"Member's laminated cabinets were bubbling from a water leak before Armorshine ever arrived. She did not ask to have the employee removed, but did ask to have him checked out. Our employee did not look fresh because he had been up the night before with a sick child. The owner of Armorshine was on the job to check him out within an hour, and checked the job personally every day. (Armorshine performs random drug testing on employees and we would have removed the employee if we had determined that there was an issue.) We did give her a discount, but only because she claimed that despite the draping film we hung, that dust had migrated to the back of her house, and that it would cost her $150.00 to have it professionally cleaned. Our contract with her specifically stated that baseboards and trim will need touch up painting. She was not pleased with our worker from the moment he appeared on the job, an employee who has been with us since 2003, has advanced training from the NWFA and has rarely received a complaint. In this economy, we were not going to send him home without work and without pay, unless there was some cause other than the homeowner's prejudice."

"FIRST, SOME BACK GROUND. ARMORSHINE FLOORS IS A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL WOOD FLOORING ASSOCIATION, AND WE ABIDE BY THEIR QUALITY STANDARDS. THE NWFA STATES THAT FLOOR FINISH SHOULD BE JUDGED FROM A STANDING POSITION IN NATURAL LIGHT. ANYONE CAN FIND A FLAW WHEN JUDGING A FLOOR ON THEIR HANDS AND KNEES. ALSO, THE MACHINERY WE USE TO SAND AND FINISH A FLOOR WILL SCUFF THE SHOEMOLD. SOME HOMEOWNERS PREFER TO SAVE A LITTLE MONEY BY TOUCH UP PAINTING IT THEMSELVES, AND WE RECOMMEND THIS. HOWEVER, IF THE SHOEMOLD IS REMOVED, THE RESULTING GAP, IN PARTICULAR IN OLDER HOMES, CAN LEAD TO CONSTRUCTION DUST AND DEBRIS BEING BLOWN INTO THE FINISH BY DRAFTS, OR EVEN BY A CLOSING DOOR. OUR ORIGINAL BID WITH THIS HOMEOWNER INCLUDED REPLACING HER SHOEMOLD, HOWEVER, SHE OPTED TO DO IT HERSELF, ON HER OWN SCHEDULE WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN IN TIME FOR THE FINISHING. FINALLY, WE DID BUSINESS WITH THE MEMBER IN JULY OF 2003 AND SHE POSTED HER REVIEW OF US THREE YEARS LATER UNDER DIFFERENT INITIALS THAN THE WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED, AND WE THANK ANGIE'S LIST FOR NOT ALLOWING ANONYMOUS POSTING. OUR RECORDS SHOW THAT WE BEGAN WORK AT THE END OF MAY, ACCOMMODATED TWO CHANGE ORDERS (INCLUDING INSTALLING A KITCHEN AND STAIN) AND COMPLETED WORK IN MID JULY, LETTING OURSELVES IN AND OUT OF THE HOUSE WITH A KEY SHE PROVIDED FOR US. ADDITIONALLY, ARMORSHINE RETURNED THREE TIMES TO TRY TO MEET HER EXPECTATIONS (WITHOUT THE SHOEMOLD INSTALLATION) AND REMAINED POLITE THROUGHOUT. ARMORSHINE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1982. WE ARE A SMALL FAMILY RUN COMPANY THAT ADVERTISES ONLY IN THE PHONE BOOK AND CHURCH BULLETIN. WE HAVE STAYED IN BUSINESS THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH RECOMMENDATIONS."
