A handyman I hired bought a sprinkler system index valve from these guys and he lost the coupler o-ring and would not come back to repair it. First of all, I came to find out they charged twice as what Home Depot's price is for the index value, So, first of all, they are not only not price competitive, they are price gougers. Then when I, the homeowner, went to the store to obtain a new coupler o-ring, the "mother" was minding the store. I didn't mention the price gouging as I just wanted the correct o-ring. She was (1) clueless, (2) condescending, and (3) insulting. She didn't realize that o-rings are a common part for which replacement is not uncommon. She called her son in the field, and asked me to wait outside because I reacted to her poor knowledge and miserable attitude. The son arrived and provided me a coupler assembly that had an o-ring that turned out to be damaged. My recommendation is to stay away from this place !

Although the work that was performed was adequate, there was no written agreement authorizing all of the work to he performed. What was an initial $150 agreed upon repair (and, a check was given to him- $65 for the service call, plus $65 for an extra hour of work, and the remainder to be a tip.As I had left to get back to work, I told him to call me if there are any problems. I received a call approximately 5 hours later stating that he was just leaving my house- and, was still not finished- needing to return the following day to complete the project. When I said that I should have been called prior to any undertaking that required additional time/labor/parts, I was informed that "I do not do anything half-assed". This he acquiesced and stated "yeah, you're right, I should have called." I was aghast when the final bill he left at my house (of which I paid) totaled $759.00. I called the guy when i saw the bill expressing shock and concern- and stating that I was taken advantage of and this will be followed up with the following day. When I called the office and talked with the owner the following day expressing my dismay at the situation of not receiving any notification authorizing any additional work over and above the already paid $150, she stated that they do not give estimates for work to be done. She even asked "do you work for free, well we don't." She, interestingly also said that if she was to reduce the bill, then she would have the guy come back to the house to undo work he already performed. As much as I support local businesses, I will never use this company again.

Richard called before he came. Arrived on time and worked even through a rainshower. Completed the work as scheduled and cleaned up afterwards.

On 6/24/2013 C&W Pump, Pool, and Motors was called to repair or replace a pool motor or pump that was making a loud noise during operation. Their technician removed an AO Smith 3/4 HP electric motor (labeled by C&W as new on 4/14/2011). The technician took the motor to diagnose the problem on their "bench". The technician returned with the motor and was paid for replacing the bearings, shaft seal, and gasket on invoice #90423.
The next day (6/25/13) the motor shut itself down and was very hot. The issue was discussed with the owners who said "they could not determine the problem without looking at the motor" again. The technician returned to retrieve the motor.
The next day (6/26/13) "Richard" called to offer a new replacement motor and would "not charge for the service call or shaft seals", a value equivalent to what would have been incurred had the original diagnosis been to replace the motor instead of trying to repair it. I agreed over the phone that that was fair. After the first replacement motor would not start later that morning, the technician returned with a second replacement motor which at the present moment is operating. However, when presented with the second invoice #90446 for the additional new motor charge, the technician did not include credits of the original service call or shaft seals. Instead, they claimed that the waived charges discussed were for a second service call to replace the motor, leaving intact the original charges for work that would not have been necessary had the original bench diagnosis been accurate.
When this was brought to the attention of "Debbie", the owner, she threatened to place a Mechanics Lien on the property or remove the motor if the invoice was not immediately paid.
Either their "bench" has insufficient diagnostic skills or capability or their practices are deceptive. Either way, I would not do business with them again.
Invoice details:
First invoice #90423 6/24/13 service call $75, two replacement bearings $75, one replacement shaft seal $25, one pump body gasket $12, tax $11.22, total $198.22.
Second invoice #90446 6/26/2013 one 3/4 HSQ095 $208, tax $12.48, total $220.48.

C&W was able to rebuild my pool pump in less than a day for much less than anyone else in the area, all of whom could not promise completion for several days.  I dropped the pump off to them at 9:00 am and they called to say they had finished it at 11:30 am the same day!  This is the third time I have had them rebuild a pool pump and their repairs are always quick, affordable and reliable.  C&W will get all my business from now on.

