Auto Glass, Auto Service
I got the contact information for this individual from his car ad. He gave me an estimate over the phone which seemed in line with expectations, so I scheduled an appointment to meet me at my residence the following day. The time for the appointment came and went and after an hour of waiting I attempted to call, only to reach voice mail. An additional hour later, he returned the call and told me that we had agreed that I was mistaken about the appointment, and that I was just to call him to set something up. It didn't make much sense or sound like something I would agree to, but I'm perfectly capable of making a mistake, so I let it go, and arranged to meet him an hour later. Having given up more than half my day waiting for him, I gave him the keys to my car and let him get started. When I came out to check about 15 minutes later, I was horrified to see that he had cut a hole in the internal steel panel of my door. When I asked him why he didn't just remove it, he told me that it would have taken hours and cost me an extra $400.00. I found this difficult to believe, and certainly would have preferred that he ask me first. Of course it was too late by then. When he was finished, the window seemed to be working well, but less than a day later, it failed again. I called and we agreed to meet the following morning at his place (funny, mobile service was not available!). Again, the time of the appointment passed by over an hour before he returned my second phone call and agreed to have me come over. During the second repair, I learned that he had put in a rebuilt window motor. I checked later, and the price he charged me was about the same as a new part. At any rate, we got the window working again, only to break the following day.
I called my regular mechanic to find out to my surprise and chagrin that they do that kind of work. He looked at the repair, and without any prompting from me said, "whoever did this should be ashamed of himself." The motor was held in by a single rivet (should have been three), and whether it had ever been rebuilt was hard to tell. Worst of all, he told me that it was completely unnecessary to cut the hole in my internal door panel.
After the fact and too late I find that many auto repair shops and auto window glass companies can do this kind of repair. I let the convenience of the mobile service keep me from checking around as I usually do.
Do NOT hire this person!
