back.  We started with Sept 28th, then Oct 4th, then Oct 8th.  I was already over a month deep working with Todd and nothing had been accomplished.  The icing on the cake was when he was suppose to come over on a Tuesday to look at some flooring to see if he could lay tile directly over the vinyl flooring, or if backer board was needed.  I was out of town, but set up a time for him to meet my girlfriend at the house between 5-6pm.  I told him to call her to confirm, or if he couldn't make it, we could meet on Sunday when I got back into town.  He never called my girlfriend, never showed to the house, nor did he follow up with a call or show on that Sunday.  Monday morning I got a message that he was at his sons birthday party and a lot of drama occurred, and excuse excuse excuse.  It just blows my mind that the economy is terrible right now, not a lot of people have cash burning a hole in their pocket for renovations, and here I am literally begging to give this guy 12 grand  to renovate my bathrooms, and he just can't get his business together.  Hope you have plenty of jobs lined up because your not getting this one!!!
Response from Jacksonville Home Repair & Remodeling

"I NEVER told [member name removed] that I would be able to make the follow up appointments. He made arrangements with his girl friend on his own and sent me an email indicating that she would be available. He set something up that I never agreed to nor did I EVER confirm the appointment in writing by email or verbally."

I contacted this business a couple of months ago and spoke with the owner. We talked about the job, which was a fairly substantial renovation and he sounded interested and then told me he was five minutes away from his office and he would call me right back. I never heard back from him. I then emailed him last week through the email he provided on this website. He has not responded. It is one thing to be busy, it is another to say you are available and interested then never follow through with a return contact. If he is this difficult when seeking a contract, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to deal with him during a renovation project.

never called to schedule estimate
Response from Jacksonville Home Repair & Remodeling

"Unfortunately, we are very busy. I explained that I may not be able to schedule an appointment to do an estimate due to our work load. I DID NOT lead this customer on and did not schedule an appointment because I could not fit it into my schedule. I thought that they would have appreciated my honesty by not setting up an appointment to do an estimate and then schedule work that we would not be able to get to, I was wrong. I apologize for not having the time to set up an appointment for an estimate and not having the time to take on any new work at this time."

The job took longer then expected, but Todd did an excellent job of removing all the debris as well as keeping the mess to a minimum.  He was punctual and  called me if he even thought he would be 10 minutes late.  He made sure he understood how I wanted the backsplash to be tiled.  He even met me at a tile place to ensure the tile would work with the granite we had chosen as well as the material the tile was made from.  He would also let you know what materials people were using in their kitchens and would comment on styles and colors in a helpful way.  He suggested several places to go shopping to for granite and tile.
Todd explained everything that needed to be thought thru when choosing the materials and to laingy out the tiles.  He definitely gave you a full explanation of all the things one needs to consider in your kitchen layout.  To some people the explanations may be too much, but they are necessary in knowing that what you choose and how you wish to have the design and / or style installed can affect the look, feel and quality of finished installation.  In some cases this was not obvious until you see the finished product.
