I paid a significant amount for several projects upfront, and he started the build on the outside entry and deck in January, 2015 without getting the permit. I signed the permit paperwork but he did nothing with it. I thought it had been permitted. He walked off the job not long after. Five months later, after a city inspector saw it and issued a stop work order, he tried to get the permit and it was denied. The work he had done was not to code or my specifications, and is unsafe.
I had to get a variance by myself to allow for the job to be proceed. He did a drawing but he was not cooperative with any of my requests. He abandoned the job again, and I am out over $10K on this job. I am taking him to court and made complaint to the state. He had plenty of time to make it right.
He also arranged a flooring guy to do a repair for me. The guy was HORRIBLE and could not have cared less that the materials were a complete mismatch. I did not have a contract so I had to let that one go.
