I admit it was my fault for not paying the rental on the tank but I had been in a fight with them the previous year for periodically coming out and topping off the propane tank THAT HAD NOT BEEN USED. I asked if the propane was evaporating. No, they said. Is it leaking? No, they said. Well, ***? If that doesn't sound like a scam, I don't know what does. When they came out to unlock the tank, the guy said it was 60 percent full (AGAIN, without usage because IT WAS TURNED OFF). Then, I get a bill. $152.95 for 26.6 gallons. $5.75 a gallon! Holy ****. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the national average price for consumers for the week ending Jan, 23, 2017 was $2.317. When questioned about the price, Sunrise told me, "the more you use, the cheaper it is." Now, I just have to figure out how to get their tank out of the ground and find a reputable, honest business to deal with.
Description of Work: I needed the tank turned back on because they turned it off because I didn't pay the ($62 a year) tank rental.

My main complaint with these people was that I felt we were regularly overcharged. The last bill was 5/27/14, total was $267.14 for 54.1 gallons propane delivered. This comes out to about $4.51/#, but it was as high as $5.65/# at some point. The only way I know of to deal with the propane racket is to own your own tank. We recently bought our own tank and switched companies to one we hope will be more fair in what they charge. At least the initial fill-up was way cheaper. And if you own your own tank, you can leave the old company if they start gouging you and sign up with someone new without being financially penalized. In switching companies, we had about 28# of gas left in the old tank, and Sunrise did not reimburse us one penny for it. The reason I gave this company some good marks is because their driver Tim was always friendly and courteous, and their employee Kevin, who came out to fix problems with the water heater and stove, was also courteous and competent. I did not like the woman who answered the phone at Sunrise whenever I had a problem. She was very short/indifferent in her responses and did not treat me like a valued customer. We always paid our bills on time, so I felt we were indeed good customers, and I expected to be treated courteously.
Description of Work: We were with Sunrise Propane from sometime in 2007 to September of 2014. They provided propane.

Just bought a house with a tank in the ground and Sunrise as the supplier. When I called to switch the service to my name they mailed me an agreement to sign. Luckily I noticed they had included an $118 balance due from the prior home owners. When I called them and told them they would have to collect the debt from the former home owners they decided they didn't want to do business with me. Also, the former home owners only ordered propane 20 gallons at a time, which is the most expensive price point per gallon, when I asked for a different price point since I would be ordering it 120 gallons at a time they said they would review the price level after 1 full year of usage. Since I didn't allow them to pull a fast one on me they decided they didn't want to do business with me. That's fine with me.

After 9+ years of buying propane and timely payment of services I decided to switch to natural gas when it became available in the neighborhood. When notifying Sunrise of my wishes they did everything they could to make my conversion difficult to impossible. When we built the home Sunrise installed a propane tank in the ground near a magnolia tree. 9+ years later the little tree is a big tree with a propane tank 1 foot away. Sunrise was rigid on removing the tank. I offered to buy the tank and was told I could for $1200 which I would have paid, but they would not drain the tank after I purchased it. They were OK to take my money and leave a bomb in my front yard. They told me originally that after the service was disconnected (connected to natural gas) that they would come and pull the tank within a few days. So I hired an arborist to come by do extensive root pruning and expose the tank so it could be safely pulled without damaging the tree and my home. With that done Sunrise then changed their story to they had 30 working days to pull the tank, so we sat, and sat with a large hole in the front yard. My wife called and finally got a date set for them to remove the tank. The gentlemen from Sunrise arrived and were careful to pull the tank without damaging the tree or home. The final insult was that my wife had to beg them to help her cover the hole. Remember to check your contract and Angies list before selecting a vendor that you will have a long term relationship with. Do not just use who the contractor is using at that time.
Description of Work: Provide propane gas delivery for 9+ years. I switched to natural gas when it became available. Notified Sunrise of the change and ending of services. Sunrise needed to remove the buried tank from the front yard.