In the process of disassembling the pump, the technician broke all 4 motor bolts.  Although not uncommon, it is unusual to break all 4 bolts.  The tech called and told me what he had done and said: "I have replacement bolts--but not for this size motor".  My pump/motor is a standard Hayward 2 hp unit, used all over the area.  He immediately began pushing a new $300 motor, rather than just ordering the replacement bolts.  In fact, he flat refused to order new bolts.  Then he upped the ante by suggesting a $1200 alternative variable speed pump.  I told him I wasn't sure what I was going to do and he said that it would cost $30 for the work he had in it.  He called twice more, still pushing the expensive options.  The next day I went to see the damage to the old motor to help me assess what to do next.  They refused to let me see my own pump until I paid $40.  I objected, and reminded them that I was told it was only $30.  Immediately the lady behind the counter said: "Then I'll call the cops" and she reached for the phone to begin dialing!  I kept my temper, paid the extra $10 and took my pump elsewhere.
Response from C&W Pump Pool & Motors
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, all four motor bolts are not an uncommon occurrence. We live in a very corrosive environment (Brevard County is the most corrosive county in FL) and this is the leading contributor to the condition of this customers motor. Motor bolts are very hard to come by. Usually you have to scavenge them from other motors. Unfortunately we did not have the through bolts that this motor needed. We even went so far as to check with another company that works on motors to see if they had any. The customer got his motor back and seal plate, and thru bolts back by paying our shop charge (to cover our labor time)and ten dollars for two new bearings (this is cost for them). We are always happy to go the extra mile so-to-speak with our customers but as is always the case, you cannot please all the people all the time and for some reason some people think you should not charge for your labor time."

I had a problem with my pool pump sparking so I called the local company C&W. They came out to remove the pump motor and immediately told me I needed a new one without first researching if the problem with my pump could be fixed. I relented and they installed a new pump motor that got very hot to the point it would stop working because it overheated. I had the owner come out this time and he said that was normal. I asked him to return the pump and I would find another installer who knew more about what they were doing and he refused. Instead after much arguing he replaced the pump with the same exact kind and the overheating problem was still there. Once again I asked that they take the pump as its not supposed to get that hot to the point it was melting the plastic cover that is made for pool pumps. The owner refused to take the pump and refund my money and then stormed off telling me that "its customers like me that give residents in the area a bad name" and he also said a few expletives and threw the melted plastic cover at me while he stormed away.
I went with another local pool pump installer who agreed that the pump was running too hot and the original installer had installed an irrigation pump motor and not a pool pump motor. This irrigation motor was not strong enough and didn't match the specs of what was required for the pool. Not only did the new installer put a proper pump on that was even a higher grade he charged almost $100 less. Buyer beware of C&W Pump & Irrigation!
......
When the pump motor was replaced by another company I returned the pump to C&W at their store (which was a mess I migth add and not professional looking at all) and they refused to give me a receipt and still charged my credit card for the purchase. I went back and complained and they threatened to have me arrested if I ever set foot in the shop again. I will have to go through my credit card company to dispute the charges. What a hassle!
Response from C&W Pump Pool & Motors
"We replaced his motor and would have replaced it again under the manufactures warranty with no additional charges, but he became angry because of the motor becoming hot. At that point he threw the pump cover at me so we refunded the cost of the motor parts and tax. We did not refund the service call because we want out all three times he called."

I guess C&W Pump on South Patrick Dr. was recently taken over by a group of smug people from up north. I took my pool pump in 2 days ago and told the lady at the counter that I just bought the pump from them 6 months ago and it was screaming. She asked if I lived beachside. I told her I did and she said "well there you go...". I started thinking about it and that didn't even make sense. 6 months is ridiculous. Every product has a warranty. So she says it will be $75 to work on the bearings. I asked her if they would mind explaining what went into that to me when I picked it up so maybe I could do it next time and she said "it's on the internet". I never get a call to tell me exactly what needed to be done and get my approval. I just get a call stating that the work was done and it was going to be almost double what I had been quoted to pick it up. It cost me $125 to get this done and I only paid $230 for the pump. I go in to pick it up and asked about a warranty. A guy, who wasn't there when I dropped it off, said the motors were warrantied for a year. I asked the lady and she said I never mentioned buying it there 6 months ago. I went back over our conversation and she got frustrated. She looked through their records briefly and said they had no record of my purchase. I went home and printed my bank statement, that clearly showed I bought my pump from them in January of 2010. When I showed it to her, she said they only warranty work they install. She also said "since you are handy enough to be ready to change the bearings, surely you can install one properly". These people are condescending and don't stand behind their work. I'm not going to them for crap in the future.
Response from C&W Pump Pool & Motors
"This customer was so arrogant I was blown away. He wanted to know how to replace bearings since he did not want to pay for the service of bearing replacement in the future. Could he watch it being done? Could I least tell him how it is done? After I picked my jaw up off the floor I asked him why he did not look it up on the net some where and do it himself. Simple story on this one."
