I have been very reluctant to write this review, but I think the consumer should be aware. In the summer of 2021, I hired Florin’s Floors to refinish my existing engineered wood floors, to add some additional wood flooring in 2 of the bedrooms and, to repair a few areas where a wall had once been. I noticed after the sanding had been completed, but before any finish had been applied, one area had been over sanded thru the top layer of wood, exposing the inner plywood. I mentioned it to Florin, the owner, who told me it was due to the floor not being level. I said to him, that may be the case, I didn’t know, but this is a section of the floor that you replaced and repaired. He told me he could fix it in the refinishing process. I told him I thought the boards in question should be replaced, as it was a relatively large spot, approximately 13 inches by 2¾ inches in a high traffic area that would likely be noticeable regardless. He told me he could replace the section, but he would have to charge me for the additional work. Since he was insistent he could fix it, and he was the expert, I agreed to go with his advice rather than pay anything more for a mistake his team had made. Time goes on, the floors have finish applied, in general they look good “with” the exception of this one area. He does what he can to fix it, but the area ends up looking black and blue on what otherwise is a very light floor – totally unacceptable! When I complained, he tells me he has done what he could do, and I should have said something before the finishing was completed – which I had. He then says that the area in question wasn’t actually an area he had repaired and thus wasn’t his responsibility if it was uneven. I told him this wasn’t true, as I had taken pictures of the whole process, and the area in question was definitely part of the floor that he repaired/replaced. He later upon physical inspection admitted that to be the case. I again told him that such a large black and blue spot in the middle of an otherwise very light floor was unacceptable, and I wanted the boards in question changed out and refinished. He told me this couldn’t reasonably be done given there was so little veneer left. After much consternation, I then suggested (I believe very reasonably) he just reimburse me the cost of the repair work – about 15% of the cost of the entire job, and we would call it even. He responded by saying, “he could do that, but he’d have to remove all of the wood he put down,” and when I asked why, he said, “I’m not in the business of selling wood.” At this point, I realized there was no point in this discussion. Given our inability to resolve this issue, I didn’t see much point in bringing up some of the other more minor but still significant issues. I did find it interesting that in the areas that were refinished, no fill was used between boards where it normally is (he did fill most of the areas where new wood was installed) leaving gaps which over time gather significant amounts of dust and dirt. Also many of the pieces of wood used in the repair process looked to be of a lower grade than that found elsewhere ( This was also pointed out many time in the process. Last but not least, quite a bit of floor finish ended up on the kitchen cabinets and front door. In his defense, he did return and spend a couple of hours cleaning up some of this, while he let me know my cleaning lady could have handled it! I wouldn’t do business with this company again, and certainly wouldn’t recommend anyone complete paying for his work, until the work is completely finished to your satisfaction – I should know better and that was my error. Unfortunately I don't see how to add pictures to the review so you could see just how glaring this problem is

Florin did a fantastic job sanding and finishing the hardwood floors at our new house. He was very professional, charged a great rate, was prompt with communications, and finished right on schedule. I would recommend him for anyone looking to have work done on their floors. Great experience with a friendly and highly skilled contractor.

Florin came out quickly to give me an estimate, worked with my tight timeline, and did an excellent job on the floors. He refinished one bedroom and did a buff and coat on the rest of my rooms all for a very fair price. I thought certain parts of my floor were water damaged and would need to be replaced, but Florin saved me money by advising me it was merely surface damage that would be taken care of after the refinishing. I have been handing out Florin's number to everyone I know with hardwoods. Very happy with his work and his customer service.

Working with Florin was great! Not only did he do a great job at a fair price, but he was easily the most responsive and professional contractor I have worked with yet. It may seem like a small thing, but it is really nice to work with someone who is punctual, takes pride in their work, and does exactly what they say they will. I also appreciate the fact that he sent us update pictures throughout the process so we knew exactly what was going on.

We're pleased with the service and the result. Florin and his team were responsive, prompt and courteous. They were not the lowest bid, but Florin was quick to respond and to answer questions and he was accommodating to our need to split the job into upstairs then downstairs so we didn't have to abandon the house for a week with kids and pets. We would use again.

