"There is some confusion. This is not a customer of ours. We have never been to their residence."
Mike came out and gave the estimate, picked the color and scheduled the installation. A week later we decided that we wanted the color changed from the house color to the trim color. I called and Brian, the production manager, said no problem. When the guys came to install the gutters he said immediately, "I knew this was a mistake before I even got here. No one uses this color on a whole house. It's used for things like bright white sunrooms." He told me that Brian should have questioned the color choice when I called and that Mike should have come back out to get the correct color. I had used the color samples they left...but they were WAY off. So...for $3426, I think that's pretty lousy way to do business. Thank goodness for the install guys who were willing to help me get the right color put on!

"We find it fascinating how certain people think it’s within a home improvement company’s’ ability or obligation to drive by a home without its owners present and intuitively assume all the variables that homeowner will require and provide a price over the phone or email based on absolutely no knowledge of what they need. That is as much a discredit to us as it is our customers. The truth is, with seamless gutters, there are three main installation techniques; spike and feral, hidden hangers, and pop-rivet, as well as downspout locations, etc., all with their own price distinctions. Anyone one of these three processes can be chosen. Therefore, for us to ‘drive by’ a house assuming we know where a customer’s priorities are is at best naïve and at worst foolish. Nevertheless, to accommodate customer’s scheduling challenges, we provide such a service, though typically we never hear from those customers again, and the effort was at a waste of time and money. You can’t sell anything without establishing value. Finally, we have no record of this individual ever contacting us. But should he in the future, we hope he finds another company worthy of his approach."

Two different contractors came out to my house to give me an opinion on the same issue. Both of these contractors, who are independent of one another, gave me the same opinion. They both opined that I do not need gutters on the sides or front of the house; that I should remove the damaged portion of the gutter along the rear, as it was never properly installed; that I can repair some minor leaks myself along the good portion of existing gutter; and that I do not need to replace the damaged gutter, but instead just repair the damaged fascia and leave that portion without a gutter. As they explained, my house was built in 1939, and there is no real erosion risk. They each gave me an estimate to simply remove the damaged gutter and repair the damaged fascia. One estimate was for $750 and the other estimate was for $850. They told me that whoever recommended new gutters along the entire exterior of the house, at a cost of $8,000, was taking me for a ride. They could not believe that someone gave me that opinion at that cost. Needless to say, I have chosen to go with one of the other contractors to do the work, saving me over $7,000.
I am convinced that the rep sent to my house was only interested in selling me the Gutter Helmet, whether I need it or not. As a layperson, I was seeking a professional opinion as to what my new home (new to me) needs in terms of gutters. I was sorely disappointed to learn that I was misled by Gutter Helmet of North Florida in that regard.

I found in closer observation, the accuser is neither a customer of ours, nor have we ever been to her residence prior to investigating this issue. We are currently awaiting the Angie’s list review board to help resolve this matter and expunge this fraudulent allegation."
