We had been customers of Bowman since purchasing our home in May 2000. They had been out a few times for routine maintenance and small repairs.
When our A/C completly went out, we called for service. A technician came out, identified the problem, and gave us an estimate for replacement. When we approved the transaction, our unit was ordered and a couple of days later, it was installed.
The installer came out with a helper. The two of them worked wonderfully well as a team and within hours, the new unit was put into place. The only hiccup occurred when a city inspector came out and determined the slab that the unit was on was too close to the house. They had used the existing slab and, apparently the codes had changed a little since the old unit was installed. Once Bowman was alerted to the problem, they immediately called to set up an appointment to have someone come correct the concern.
In the years that I have been doing business with Bowman, I have been very happy with their service. Brian is usually the tech that services my home. His punctuality, professionalism, and cleanliness both in appearance and the way he leaves my home when the job is finished has been outstanding.
Bowman's secretary, Jules, is an excellant liaison when scheduling service. I appreciate her maintenance and appointment reminders and the way she calls the day of the appointment, 30 minutes prior to the tech arriving.
It has been about 6-7 months and I have had multiple problems since then. First problem (within a couple of weeks) was a leak in a part that they told me the didn't replace. So they charged me hundreds of dollars more and I paid for that repair and didn't argue or get upset. At least 2 other times I had them come out for problems. Once, they didn't charge me.
As soon as I turned on the heat--another problem--no heat! Just cold airing blowing out. Once again, they have described it as "something they didn't replace." So they will fix-- but, of course, charge me. In their defense, they came out right away to fix my heat. They got it to work temporarily, but I still have a repair that I will need to fix. I was very angry that they were going to charge me for this repair as the problem only occurred with me turning on the heat for the first time. I feel that it is statistically impossible for the problem to occur THE VERY FIRST TIME I TURN ON THE HEAT if they had wired it up properly. They claim to have tested the heat but never with me around and only (in the past tense) now that there is a problem.
Also, after the job was complete, when I thought the tech had left, he was all of the sudden in my kitchen. Turns out he was in the truck (on the phone?) for about 20 min then walked through my door and back into my house without knocking - to get a check. I think he should have knocked, but maybe that is just me.
I asked for the owner to call me and was told, "If you had a problem with your car, do you think Mike Shad would call you?" (I may be a little off on the quote, but the sentiment was the same.
I only used this company as they came recommended by someone that someone went to church with. I should have done more research. Also, the sales person, (probably in every company) isn't who you end up with. I wish I had thought to meet the technicians and not just the sales people--but that is a rule for all these types of things that I often forget.
