J C Penny Custom Decorating

We closed on our new home on 5-31-12. We made an appointment with the JCPenney Custom Decorating rep, and she showed up on time with a very wide selection of sample materials.  The portfolio included exactly what I was looking for, so we ordered 1/2 of the selections on that date.  Another appointment was made for 2 weeks later, and we finished the selections.  Two installation appointment dates were made, and all installations were complete within 6-8 weeks.  The installation process was wonderful as well. 
We enjoyed the services of J C Penney Custom Decorating for window treatments in a previous home.  The price, quality and service were exceptional...high end selections and attention to detail from the decorating consultant.  Very pleased!

I have a new condo with beautiful lake views from every room. I contacted Penney Custom Drapries at the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL, where I have always gotten excellent advice and had excellent results.  My fairly straightforward requirements were:  - Keep everything very casual.  - Do not obstruct the lake view when the drapes or blinds are open.  - Block out the daylight in the master bedroom.  - I ended up with formal window treatments in almost every room.  - There was way too much material used, and the result was that the view from the main slider in the livingroom has been reduced by almost two feet, depending on the viewing angle.  - The sunlight glows right through the master bedroom treatment so that it is impossible to sleep later than dawn. A day after the selection process, I wanted to add a valance to one window and contacted the Penney representative.  She said she was too busy to come back (I live about 5-6 miles from the store) and I would have to go to her.  Considering the size of the commission she no doubt received from such a big order, I considered that unreasonable.  Plus, I had to wait almost an hour for her at the store. All these problems seem to stem from the fact that Stephanie King is more sales oriented than design or service oriented.  The results for me were very expensive mistakes and a lot of disappointment. From a quality standpoint, two windows in one room have matching cornices, one of which is puckered along the bottom.  The installer tried to tell me that it is supposed to be that way!

I was considering new curtains and then saw a JC Penney ad for 60% off including a home consultation. That made the decision easy. An interior designer came to my home and recommended the style of curtains. They look really beautiful.