I cannot say enough good things about Florins Floors. Not only will we use them again, if needed, but we will be referring anyone in need of floor refinishing to this company, as well. This company is very professional, reliable and punctual. They checked in with us at the end of each part of the process to gauge our satisfaction. Florins Floors far surpassed our expectation of how the floors would turn out. Our home was built in the 1930's. There were some large water spots near the door entry, discolorations and a few areas that had darkened. After Florins Floors refinished our floors, they truly look brand new. . .It is unbelievable!!! We get so many comments on how beautiful our floors look. We would refer them to anyone in need of great floor refinishing!

"On November 2015 we were contacted for an wood flooring estimate to Member's home. After measuring and estimating the project cost a stain chart was offered for the color selection, after the color was chosen by the Dr. [Member Name Removed], his girlfriend and designer,the name of the color ( Jacobean) was entered into the contract and signed by both parties. After the color ( stain ) was applied , second day , prior to apply 1st coat of polyurethane the floor was inspected ( we know that because the house alarm was set when we arrived 2nd day in the morning) and we were given the go ahead. Before applying the 3rd and final coat Dr. [Member Name Removed] was called to inspect the flooring ( we have text messages as prove) at witch he declined to do so. When project was completed and we met at his home for final payment to be paid I encountered a very different stand from Dr. [Member Name Removed] ,his girlfriend and her mother at this time (no designer was present). I was very confused as why they did not wanted to pay the final invoice . Their argument was that a different color on the floors was applied then what they wanted even thou we had the color ( Jacobean) signed into the contract and pictures of us applying it to prove. They asked me why is the entire wood flooring not an even solid color.If any of these issues would have been mentioned to our company we would have gladly tried to change it after we stained the floors, not after the project was completed. Some expectations of matching a color and differences in grain are unrealistic, it is a natural fiber and will always have variation. I did my best to explain to them the wood grain and the meaning of oak hardwood floors. After refusing to pay the final invoice they wanted me to apply the angie's list coupon 11 times ( yes 11 times , I did not miss typed) more then the value advertised. Last I saw this member along with his girlfriend,after handing me a check , HE shook my hand and said " THANK YOU" I am Very confused and awed about this experience. Florins Floors has a long lasting reputation for providing excellent service and quality workmanship, as evidence by our other angie's list reviews and we hope you will not allow this negative review in whether to decide us to be your wood flooring contractor or not."

Florin's prices were very competitive and work quality was FIRST CLASS! He sent me texts with pictures as the work was in progress to keep me in the loop since I live out of state. He found matching oak planks and polyurethane finish. I wish this review let me share pictures. I can't thank him enough and his work helped me sell the house very quickly. He was very responsive and showed up on time each day completing the work very quickly with quality.

I can't say enough great things about Florin and the work he did on my hardwood floors. They did a fantastic job making my home look completely brand new. I had another company refinish the floors when I moved in 15 years ago and they didn't look half as nice.
Florin is probably the nicest guy in Jacksonville. He accommodated my schedule and was even able to complete the job a week earlier than promised. He is great with communication and let me know when and what he would be doing. He is very professional and knows how to make any floors look great no matter what the prior condition.
I will definitely be calling him in the future when my new house needs to be done.

Florin and his assistant did a great job refinishing the highly blemished kitchen hardwood floor area so it looks like new. The kitchen hardwood floor extended all the way to the family room on one side, and to the hallway on the other side, and so he had to make sure the color and finish of the sanded & refinished kitchen hardwood floor planks match the appearance of the adjacent hardwood floor planks (family room and hallway) which did not need refinishing. When all was done, the entire kitchen-family room-hallway hardwood floor looked beautiful and no one could tell that only the kitchen floor area was redone. Wonderful work.

