Family business Thom Arrived on time for initial appointment. Measured and promised quote in two days. Have now waited three weeks. No quote. Have called his cell phone twice. No reply. Have called the office twice. Woman said she would pass the request for status to Thom. No call back. Called noon the next day and she confirmed he has the message but just left the office. It's been 6 days. No return call. Confidence in using this vendor is very low. Most likely this won't be a vendor who will do what they say, because they don't even return a phone call. Stay away.

The doors are beautiful. No problem with the doors themselves. The installers did not show up as promised. They had to be recalled 2 times to complete the work. Two tiles were broken at one door. A deadbolt was not instslled on door. The stucco at the bottom of 2  doors has not been repaited. The provider has not gotten back to me about these issues since informing him 2 weeks ago. onr door

I reached out to the company to come and take care of this and honor the warranty in the entire month of May 2013. When we spoke to Ken with the company, they have been nothing but difficult to work with. They tried to alter the original contract we signed with them, to say that they were not going to be out and that we still owed them $1,135. I have receipts for cashier's checks that show that I paid him in full for the project. It even says on the original contract that it has been paid in full.

They were very polite and answered all our questions about what they were doing step by step.  I liked that.  When we made our appointment, the rep came on time.  He brought sample of three different hurricane windows and showed us how they worked.  also had a color selection to make so it would match our house. The scheduled installation happened exactly when we planned for it and couldn't believe they were able to install so many so quickly.  We love them.

Installing went fine,but about a year after installation, one of seals in one of the windows went bad and it became foggy. Called the company and explained the problem as the windows have a lifetime guarantee. Nothing happened I have called them on numerous occasions but to no avail. I quit calling about a year ago. I would not advise any of my friends to use these people.

Ordering Windows - I wanted to comment on my recent experience dealing with Florida Georgia Contractors.  I initially interviewed three companies (Pella, FGC, and one other that does not come to mind) with regard to Hurricane Windows and ultimately settled on Florida Georgia Contractors. The salesman (Tom) was very knowledgeable and helped me select the right product for my house that corresponded with the design.  Based on Tom’s recommendation, I went with PGT Winguard windows which matched the existing windows in my house. About 5 weeks later, the windows were delivered however noticed that the grid design was off considerably. One of the windows actually had the grid inside of the dual pain window while others were crooked and resided on the outside.   Tom assured me this would be resolved and made calls to PGT to fix the issue which was great…. Again at this point I did not have anything negative to say about FGC and was satisfied with their service.

Installation *I am currently acting as a “home contractor” and subbing out various aspects of my remodel. I experienced some challenges with the installation. FGC and my framer had a discussion about the installation of the windows which I was not a part of. This miscommunication resulted in FGC making 2 trips out to my house and the openings were not ready.  I spoke with the Framer who indicated FGC “Did does not listen very well” however when I spoke with FGC I received similar comments….. At this point I am not sure what transpired however ended up coordinating a date for the following Saturday. Unfortunately the FGC installer did not show up on the date we settled on nor did I receive a phone call indicating they would not make it. I contact the office the following Monday and it turns out there was some type of emergency and had to reschedule for Tuesday (again it would have been nice to have a phone call however I understand things come up). I came home from work around 5:30pm and found the windows were installed however noticed my hose was running on the side of the house and had had flooded my side yard. I contacted Tom just to give them a heads up about the situation and he indicated “Ed” the installer did not leave my hose on…..  I guess someone walked into my fenced in back yard and just turned it on ….. Again it was not a big thing however these little things kept adding up and I think it is important to let people know about my experience.  After inspecting the windows I found that many of the finish pieces were not complete…. Example the downstairs window were missing a piece of trim and caps were not placed on the screw hole covers.  In addition the calking around the windows left little to be desired. I ended up re-calking some of the windows myself however before doing the upstairs window wanted Tom to see the gap that did not have any calking in it. It should be noted that Tom did end up fixing these issues but it is one of those things that I had to bring to his attention.    One other note worth mentioning - I had the window replaced above my kitchen sink. Initially I noticed the disposal making some unusual noises and did not put two and two together until it locked up.  I ended up fishing two screws out of my disposal… Again it was not a big deal however if you select FGC I would make sure you cover up your disposal……  

PGT  Windows
As I mentioned earlier, I had an external grid applied to my windows which did not arrive as designed (Crooked etc).  I called FGC a couple of times to get a status on when this would be resolved and was told this is being handled by PGT warranty department and would be fixed be fixed in a week or so….  Approximately 4 weeks later I was told that a new window would be made next week (5weeks) . For me this was not acceptable and could not help but wonder what had been going on for the past four weeks. After expressing my discontent with PGT to Tom, I received a call from Ken who is the FGC president …. Instead of listening to my issues and offering to offering to escalate, Ken basically talked over me and was very rude.  Typically when you are paying a large sum of money for a product you listen to the customer’s issues. I was very disappointed in the call with Ken and his lack of customer service skills.   With that being said, about an hour after the call with Ken I finally received a call from the tech at PGT (5 weeks later I might add) who indicated he would be out to fix the issues with the misaligned grid pattern in a couple of days.  It should be noted this was the first call that I had received from anyone at PGT.  

Unfortunately I wish I could recommend FGC and PGT however based on all of the issue would not do business with them again.

They put in very large windows for me. They gave me good price and the quality was good. They do what they say they would do. They were straightforward. They do respond to problems. I would use them in the future.

We wanted to go with a low to no maintenance material. This was definitely the right choice. Their company helped us in answering questions to ease the burden of the decision. Even though it was a fairly easy process I was quite pleased. I am happy with the final product too.

Florida Georgia Contractors gave an estimate and the estimate was exactly what it ended up costing. Overall, I was very happy with the work they did. I found them to be professional and got the job done on time. I would recommend this company.

Florida-Georgia Contractors is a wonderful company. I would hire them again in a heart beat. It is difficult to find responsible companies, and this company meets my expectations in that way. I think they are very competitive in their prices, too.
