PLUMLEE REALTY

Plumlee was representing a long term rental home in Madera Beach which we rented last December for one year. The one area where they showed proficiency was in the collection of first, last, security and pet deposit. Things went downhill from there. The house had many issues with water intrusion both in the leaking roof as well as water pouring through the garages when it rained. A lot of our personal property was damaged or destroyed as a result of this water. Plumlee's long term rental department manager, Mike Petrucelli and his assistant Linda were notified numerous times of these issues we were having, and we requested both by phone and in writing for repairs to be made, particularly after we started getting a large amount of black mold in the master bedroom closet. They put us off, ignored us, and even tried to start a legal action against us when I withheld a small sum from the rent to pay for mold remediation on our clothes in the closet. We had electrical issues where you would be shocked upon turning on a light or plugging something in. They refused to address that. All they wanted to do was collect rent checks and no concern was given to the safety or habitability of the home. We finally asked to be released from our lease early so that we could move to a better place and Plumlee said okay. We did have to forfeit all damages to our property resulting from the water and mold but at this point we just wanted to be done with Plumlee. When time came to move out, we had the home professionally cleaned and carpet professionally cleaned, pulled all the nails and filled the holes and left the house in much better shape than we got it upon moving in. Of course, Plumlee saw one last opportunity to put the screws to us and is withholding our security deposit for damages to the home that were there when we moved in. They know most people won't go to the trouble of suing for a $1000 security deposit and they count on that when sending out their nasty and erroneous legal notices. We tried calling a few times to rectify our dispute over the withholding of our security deposit, but they steadfastly refuse to return calls. We find their lack of professionalism and courtesy abhorrent, and wanted to warn others to avoid Plumlee like the plague because they prey on their own customers.
