Chimney Champions

This company misrepresents itself as being equipped to repair chimneys. I made an appointment advising them that my chimney was leaking and needed to be fixed. They should have let me know at the time of the call that they charge $250 for an inspection just to give an estimate. They also should have advised that they cannot repair the flashing. After the inspection, they emailed a report trying to sell chimney parts that would not fix the issue and advised that we would need to contact a roofer to make the repair to the flashing that was causing the leak. So I am out $250 for absolutely nothing.

Hired Chimney Champions to do chimney inspection. They offered special deal of $299 reduced to $249. Competitor offers same service at $199. They sent me contract in advance which required signature and full payment in advance. The contract had multiple provisions unacceptable to me so I declined to sign. Two provisions in the contract included limiting damage they cause to the value of the contract $249. Common damage they might cause like stepping through ceiling by accident or damaging adjacent screening would be more than $249 and they wanted to limit their responsibility. . Second clause I found repugnant was requirement that I had to have a judgement against them in court before I could post an unfavorable review. No wonder you won't find any unfavorable reviews, you have to take them to court and win before you can post anything they consider unfavorable. Unless of course you never signed the contract... And there were other clauses in contract that I did not like. Then they offered me no contract service which I accepted. Technician came out and inspected chimney and gave verbal report that cap and arrestor needed replacement but chimney was in good condition. Technician was nice and it seemed like good service. Waited till end of week for written report and finally had to contact Chimney Champions to find out where report was. They told me I had to pay before I could get report and then sent me web link which required I sign the contract I had already turned down before I could get report. I declined again and called office who tried to get me to sign contract and I refused. We finally reached agreement that they would bring report to me in person and I would pay upon receipt which happened uneventfully. Report was adequate and said the cap and arrestor needed to be replaced. I had requested but never received a quote from Chimney Champions for the new work. Evidently I had to go through their contract to get to the quote but it didn't matter because I had contracted with different company for work. Hired second company (ChimneyPros) to replace cap. They came out and measured chimney cap and in process came to conclusion that cap was in good shape and only arrestor needed replacement. Wow, instead of a $1400 cap and arrestor replacement based on Chimney Champions report, I now have only a $350 arrestor replacement. Big difference! If you choose to business with Chimney Champions recommend you read the contract carefully and if they recommend service recommend you get a second opinion.

The technician was friendly and very thorough in the inspection of our chimney and fireplace. He was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot.. I felt the price for this was very comparable. I would hire them again

The price seems a bit high for the ~60 minutes he was here. Not many companies provide this service, so they have the market. But the service was good.

Once again a fantastic company!

This was not an install but rather a chimney sweep. Buyer beware. Once the cleaning was complete, and I turned my gas fireplace on soot. It was distributed throughout the house as a result of the cleaning sweep. During a second inspection, the inspector indicated the vermiculite fireplace installation was disturbed, and the logs to the gas fireplace were not properly replaced, once the gas was turned on soot that had settled in the installation was distributed throughout the house. Chimney champions say I am at fault and have to take responsibility for the cleanup.

Tech was very friendly and knowledgeable. Was on time and considerate of mine. Very thorough and I felt I got a great job. Even checked my fire extinguishers for recalls. Will definitely use again.

They did a great job and a complete inspection and I will use this Co. in the future.
