As blocks checked above show they did a very good job, great to work with, good people, on time and cleaned up well. Even moved the removed sod over to an old graden area where grass was needed. Small area where water stands near edge, they are returning to grind a little off edge so water will drain well so we can install pavers. They quoted the installation of pavers but we can do that ourselves.

We received quotes from people who lay concrete block and then compack with dirt and gravel before laying the pavers. We were able to get all in concrete poured at a similar cost. This way we don't have to worry about some areas sinking later and having to replace pavers or reset. One of the other firms mentioned to us that all concrete construction was liquid gold so stay away from them but we found out otherwise. The paver quotes were all pretty close.

We were extremely pleased with the quality of work that Hunter Concrete performed when they replaced our driveway two years ago. We received a professional, written estimate and a walk through of the work to be done. Modifications were made along the way and performed without a hitch. So when it came time for us to do additional concrete work to our backyard, we of course, contacted Hunter Concrete. After an initial walk through of the site in approx. April 2012, we were told that we needed to have several trees removed, stumps ground and the existing wooden deck removed in order to facilitate a smoother concrete job. It took us a few months to get all of this work completed and we again contacted Hunter Concrete in approximately October 2012 and asked for another site review and written estimate for the work to be completed. We either received no response, broken appointments or excuses as to why he was unavailable to meet with us. This continued up until July 2013. We continued to give Hunter Concrete the benefit of a doubt because of our previous experience with the driveway and because of a promised repeat customer discount that would be offered to us. We finally got Hunter Concrete to come to the house for the site review in July 2013 and discussed what we wanted, even gave him a drawing that he had requested us to provide showing our design. He expressed concern over some wood chippings and mulch that was in the backyard from when the trees were taken out. We explained to him that the mulch was just surface and not very thick (visually inspected it) and that the chippings were not, in fact, chippings but dirt. He suggested we burn the chippings to get rid of them. (To humor him, we tried to burn the chippings but because it was DIRT, it would not burn!) It took approximately two weeks before we got a response from Hunter Concrete and that was only after we made inquiry again as to the status of our estimate. When we did receive the estimate, it was not in a written, professional estimate as expected, but rather incomplete sentences with amounts and a total. Including a $1200 charge to dig a hole to bury chippings and mulch that did not exist. We asked Hunter Concrete again to provide us with a written, professional estimate like the one we received when they did our driveway so we could take a closer look at the estimate. Several days passed and we received a response (but no written, professional estimate) telling us that because of the discount Hunter Concrete would be offering us he would not be able to get us on the schedule until November 2013, but if we wanted to pay full price he could schedule us within a couple of weeks! As for a written, professional estimate we were told to get estimates from a few other concrete companies then contact Hunter Concrete again and he would offer us a discount based on those written estimates.That was the last straw and our patience had finally come to an end. Needless to say, we did not contact Hunter Concrete again and instead looked on Angie's List for other concrete companies. We got our estimates and decided to go with someone else and NOT Hunter Concrete! Words cannot describe our disappointment in how we were treated by Hunter Concrete, especially after recommending the company to others, and even a glowing recommendation to a large Jacksonville commercial company where Hunter Concrete receives a termendous about of business. We would not recommend Hunter Concrete to anyone. We were treated in a VERY unprofessaionl manner and disrespected as if our money was not as good as that of others. The lack of professionalism, responsiveness and courtesy is inexcusable and will only bring continued frustration to any residential customer. We were able to get a contractor to do the work for 50% of the unofficial price quoted us by Hunter Concrete. [The contractor is finishing up the job as we speak - didn't have to wait until November 2013] - and I will post a review on Angie's List once it is completed.

They showed up bright and early and were finished by early afternoon. The patio was formed, poured and cleaned up with great attention to detail. I had recently had some concrete work done by another company and they left the forms, didn't clean up the residual splatter, and tracked new concrete on old concrete. The Hunter crew was professional and I would use them again.

The concrete was poured and finished as agreed. It looked very nice.
A week after Doug was finished, I was washing dirt off the deck and noticed two small areas that did not drain properly. One was in front of the door to the kitchen, and the other was beside the door to the sunroom. Notified Doug, and within a couple of days, he sent a man to build up the areas . We had a heavy rain a week later and identified two other small areas with the same problem. Again notified Doug, and a week passed with no repair. Called again, and he promised to send someone. Called a third time, telling him a cool deck would be installed the following week, but he never resolved the problem. The cool deck was installed and still holds puddles of water in several places.
