In an effort to beat the proverbial rush of the Windows XP end-of-life support, I purchased a new HP/Windows 7. While installing most items such as the anti-virus and tool applications were not an issue, the pictures, saved emails, and data files were problematic. Additionally, our old Gateway was also using Office 2003 vice Office 2010 on the HP. I do have Carbonite, but wasn't comfortable about downloading that back-up into a newer platform (and I also didn't want to chance corrupting documents cross-platform). While a number of websites such as CNET described how to move the files, they weren't without issues. That being the case, I elected to go with Geeks on Call, based on other members' comments. The technician arrived on time and got right to work. He built the new directories and quickly moved the files to our HP. As to a secondary issue, that of work emails and checking my wife's time card, he wasn't successful. But he did identify the problem there: the Java script required by our respective employers are designed for the Windows XP platform, not the much newer 7 platform. (Do keep that point in mind if you go pc-shopping.)

Arrived on time. Extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. Definitely knows what he is doing. Our old computer was struck by lightning. He was able to retrieve the files from that hard drive and put them onto our new computer. He then backed up all the files onto our new portable hard drive and taught me how to do it in the future. Highly recommend this company.

It was a 50 minute service. He didn't have to do a lot. He came right in, fixed it quick and left. His quality of work was very good and he was very knowledgeable on what he was doing. He was on time and was very professional. I have another provider whom I use now so I wouldn't use him again.

I used to be happy with Geeks On Call. They no longer are reliable, however. They still do good work at repairs, but you never know when they will show up. I waited over two hours this time. Next time I need repairs I will call a more punctual service.