Our go-to flooring contractor said that the floors in our new house were poorly installed and also in very bad shape with water damage, so they couldn't be refinished, just replaced. I had given up, and was resigned to replacing them in 10 years along with our kitchen.
Enter Florin. He is a true floor refinishing professional. He looked at our floors, and stated that they were fine to be sanded once more and refinished to look like new Furthermore, he did not think that any of the "damaged" boards would need to be replaced, just simply repaired.
We scheduled Florin for a few weeks out to work with our schedule. He provided the name of an excellent moving company to move our furniture. We stayed in regular contact up to the start date.
Florin and his team arrived as promised, and began their work. After four days, all of our floors looked both new and durable. I couldn't find one defect! We did insist on the more costly commercial grade products which have much less of an odor and prolong the life of the floors since we couldn't sand them again.
I highly recommend Florin and would certainly use him again for any floor related work.

The job went great! This is the second job that Florin has done for us!! He and Glenn do spectacular work!! They glued down the wood flooring, sanded and finshed the wood to match the existing hardwoods in the rest of the house. I'm so very blessed to have found Florin and Glenn. My wood floors make me smile everytime I look at them!! :o)

He arrived on the date and time we agreed on. He was good about explaining what he was going to do and about how long it would take. He spent a lot of time on the project the first two days. I can tell he's pretty busy (he does the work himself), so for example, when he's coming over just to do another layer of polyurethane, I think he needs a little flexibility sometimes. I didn't have a problem with that. I think one of the days he mentioned he would be late because of another project, but he kept me up to speed via text with where he was at. I think he did great work and would definitely recommend him. He takes time to talk to you and seems to really enjoy what he does. Also, on a side note, his equipment is top notch. It doesn't spray tons of dust everywhere. There was a little, which is to be expected, but I thought he did a great job keeping the overall project clean as well. Bottom line is my floors looked terrible after who knows what over the 70 years they've existed. They look great now.

- Terrible. He was very unreliable when it came to letting me know when he would show up. He strung me along for weeks telling me he would be there and then call and say he could not make it. Then one afternoon just shows up at my house with no warning . He is very unprofessional and hard to work with. His prices are extremely high. He also did a sloppy job and got wax all over my walls but he did cooperate when asked to remove it and did so,
- but still today there is a stain on my wall that is very visable. Would not recommend him.

"Miss (removed member name), First of all I would like to let you know that I am sorry that I was not being able to meet your demands regarding this project. I came by your house as you originally requested me for an estimate only to find out that your front gate was locked and that was no way for me to get in. You apologized to me for not being able to let me in so I can look at your project. On October 30th 2014 I received a picture text message from you stating that you need to replace 4 to 6 damaged boards, based on that information I quoted you $285.00 for the project. You mentioned to me that you would like it to be done by Friday November 7th and I said that I will do my best to accommodate you. You also mentioned that you would have some guests coming that weekend. I tried to be there on Friday but an emergency occurred at one of my other project that I was currently working on. I did apologies for the inconvenience and you accepted my apologies. You decided that you wanted to be done on Tuesday November 11th at witch I told you that we are very busy with the projects and I will be able to make it at your house in the afternoon only. After I drove from my other project ( Neptune Beach) to your home on Tuesday afternoon, I was at your home at 4:00 Pm, only to find out once again that your front gate was locked and you were not home again.I decided to wait for you along with my crew. Luckily your husband was home and did let us in on his way out of the house. When I walked in I noticed to my surprise that it was not 4 to 6 boards, as you previously mentioned to me, that needed to be replaced but there was like 24 boards that needed to be replaced at witch did not have enough wood with me to do the repairs. I did marked them with blue tape and I took a picture and I text it to you asking you to call me when you get home so I can explain to you what it need to be done and also to schedule a day for the project to be completed. That was no 2 hours project as you mentioned to me and its required a day for the repairs and a follow up to apply the polyurethane. It's a process that we need to follow. You refused to call me and text-ed me that you are gonna use somebody else. Its to bad that Angie's List won't let me post any pictures to show you the text messages and the pictures exchanged between us. Once again I apologies for inconveniencing you but I felt that I was miss led with wrong information about your project. If there is anything else we can assist you further with please let us know and will do our best to accommodate you. P.S. Don't forget that the first project that we did for you you did review it on Angie's List and graded us with an A + and you also recommended us to another customer.
