I gave Jason a cabinet door with the stain (dark java) I wanted a few weeks in advance, so that he could provide us a sample. I cleared out all of my kitchen cabinets in anticipation for the job. A few days before he was set to begin, Jason left my cabinet door at my front door painted in an awful carmel color (no where near the color I had chosen in stain). I immediately called him and informed him that I never committed to painting the cabinets, that our contract (written by him) specifically spelled out the job would include complete sanding and refinishing at a cost of $1,400. He said that he had his guy try to refinish the door and it was too much work and he could not do it. Since I had already given him a deposit, he refused to refund my money, but offered to put it towards the granite tops. I had no intention of getting granite tops on my cabinets without having them refinished, so this was no help to me. After allot very nasty emails going back and forth on the project, he kept insisting we were bound to the granite contract. Finally, my husband and I decided to buy new cabinets and used another contractor. We still allowed Jason to have his contractor install the granite. The company he hired put the seam at the sink, which Jason told me they would not do. Within weeks, the granite started pulling up and cracking at the seam because it was not level. I tried contacting the granite company, however, their phone had been disconnected. So I was stuck with Jason again, and he insisted that it was obviously from my abuse to the granite. He offered me $50 to fix it. Again, we went back and forth with many, many emails, in which he was very rude and completely unprofessional. We finally decided to cut our losses and paid another company $850 to completely remove and reinstall the granite. We never received any compensation in return from Jason and he still insists that I broke the contract with him when I did not use him to complete the cabinets.
Description of Work: Jason provided an estimate to refinish our kitchen cabinets, including all sanding and staining inside and out. We also received a quote for granite counter tops.
