Granite Today

it went great

My husband and I purchased our home and decided to have granite counter tops installed. I used Angies List and contacted 2 providers to provide estimates of our project. Granite Today was the first to respond and met us at the house that day to do an estimate. The owner took us to look at granite slabs and we felt comfortable hiring him and were initially impressed with his knowledge of the project and respectful manner.
Fast forward to the day of installation: Three men came to do the project (LATE by the way) and one was asleep in the truck upon arrival and the other kept flicking their gross cigarettes in my yard. The complained amongst themselves when realizing they had to also do the removal of the existing counter tops- during which they scuffed and damaged out BRAND NEW floors and dinged our freshly painted walls. I was told the installation would take 2-3 hours and they ended up being there more than double that. When the counter tops were being put in it was discovered one of the pieces was cut totally wrong and they couldn't finish the job! The owner blamed the individuals who cut the counter top and assured me it never happens. He then said they would finish what the could on the counter top that did fit and return on Monday (this was a Saturday) to finish the job. That same day it was discovered that the original sink was not going to work for the new counter tops (The owner claimed he told us that our sink would not work with the new counter tops since it was not under mounted but all he did was tell us we could get a new sink and pay $300 for installation. We said no since our sink was perfect-we did not know it would not work with our counter tops). To his credit the owner did take me to Lowes and pay for a new sink to remedy the problem. I did appreciate that but it should not have even been an issue.
Then Monday arrives when he is supposed to return to finish the job and he's a NO SHOW!!!!!! I called him repeatedly during the day to confirm and he did not call me back and once it was past the time he was supposed to be there I called and left messages imploring him to call me back. He finally did and made up some excuse that his crew wasn't able to get the counter top from the shop YET HE DID NOT EVEN CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT! He said he would be at my house in the morning with the crew to finish the job. I was very irate and he knew that so he did show up on time the next day. The rest of the installation was sloppy and shoddy. The only positive thing was he brought a new guy and he was fabulous with making sure there were no gaps in putting the two pieces together. I noticed so many things that were wrong but I was so completely done with dealing with the owner that I approved the work and paid him ( a lesser amount because of all the problems) and quickly showed him the door. As I was putting my kitchen back together I noticed even more problems:
The counter top was too long for the cabinet frame so there is a gap underneath the counter top that you can't see from the outside,broke one of my under cabinet shelves, the "base board"  that goes under the bar to support the weight of the counter top had uneven globs of caulking that I still cannot sand down, destroyed the paint under those base boards, and cut really deep into the dry wall when cutting and installing the base boards. There are gaps where the counter top doesn't touch the cabinet tops (he filled those gaps with more globs of caulking), and did not finish edging some places so the edges are sharp. Its a couple months later and I am still finding mistakes. It makes me furious and I should by all means have him back out here to fix all these things but I am so irate that I don't ever want to let that man in my house again and he would probably just mess something else up anyway.
More than anything I would warn against the honesty and professionalism of this provider. Aside from the things mentioned he also dirtied up my freshly painted walls with dirt and blood when he cut his hand and I found even more knicks in my brand new floor from him and his crew.
Granite Today has mediocre prices so you'd be better of going to someone else. You certainly won't be missing out on workmanship. Don't be fooled by the owner's initial professionalism and respectful facade. And if you do hire this company DO NOT pay them until the work is completed to your satisfaction.
The only positive thing I can say is the counter tops themselves are beautiful...but Granite Today gets them from another company so its not even a compliment to them. I would not ever recommend this company to anyone I know.

He completed the work professional and I was very happy with it. 

I called Granite Today after my original contractor failed to show up several times for installation of granite countertops and tile backsplash.Mr William arrived at my home 1 hr after I called him to give me an estimate and a schedule date to do the work. He looked at the samples I provided and even gave me insight as to how it would look. Even tho it was evening he accompanied me to the tile store and patiently helped me sift through all the choices. He set a date for install and on that day his partner Kyle and employee David showed up on time. They were fantastic!  Work was done on time, they were very courteous, diligent and did a great job.
I am using them next on my bathroom and then a rental home I have.

Granite Today installed granite in my kitchen and bathroom.  They did a quality job at a reasonable cost.  I found most companies to be very costly so I was thrilled to find a company that charged a fair price which allowed me to make the upgrades in my home.   And the quality of work was the best I had seen. I would recommend this company to all in Northeast Florida.and
